No.13 Nouvelle Vague

This is the perfume oil, which I think is a great value as even the mini rollerball ($17 USD) lasts for a long time. This Fragrantica listing is missing some notes. Here they are from the MLM website: Top Notes: Muguet (Lily of the Valley), Coconut Waters, Lemon Middle Notes: Tuscan Fig, Tonka, Agave Base Notes: Vetiver, Amber, Santal Must have warm (65°F +) weather for Nouvelle Vague, otherwise it will hit your nose super wrong, either like a wet blanket or a hospital, sadly. I like it as a warm weather base scent because it’s not too sunscreeny, with more of a fig-vanilla emphasis, but still totally in the realm of “beachy” evoking exactly what the brand description says. I like to layer this oil with a spritz of Twilly d’Hermès to round it out a bit, with the tuberose and ginger. The mix turns creamy yet fresh, and super feminine for a warm spring/summer day. 🏖️

downright disgusting. scrubbed it off

Not bad, but not great for hot weather. It's warm but it's so much coconut (with the husk!). This is bright and dry. Nothing floral, fig background with a little citrus to brighten it. I get more vetiver than sandalwood and don't know which of the sweetening notes is bothering me more. I don't get much tonka. It could be the texture of the dry coconut + amber? Maybe it's the agave? This is earthy but somehow too sweet to settle well on me. I also smell eugenol. I remember being a little disappointed with this the first time I tried it. Will try again in cooler weather. Does not smell like Philosykos nor Debaser. Philosykos is a stunning (and my preferred) fig perfume. Unless this transforms in cooler weather, NV isn't a fig fragrance to me. Debaser is amazing but not as pretty of a wear (on me) as Philosykos; Debaser is more unisex and a deep, damp fig composition.
