Flower Market

I always forget how nice this is. Which certainly speaks to the fact that this is far from being the sort of memory that lingers with you, but, inversely, also means that Flower Market is a gentle surprise every time I revisit it. This is a soft, fresh cut floral with dewy green leaves, still damp and just-purchased. It's a pale, pale pink bouquet picked up on an overcast morning, some idyllic springtime Saturday. It's perhaps less a memory- although it is, without a doubt, a realistic portrait- than it is a fantasy of optimistic romanticism. It's a valentine, it's a leisurely walk in a garden, it's a jazz record playing in the next room. It's a quiet little fragrance that invites you to stop and enjoy that quiet for a while. Flower Market is not a scent that's going to be the star of anyone's collection; it's easily upstaged by the more indolic florals and smoky spices that I find myself gravitating towards. But what it does evoke exceptionally well is a little moment of simple sensory pleasure, the sort of moment where you can't help but think to yourself how nice life can be, even if only for now. A post script: For all my talk of Flower Market not being a crown jewel in anyone's fragrance wardrobe, I think this is a case of not knowing what you have until you think you've lost it. For months on end, this seemed out of stock everywhere I searched, with rumors swirling of potential discontinuation, and as I watched my miniature slowly dwindle down to dregs after a year of carefully measured use, I realized that if this was it, I was really going to miss this sweet, simple little memory. When I discovered that Maison Margiela somehow now has full size bottles of this available on their website? I'm shocked at how little I hesitated. I guess I'm just not ready to say goodbye just yet.

Like all the Maison Margiela perfumes, the opening is impeccable - a gigantic waft of fresh flowers and for the first 1.5 hours, you really can imagine strolling through a Parisian flower market. There is something a little empty and synthetic in the middle notes. (So, it gives you a rest.) The dry down draws out as a monosyllabic trail of jasmine. Almost, like a jasmine shrub at twilight moving into night. I fell in love with Flower Market as my first Maison Margiela perfume. I waited until there was a good price available. There are probably tons of similar perfumes on the market at cheaper prices. I didn't feel like hunting for another. The composition of this perfume hit the right notes for me. I believe that's because there is a green floral quality behind the white florals that makes it resemble a bouquet of fragrant fresh flowers. It's not over complicated or resinous like a typical French perfume. There's nothing dated or old about it. Nothing soapy or powdery. Longevity is great, even in hot weather, but it's never over bearing or suffocating. Two sprays is plenty. I don't understand why Flower Market isn't a more popular choice.

It's 2015, you're a junior in high school. You walk by sephora and your dad randomly tells you he wants to gift you a new perfume because it has been a while. He lets me explore the scents and I ask him which he likes. This one was his favorite. As I get ready for school, that following Monday, I jump into my high-waisted American Apparel denim jeans. I wiggle my ribbed, scoop neck baby tee over my nude, lace-y Urban Outfitters bralette. I put my hair into a high pony tail with a black ribbed scrunchii that I bought in a set of 5 to share with my mom. I adorn my ears with a cool-toned sterling silver earrings, gifted by mom from Icing (iykyk). I cleanly apply, then blot, a blue-toned red lipstick from clinique that my mom got at macy's as a part of their gift bags. The quiet girl in class that minds her own, but brings forth a gentle, welcoming smile once addressed. This scent was my signature fragrance for a while. To me this embodies girls from age 15-19, obsessed with tumblr, spotify playlists, dabbles in watercolor, journals a lot, and enjoys long walks through the neighborhood.

Listen, before I bought it I read the reviews here, although I see a lot of people criticizing this perfume because the scent is not so special so I was also very hesitant before buying. To be honest, I bought it because there is a tester version on Joma for a pretty cheap price, and what I was looking for was a bottle of jasmine and tuberose that was not too strong and affordable. Replica Flower Market has done just that.It's fair to say its scent is not as bad as many commenters here. Is a scent of jasmine and tuberose that is quite fresh and sweet enough, not too strong, it is just enough to keep you at work 8 hours a day and still smell fresh. And enough for a colleague sitting next to me to say: "You smell so good!". I'm glad I bought it, it's true that this scent is familiar and you may have smelled it somewhere with other brands but I still rate it well and recommend it to those who are not too picky with perfume. I will be buying more Replica scents

