Beach Walk

Beach Walk is the third Maison Margiela fragrance I’m reviewing, but it was the first one I ever tried because I had been told it smelled similar to Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc. In my opinion, it’s even better. When I was a child, in the late 1970s and early 1980s in Italy, there weren’t many sunscreens available, and the ones that existed smelled very much like Beach Walk. Yellow flowers and coconut. This fragrance is also a wonderful dive back into my childhood, and it doesn’t surprise me at all that its inspiration is Calvi in the 1970s. I find it delightful, and I completely disagree with those who say it doesn’t smell like a walk on the beach. The sandy note is absolutely noticeable, as is a marine nuance that makes it different from—and definitely better than—Soleil Blanc. I also completely disagree with the claim, made by many, that it is a distinctly feminine fragrance. This is exactly the scent my father too had on his skin after a day at the beach. Anche questo profumo è un meraviglioso tuffo nel passato della mia infanzia e non mi stupisce minimamente che l’ispirazione e’ Calvi negli anni 70. Lo trovo delizioso e non sono minimamente d’accordo che non sappia di passeggiate al mare: la nota di sabbia e’ assolutamente percepibile così come un sentore marino che lo rende diverso e decisamente migliore di Soleil Blanc. Anche il fatto che sia, a detta di molti, un profumo prettamente femminile non mi trova minimamente d’accordo: questo odore lo aveva sulla pelle anche mio padre dopo una giornata al mare.

If you, like me, love the summer scent of sweat and sunscreen and salty water- this is what you want. Smelling it and I get instantly transported, not to one specific place, but a flash of different memories throughout childhood, my first beach vacation, sleepovers at my aunt's house and spending all day swimming in her pool with my cousin, the hike up to the waterslide at camp, a birthday out by the lake... it's very comforting and nostalgic. To me it's completely unisex, I honestly don't know why this is considered a feminine fragrance. It's magical, truly, the first time I had such a really emotional reaction to a scent, I understand the hype around this brand now. My only hesitancy at buying a full bottle is the fact that it's almost *too* good at capturing this scent - it's very specific to the high heat of summer, and it's not necessarily 'office friendly' either. But I think it would layer beautifully! For men, I think this would be amazing with a aromatic bright citrus/marine scent. It's also quite strong, to my nose at least, *especially* for a scent of this specific profile. Love it, this brand does a great job bringing artistic perfumery to the masses - 9/10, will be getting a full bottle once we finally hit summer heat

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. The only other fragrance from the Replica line I enjoy on myself is Lazy Sunday Morning, and I typically do not like anything that is very citrus forward. I really love this though, it's truly special. It's more similar to Tom Ford's Soleil Blanc than to other Replica fragrances like Never-Ending Summer. The coconut and the ylang-ylang might be what's doing it for me, as well as the musk. Super photorealistic scent of what it sets out to be. While Soleil Blanc is a resort sunset, summer party in hot weather kind of vibe, Beach Walk is a nostalgic version of that, where you're a pre-teen vacationing with your parents somewhere and you stay out at the beach until the sun sets and this perfume is the smell you faintly feel in the air when you're walking back to your hotel or apartment. Sure, it doesn't project, but has a decent enough longevity for me. This is definitely going to be on my summer wishlist.

Adore! My immediate impression after spritzing this for the first time was: unremarkable and common. It’s oceanic for sure. As if the ocean seeped into a bottle of JPG Divine, watered it down, and ruined it. 20 minutes in, though, I changed my mind. Won me over when the lemon started shining! What a stroke of genius: lemon juxtaposed against almond, wood, spice, and sandy beach saltiness. Makes for a unique kind of gorgeous. Lucky for me, the lemon’s prominent on my skin. I don’t get coconut, though, like some other people do. It’s sandy in the vein of JPG Divine – which is something I love about both fragrances. And it gives *the* most gorgeous drydown: a veil of ylang ylang, heliotrope, and benzoin (3 of my favorite notes) dusts my skin and stays the whole day. Definitely one of my top favorites for summer.

I don't love every beach/sunscreen etc adjacent perfume, I didnt like bronze goddess or sunny side up or the tom ford one, but i like this one. I also love it beyond summer, like the fall but you wanna pretend it's still summer. It's so balanced and unique, the citrus and coconut may seem like the stars but I think it's the heliotrope and cedar that are making it so unique. It's both grounding and exciting at the same time. But also I feel like it isn't a fragrance you want to wear at home by yourself, like it makes you wanna go out really. And listening to Molly Lewis with her whistling while wearing beach walk on a super sunny but windy day is like such a vibe. I feel like beach walk is giving so much LA energy.

