Hot Leather

Definitely male at first application. Then a bit of sweetness floated forward and the fragrance was in the citrus bergamot part. Never got any coriander. Then it was pretty much gone. Within 15 minutes there is a bit of patchouli left on my skin and that's only evident up close. No sillage or longevity to speak of. What a disapointment since I don't get any leather and with a name like "hot leather" I expected a fragrance to be racy, aggressive and/or at least last a decent amount of time on my skin.

I was pleasantly surprised with this creation by Mark Buxton. The leather is blended with iris and topped with a huge dollop of patchouli. The result is more of an oriental perfume than I had been expecting--and also more feminine than masculine. The name connoted something else entirely to me. Something I'd imagine in a hardcore bar filled with pierced people who wear iron maidens, etc. Instead, Hot Leather is more brothel ready. Well, I've never actually visited a brothel, so let's just say that it matches my concept of a brothel. One on the cleaner side of town.

I'm still convinced that Mark Buxton delivers much better fragrances when he is committed by other brands than when he creates them for his own, and in this context "Hot Leather" makes no exception. A floral leather (?) composition that instead of recallilng luxury shows an overall decadence that's quite far from being compelling. Mr. Buxton describe his composition as "an evening at the Moulin Rouge!", and that's perfect if you're obsessed with hookers dancing the can-can. Rating: 5/10

Very classy leather scent, not over the top. I probably wouldnt buy a FB though as leather really isnt my thing, but I can appreciate that its a quality leather scent for a man or woman.