This is the love of my life! It is the best floral perfume i ever had. I love it so much that i bought 2 big bottles within 2 days. Because i worry it may discontinued. Maybe i should get anothet 2 bottles as spares. Just in case. Anyway, When u smell it, it is like u are really in flower market-- smells of fresh flowers, cut stems, green leaves! No floral perfume has ever been so perfectly done. It smells REAL, not synthetic like any other floral perfume. It is suitable for spring, summer and probably autumn. Day time for sure. This perfume makes u smell fresh with positive energy, like u bring sunny weather everywhere u go. If a guy wear this, i would definitely get attracted to him. This is like a fresh + happy go lucky smell of floral perfume. Dont hesitate, just get it!

I will try to be as short as possible as I know that people dont like to read long reviews. This may be one of the few fragrances from the Replica line that I absolutely adore. Even though Im a male I think that this scent is absolutely suitable for these gentleman who prefer dressing in flower button ups. As I already said i dont like many of the Replica scents like By the fireplace, at the barbers or jazz club ( the typical male scents), but Flower Market and Coffee Break are the ones I adore. Its really recognizable scent for me, and maybe the best one i've ever smelled. A very clean, floral, summer scent, like walking in a garden full of Gerbera daisy. If a woman wears this while around me will receive a compliment for sure!

Oh so lovely! Flower Market takes me straight back to the 90s and the height of all things Laura Ashley, floral and chintz. Freesia takes center stage in this classically pretty fragrance with a floral bouquet of jasmine, tuberose, lily of the valley and rose rounding out any sharp edges. A hint of peach adds just a touch of natural sweetness. Green and powdery - yet slightly dewy - Flower Market is as fresh as a spring day after the rain! If you are looking for a crisp and cool floral that indeed smells of a Flower Market or even the inside of a florist's greenhouse cooler, this is perfect! Sadly discontinued, but still readily available on the grey market, so get it while you can!

This was a real surprise for me! I am not one for floral perfumes, and wasn't excited to try this one, but I actually REALLY enjoy it! It really is evocative of walking through a flower market! I love that you can smell the green-ness and watery-ness too. I cannot believe the longevity on it, either: 10 hours after spraying in the crook of my elbow, I could still smell it!! I personally think it would be best during spring or the early days of summer (not a chilly fall or winter day like today), and will put my sample away until spring, to see if I will order a full bottle of it. What a delightful find, and the reason a discovery set is such a wonderful choice!

This is a truly stellar, classically feminine, and dignified perfume. I think some of the negative reviews are from people who need every perfume to be pretentiously complex and niche. It smells exactly like what the title says: a flower market. If you don't like florals or the smells of authentic flowers filling a room, or are somehow triggered or bored by it, then why are you even wearing this perfume? This is a perfume for those that want to smell like an exquisite garden of sumptuous flowers and enjoy smelling pretty instead of unusual. There's nothing lovelier than pretty scents.

I'm wearing this for the first time, currently at work and at hour 4 since I sprayed it this morning and I would say I am quite impressed with the performance despite being an EDT. This smells realistic...realistic as in bouquet of flowers that I used to receive from my ex-boyfriend. The smell of fresh white flowers, inoffensive and to me, romantic fragrance. I am not good at talking about notes and all, but considering I am a big fan of amber note, I am quite surprise I like this perfume as much I love Nishane Ani. Phew

Half a squirt will do you and everyone in your company for an entire day. Seriously no need to ever spray more than once. The first half hour is very strong almost too strong of white floral. As it melds into your skin, you truly smell like a floral market. It is exactly as is described. Ive sprayed this on fresh folded laundry and come back weeks later and it still smells of this. I do love it though. I imagine this as the smell of a bride and her flowers as she walks down the aisle in spring.

During the first 15 minutes, I was not impressed at all. Then lovely Jasmine scent kicked in... I immediately order 2 big bottles. This fragrance reminds me of my childhood trips to Buddhist temples with my mother near Lunar New Year in Vietnam in the early 90s. We were always given jasmine leis when we left and I kept them until they turned brown and dried up. My little heart broke a bit when I had to throw them away. <3 It is an absolute love from me. Memory I hold dear to my heart forever!