I love the scent of summer and this was a love at first sniff for me. Does it linger - sadly not but this is a Nostalgic smell for me - and whenever I wear it I am taken to the beach. Not a far flung beach but childhood on a surf beach in Cornwall vibes for me. I don't get sunscreen vibes from this the coconut note is barely detectable to me instead I get old skool sunscreen vibes - more 80's Nivea than Hawaiian tropic but in a good way. Its clean but fun like heading to the beach before you've dipped your toes in the sea its breezy and warm but not scorchio and you know you're going to have a fantastic day. Will always have this one in my collection for the memories at home its ageless and pretty unisex.

I’ve gone through multiple samples of Beach Walk by Maison Martin Margiela, and I finally decided to buy the full size. I like choosing a specific fragrance for each vacation, and this one has become my signature scent for North Carolina beach trips. Yellow florals usually aren’t my favorite, but something about this fragrance just works. Maybe it’s the blend of coconut and citrus. It feels smooth, a bit creamy, and never too sharp. I’m not a professional reviewer, but I know what I like, and this has a quiet elegance to it. Does it need to be reapplied often? Yes. But I don’t mind. You can apply it generously without it becoming overpowering. It's giving Nancy Meyers on a beach vacation.

I'm a little puzzled by the reviews that say this doesn't smell beachy. To me, this is the *precise* scent of a day at the beach. Sunscreen, warm sand, salty ocean air. I struggle to find perfumes that I enjoy, that don't give me a headache, or make me sneezy. So I tend to gravitate towards scents that aren't overly complex, and give the impression that I just naturally smell that awesome, haha. This is one of those scents! So if you're like me and like to wear fragrances that give off more of an aura and less of a perfumey punch, you'll probably like this. You'll just smell like a walking ball of nostalgic summer!

This perfume is my signature scent. I bought it because I was looking for a summery scent, but now that summer comes to a close, I don't think I'll part with this fragrance, even seasonally. I don't see any cons to this fragrance, apart from the price tag. However, if you can snag a deal on this one, it is so worth it. It has a white floral and salty, creamy coconut profile that I cannot get over. It genuinely smells like rays of the sun. I don't personally think the sillage is enormous, but my family says it is even after one spray on skin. 100/10 recommend, it's in my top 3 favorite fragrances of all time.

The most beautiful thing I’ve ever smelled, like heaven on earth. I keep finding myself going back to spray more it’s joy in a bottle just having this scent roaming around makes me the happiest I #Love smelling this in a way it’s so comforting and has such lovely peaceful vibes It makes me picture an empty beach with crashing waves being the only sound it’s sooooo lovelyyyyyyyyy & so so so so worth it!! It contains a creamy sunscreen note that’s so addicting and I keep getting a hint of something salty I can’t figure out what it is but wow. It’s quite literally the salty ocean aroma in a bottle

It's very much sunscreen but that's what makes it super nostalgic to me IMO. It reminds me of my favorite memories of summer camp, swimming in the pool with my friends until I'm too tired, walking back to the cabins and changing into warm, clean clothes, and the smell of sunscreen and chlorine still lingering on my skin as I take a short nap. I do think it's way too weak for how expensive it is, $150+ is crazy for a scent that doesn't really last on my skin. On clothes, though, it's much better. That's the only thing stopping me from getting anything more than a travel size of it honestly :(

This reminds me of wearing white linen on the beach, catching whiffs of the salty ocean breeze. Salty, light, and creamy coconut with some florals and citrus that do nothing more than create a soft and delightful fresh scent for the summer. Replica did a great job with this one. I commonly find an issue among a lot of fragrances with citrus notes, especially lemon, in which the fragrance becomes “screechy” and headache-inducing. In Beach Walk, the coconut and yellow florals manage to create a soft, creamy, and warm scent that develops beautifully throughout the day.

Absolutely beautiful fragrance. I think the scent is pure perfection, one that sets off memories and delight in many. Definitely a unisex scent imo, I could see myself wearing this often even as a man, a nice clean, coconutty, sunscreen, and oceanic vibe. Unfortunately, it is mostly a skin scent and doesn't last over 2 hours projection wise unless you bathe in it, however, I can look over it just for the smell. Is it my favorite Replica fragrance? No. Do I think it could be the best? 100%. 10/10 scent, 5/10 longevity, 3/10 projection, 10/10 uniqueness.

Yes this is basic but I just love it so much. It tickles my brain. I think I'm on my third bottle? So I'm obsessed. It definitely triggers crazy olfactory memories for me cause I bought this during one of the most memorable summers of my life. Now, every time I smell it, I transition to summer-happy-party mode. Then I put it away for September - June and when it comes back out, my body is ready. Replica Beach Walk and the sound of cicadas are the two things I associate with summer. I'll probably wear this forever

Literally has replicated the smell and vibes of walking on the beach. Salty, floral, slightly lemon-y. There's a hint of sunscreen which some people have complained about however I believe it fits perfectly at replicating the smell of a day at the beach - who doesn't have a beach day without sunscreen? It's perfect. Relatively good performance, stunning bottle as always with the Replica line. Not too headache-inducing unless you spray it a ton, but a couple sprays and it literally smells like a tropical holiday.