Flower Market by Maison Martin Margiela was aptly named! It really is a literal flower market that smells of bright florals, green leaves, and freshly cuts stems. I wish they made this in a body wash or shampoo because the freesia smells so clean and soapy. My absolutely favorite thing about this scent is that it’s not sugary or synthetic smelling at all; it smells raw and true to the source. Very feminine; always makes me want to wear lace and shades of pink when I smell it!

I love this because it really reminds me of walking through a flower market, wet leaves, cut stems and all. Love wearing this on hot days or after a shower. The smell is fresh floral, freesia and rose are most prominent to me. It has a real easy going feel to it, perfect for weekends or lounging at home, and is not one I would wear to a serious work meeting or evenings out. However doesn't last on me for long at all which is the only down side of this perfume for me.

A bouquet on a sunny morning! Unlike most florals, Flower Market represents the whole flower: from stem to petal. It's a delicate, fresh and realistic iteration of it, rather than an abstract representation of the qualities associated with it, however. This was most definitely my most successful blind buy to date, but the longevity is nothing special (although it's not as short-lived as Jo Malone creations). Water jasmine, rose and tuberose... Yum.

True to life floral, smells like freshly cut flowers and has a touch of green earthiness , probably from the oakmoss. It gives it a realistic finish. Smells fresh and powdery and since it’s realistic and not a sweet floral perfume rendition , this in my opinion can be used as unisex although florals will always have a more feminine connotation. I really really like it and it will be especially great in spring. Shame it’s discontinued

wow... this one is really a flower market. the first note i detected was jasmine... a pile of fresh small unfurled jasmine sambac flowers. then tuberose-rose-ultra light freesia appears. i can say this perfume is the most similar to fresh jasmine sambac flowers i've encountered so far. the opening totally reminded me of standing nearby a jasmine stall in fresh flower market.

I love Maison Marigelas replica line ! This one is more close to a like than a love. The opening is great. Really smells like fresh cut flowers. Amazing ! The dry Down is more so - so.. silage is ok but longevity is below average. A fine flower scent, soft and feminine. The replica it self is spot on. Just mit my favorite of them all, but still a pretty good one though.

this reminds me of when my mom would take my older sister, grandmother, and i to the philadelphia flower show. rooms filled with vast floral arrangements and lots of oohing and ahing. i fell in love with this many years ago and finally got myself a bottle after its discontinuation. some people tell me i smell like a grandma, but i just feel like a bouquet

This scent does not last at all. If I spray it on my skin It’ll be gone in minutes. Spraying it on my clothing is the only way I can enjoy it. If it wasn’t for the lasting power this would be my signature scent. This fragrance is soft and gentle. It’s aquatic and floral. Reminds me of a flower garden after a rainy morning.

~♥~ I ordered a sample of this, tried it and ABSOLUTELY *LOVE* it...The notes that jump out are freesia, tuberose and jasmine sambac...On my skin, this trio is the best combo ever...the green notes are also divine -- they're the 'cherry on top.' I hate freesia, tuberose, jasmine and peach! And yet, here, it all works so wonderfully!! What kind of witchery is this? Absolutely beautiful floral and joyful fragrance that is in my top 10 for life! And that’s saying something since I have a big collection!!! Sample first!

so far one of the best replicas. i dont get why the rating isnt higher. sure its a little bit sharp but its not much of a dealbreaker. very dewy, beautiful and realistic pink florals. not red, but pink if you get me. if it wasnt so sharp itd be my signature fragrance by now.

a kinda basic white floral fragrance but i love it nonetheless, smells like a bouquet of flowers on a sunny spring day, isnt overwhelming or headache-enducing. Hated this at first but it grew on me, and has now become one of my all time favourite scents for hot days !

This is a beautiful floral, shining in spring and summer. The opening is a bit screechy, but after 10 minutes it softens down and from then it’s all jasmine, tuberose, peppery freesia and rose, blended perfectly. I really love this and I’m sorry I ignored it before.

Longevity is bad, but I absolutely ADORE how it smells. Very fresh and with a strong initial burst of floral! Wish it was a bit less fleeting. My mother says that it reminds her of how her grandmother used to smell- My great grandmother had great taste, I guess!