Literally smells like being at the beach. Completely captured the smell of coming home from a long day of swimming in the ocean and wearing sunscreen all day. I used to love smelling like this as a kid when my family and I would have beach days, and now as an adult, I do not get to enjoy that as much. If you want to smell like you live on the shore but in a rich and surfer sort of way, I highly recommend. This fragrance brings a lot of joy and they definitely nailed it.

I love this like I love a good pop song: it’s not sophisticated, but god, it’s so fun and just the right amount of sexy. Maybe it’s because I grew up by the ocean and this perfectly captures the smell of sunscreen, sea salt, and skin. Now, as an adult, I live in a subtropical climate again. It’s late May and the heat is right on the cusp of unbearable, and I’m having a great time wearing this alone or layered with my older bottle of White Musk for Men.

this is such a perfect vacation scent!! very light scent which isn't headache-inducing or nauseating. strongly reminds me of soleil blanc however its like a more powdery feminine version which i honestly prefer, however it could for sure be unisex. definitely a summer fragrance, i personally would not wear it in the colder months. it also lasts so long on the skin, i would literally be in the pool and could still smell it on my skin.

It really smells like a beach walk on a sunny day, it brings inner warmth! It's like wearing sunscreen, it's cozy and comfortable, citrusy on the spray, but then it settles into a creamy quality of lotion-like comfort and breezy, fresh florals. This may pair up well with a saline mist for the hair, so that when the breeze hits you can get the full beach walk experience, but on its own it's fantastic. I adore it.

My favorite fragrance. Leans a bit feminine, but not even close to being considered "for women". Surprisingly long lasting for an EDT on my skin. First ~3 hours of arm-lenght projection, then another 6 hours as a skin scent. Pretty linear imo, so be aware. A bit sunscreen-y, fresh and a bit sweet, and the coconut note is incredible. Would definitely recommend, 9.5/10, just wish there was an EDP version.

This is one of my favorite Replica scents. As for beach scents, they've been done before, and it's hard to make one stick out as exceptional. After some deliberation, I think it's because the coconut milk is balanced perfectly here so that it's not overpowering, but supports the other notes. The ylang-ylang really shines through beautifully. If I could only have one Replica scent, it would be this one!

One of the best beach-inspired fragrances on the market. The "sun-kissed salty skin" description on the bottle is spot on. It captures that exact moment of drying off in the sun after a dip in the ocean. It’s creamy, solar, and nostalgic. While it’s easily a 9/10 for me, don't expect a projection beast; it stays closer to the skin, creating a personal scent bubble that feels intimate rather than loud.

It's amazing. I got the 10ml bottle as a blind buy and at first I wasn't impressed but now after a few days I'm in love. It's a light extra fresh and clean scent. Reminds me of clean laundry. It stays on clothes for days. It's also perfect for work or uni, it's light and fresh but it lasts long. For me it's totally worth it and I will buy the big bottle for sure.

i got this as a sample and let me just say- it smells like a walk on the beach.. well except for the seaweed which im glad it doesn't have. It's intimate and not too fancy but its just so... memorable in a way i don't know if its the beachy smell going along with the smell of sunscreen. It just smells like that one week summer vacation on the beach as a kid. <3

This is my favorite of the Replica line - it’s really well done. It has a similar vibe to Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc. The citrusy coconut summer vibe is immaculate. It’s a bit salty and very musky, makes you feel like you’ve spent the day at the beach. You’re back home but you can still smell the ocean, the beach, the sunscreen and the drink. Perfect name.

think it might be just me but the creaminess of the coconut here remind me a bit of fig perfumes, which for me is the best creaminess (lol what did i write). last very long on me too, projecting like crazy after hours, better than some other perfumes i sprayed on me today (i tried 5? on different part of my skin). put this on my watch list.

Just the thought of this makes my mouth water. I can't wait to buy a bottle. I think I've tried many "sunscreen" perfumes, this is the one. Not Soleil Blanc, not Vanill Vibes, not Bronze Goddess, but Beach Walk!!! It doesn't really read as something you put on, but something that becomes one with you and a part of your vibe.

Man, I love Beach Walk so much. It's truly my perfect summer scent. Slightly floral, slightly salty, slightly coconutty. It's a warm breeze in the late afternoon at the Jersey Shore. I don't care how mainstream, popular, or overdone everyone thinks this is - to me, it's perfect.

it doesnt really smell like a beach walk, but it still does smell very nice, its probably the nicest floral scent ive ever smelled from all the other floral ones ive smelled, its really realistic, like actual flowers, and its super nostalgic and evokes many memories.

its summer vacation: you're freshly showered after getting back from sunbathing and just sprayed on a bit of clean slightly soapy perfume but you can still smell sunscreen faintly. thats what this smells like to me and i love it !!!!