The most photorealistic bouquet of flowers I've ever encountered in a fragrance. This is running to the flower market before meeting up with an old friend. I'm extremely upset that this has been discontinued—my favorite Margiela scent along with Jazz Club.

For me this is an airy fresh floral perfume that delivers its claim; the scent of a flower market in the morning when flowers are freshly cut and blooming. It's well blended and inoffensive for office environment. It's kind of pretty and sweet yet mature.

Smells like freshly cut wet flowers in a luxurious flower shop, or a freshly rained on garden of flowers and grass. It has a very calming effect and great projection. My favorite floral scent as it doesn't smell “soapy” and doesn't give me a headache

My new signature scent for sure! I blind bought a full size off ebay hoping that I would like it and I was not dissapointed! Floral, yes, but a soft, green, fresh floral rather than a powdery, musky floral.

This perfume on me does not smell synthetic at all. It smells like fresh flowers. To be specific, it smells like walking through an easter flower market. One of my favorite "non perfumey" perfumes.

Maison Margiela's Replica line is all about capturing specific moments, places and memories as accurately as possible. This results in fragrances that can be captivating, or off-putting, because they strive for realism along with romanticism. This is the case with Flower Market. On paper, with those notes and the description–a flower market in Paris France in the early 2010s–one would imagine that this fragrance is a light, easy and super sweet spring floral. And it is–with a twist. Flower Market is equal parts rose, white floral and green notes. The green notes read as slightly earthy, even a little dirt-like. Not in a bad or unclean way, just in a natural way–exactly as you would smell in a real life flower shop. Replicas differ in sillage and lasting power. This is an intimate scent, so-so to short longevity. Performance wise, it's pretty mild, nothing crazy. It has a nice, green and powdery finish, with the freesia note lingering the longest despite being a top note. The rose and jasmine heart notes are present but understated, they're mostly backup players to the sweet and slightly soapy tuberose. I don't read any fruit or peach, but I can detect the mossy finish–again, that complements the green "market" notes of Flower Market. It's a pleasant and likable scent. While not as memorable or long-lasting as, say "When the Rain Stops" (my favorite of this line) or "By the Fireplace," is a sweet but not cloying spring floral that's hard to dislike.

Tried this at Mecca counter and out of all the Maison Margeila fragrances , I liked this the best . My initiation into the perfume house . I’m in love with green ,white florals and on initial spray ,it captivated me with the green freesias and Jasmine. So beautiful that I wished the opening notes lasted longer . I noticed this was very similar to High Line and Hudson Yards by Bond No 9. It’s clean , green , elegant , not cloying but a straightforward floral fragrance which is how I like it . However , on my skin I can’t smell the Tuberose, peach or oakmoss (thank god! As oakmoss on my skin borderlines on a masculine scent ) . Flower Market to me , smells nothing like Infloresence as some reviewers mention. I don’t get the stems and all floral . This is so much prettier although I find it a predominantly rose scent after the opening notes pass. My only qualm with Flower Market is that the notes come across as watered down and synthetic . The same as with High Line and Hudson Yard ( Bond No. 9 an extremely expensive brand ) for the price not sure if it’s worth it . Although this type of scent is my cup of tea - linear , green , classy florals , I find that it doesn’t stand out in any way especially its synthetic notes and I’m not really a fan of rose scents . Update : my daughter bought me a bottle for Christmas and I now have a pretty rose scent in my collection. On a positive note- it’s projection and longevity is outstanding !!!

A lovely part of the Replica sample box. I would say it's less like walking through a flower market - would need the smell of buckets of water splashing onto cobblestones and I'm not getting that here. For my rural North American self, it's more like one of those humid early summer days where you can see pollen floating through the air on first spray. After about an hour it's more like hiking over to a field of wildflowers to hang with your friends. That might be the oakmoss lending it some forest-adjacent vibes. It's not the fresh green of cut stems, it's stems well-rooted in a meadow where you lie back to only see flower tops waving and the pollen drifting by against a clear blue sky. Projects very well, I probably wouldn't wear this to an enclosed workspace. I have lots of different pollen allergies, and on first spray this made my nose think that maybe that's what we were going to be experiencing today. Been wearing for an hour and it's still very prominent, and I imagine it'll last all day.

It’s flowers in a bottle. A little powdery, which I do not mind one bit. I wear this everyday pretty much, but it’s such a shame it doesn’t last very long on me. It doesn’t smell synthetic at all, at least not to me. Instantly a clean scent, like a few of Replica’s line. Smells like dewy flowers, not sweet as such but not like a bitter. Minimal warmth. I’d imagine it smells lovely during the summer, when it’s more of a refreshing fragrance. The rose isn’t powerful one bit, and I do smell the Freesia. I absolutely love the replica bottles however, I find them very pleasing on the eye. It’s good, but I would recommend finding a sample / 30mls first, because it is a very pricey perfume to dive into right away if you don’t like it. Much like all the other replicas, expensive, but they are pleasant. Nothing all too memorable though, sadly.

Not much to say more than what has been said below. Flower Market is a bouquet of white florals in a bottle. It's nice and beautiful, like fresh flowers, but not unique. (Tried from a 1ml decant.) I don't mind that it's not unique. I think this scent suits my preference. It's not cloying and it's pretty light. Not sure if I want a bottle but I wouldn't mind if I actually bought one. My only complaint is that it may be too generic and there are others out there at better prices. Looking up on 'this perfume smells like' category, I notice someone put Yves Rocher's Comme une Evidence there. I can see the similarities. Out of the four decants I bought recently by this brand (Whispers in the Library, Sailing Day, Springtime in a Park, and Flower Market), I like Flower Market the most and dislike all the rest.

i was stunned to find that the opening of this is *actual* flowers. like 'flower store' flowers. like 'bouquet of flowers' flowers. like 'sitting in a field of flowers' flowers. like 'sniffing a bush' flowers. i cannot emphasize enough that this actually smells like flowers - not like most floral perfumes that are vaguely 'inspired' by flowers and smell lovely in their own right (think flowerbomb, miss dior, idole, daisy, etc), but the actual nature-y smell that comes from fresh cut dewy flowers. in the dry down, i pick up on that jasmine and cedar which is nice. but i have to say, it's the opening of this that really intrigues me. i guess that's the point of the replica line (which i'm relatively new to) - to truly replicate scents, and with this one, they've really done it.

My first impression a few months ago was of sticking my nose into a big white bouquet while sipping a peach iced tea. After a while the peachy scent really took over. I decided to try it again today and this time I didn’t notice that much peach at all, but it reminded me of a perfume that my grandmother used to wear- my mom said it was like Joy, which was one of her favorites for many years. I also went through a big freesia phase when I was about twelve and first visited Bath and Body Works. All to say, this is not the most unique perfume but it is done well. It’s polished and ladylike, and the floral scent is pretty strong. Buuut you could probably find something similar that costs less.

This is very pleasant. I'm not generally one who will reach for a floral fragrance - some have been hits for me, but many have been misses. I find a lot of florals on me are so strong they are headache-inducing. However, Flower Market isn't like that. It's floral, but remarkably fresh and light. Tuberose is the strongest note for me here, and it's well done. I also don't know why - and I don't think anyone else has mentioned this (so perhaps I'm losing it lol) - but it almost reminds me of sunscreen. Not in a bad way. I do enjoy the fragrance - I don't get longevity with this house most of the time unfortunately, so I don't think I'd buy a full bottle.

Something that doesn't stop amazing me about MMM is how vivid the scents are. As soon as I spray them on, a picture comes to mind. I know that's the idea, but I must be either extremely suggestible or these fragrances really delight the senses the way they're supposed to. This scent is as realistic as it gets when it comes to fresh flowers. For me, though, the market isn't outside; it's inside and the flowers are being preserved in cold refrigerators. For those who find freesia a bit abrasive, it's softer and less sharp in this blend. Also ... no headaches or sinus responses either. PS, I think me and @max_fumehead got samples from the same batch.

when you first spray this? woah, an explosion of jasmine sambac and rose de mai and tuberose, it borders on being too much BUT as it starts to dry down, the freesia and green notes slowly rear their heads and once it fully settles in it evens out and the cedarwood base note warms it up a touch. even though its a super strong white floral it some how pulls off being totally inoffensive. its kind of dreamy, the vibe is “i just got home from working in the flower shop and have had my arms shoved up to my elbows in bouquets all day” or “i’m ready for a summertime picnic and a frolic through a field of flowers”