I want to say this just smells like an average bottle of sunscreen, but it does have a sophisticated edge to it that makes me feel kinda classy while wearing it. Think I'll at least pick up a travel size of this for the summer.

I absolutely love this scent ...I have a big collection and I've had almost every replica scent ..this one last the longest and just reminds me of when I was a child and my dad put to much sunscreen on me which I weirdly love !

My first lux fragrance I splurged on. It's my favorite scent in the world. I'm half way through the full sized bottle and if I don't find a new "signature" scent fr special occasions I might have to re-up.

Banger fragrance that is fresh, interesting, and clean. However, if you are not a fan of the smell of sunscreen this may not suit you. Not a safe blind buy but still a very solid fragrance. 8/10

Such a beautiful fragrance for the summer time. I purchased a 30ml bottle as a blind buy based purely off its description and I’m so glad I did although I do wish I got the bigger bottle now

Smells like an incredibly pleasent version of the sunscreen i would wear to the pool as a kid. VERY strong ylang ylang and some coconut. 8.5/10, great for summer <3

A lovely summery, citrusy, floral opening with a salty, creamy coconut dry down. I really love it for hot summer days but the longevity is only a couple of hours.

For me this is just a extreme performance soleil blanch, on my skin lasted around 8-9 hours and for an maison margiela lowkey impressed.

Sweet sunscreen. I love it for a summer/vacation scent. It doesn’t have a weird plastic smell, just ylang and coconut. :)

sunscreen coconut bliss. i'm a fan

this is a very floral summer perfume. upon initial spray, i can mainly smell coconut and ylang ylang with perhaps just a hint of lemon. there is a hint of seasalt, perhaps. for me, it is like a beachy chanel no.5 almost. i believe this is due to the ylang ylang which both perfumes feature. chanel no.5 has a lot of haters (i am not one of them, i adore it) but i don't think its haters would hate beach walk despite their similar DNA. for one, beach walk does not have aldehydrates or a powderiness that gives chanel no.5 the "grandma" feel. but it still does smell vintage to me. which does not surprise, because its inspiration is the calvi beach in 1972. to me, the scent evokes the feeling of looking through your older relatives' beach pictures. it's warm, it's pleasant. as it sits, the bergamot comes through to me more and the coconut loses its power, though it does not disappear completely. alongside the lemon, it becomes a floral citrus scent. 8 hours later, the coconut is completely lost, the ylang ylang turns subtle, and the scent becomes one primarily of bergamot and lemon. still enjoyable, but not as much as the initial spray for me. i don't think this is the ultimate summer fragrance, but i do enjoy it. 7/10

Surprising result for my wear test. TLDR: Similar to TF soleil blanc. The dossier dupe for TF soleil blanc smells identical and therefore I’d buy the more affordable dupe. Beach walk was more noticeable on clothes and therefore lasts longer and smells better. If you apply a generous amount to clothes like I did (shirt/neck/chest) you will have a nice noticeable scent bubble that will last you several hours. Very pretty. Calming Smooth creamy fluffy. Coconut fresh summer vibes. Nice scent bubble. For my wear test I applied a couple sprays to the back of my hand and it dissipated fairly quickly. Convinced it wouldn’t last, I then applied the remainder of my sample vial generously to my shirt, neck, chest and went for a 3 mile walk in 90’degree humidity. It’s been 3 hours since application and I can still smell the scent bubble coming off of my upper body but cannot detect it on my hand. I really like this scent but would rather buy the more affordable dossier dupe of TF soleil blanc which is identical, rather than getting the more expensive full size replica BW since I had to apply a lot to really experience and enjoy beach walk.

Sampled: smells like skin warmed by the sun, with previously applied and already dried sunscreen projecting off the skin under the heat. The pink pepper makes the opening half hour or so of the fragrance really smelled like you're being heated. It's hot, but not stuffy, since the fragrance is airy... it really smells like being heated by the sun, standing in the sunshine. I can even kinda smell the sand (but it's more of a boardwalk than on-the-beach scent), though that's probably placebo. It's actually really cool and nails the concept right on the head. I feel like this is what SDJ 87 wanted to achieve. Actually, the drydown of Beach Walk just smells like SDJ 87 to me, (sunlotion, emphasis on the lotioney aspect) but more airy, ozonic even. But yeah, the scent is about the same. Like, ~90% accuracy dupe territory. (It's like Beach Walk is applying the scent of skin with dried sunlotion onto your skin, whereas SDJ87 is just applying the scent of sunlotion)
