Trouble In Paradise

If you know Tales from Zanzibar, and you loved it, then you will love this, and although what I'm about too say might put you off, but if you *loved* TFZ then you will still go out and buy this. This fragrance to put it simply is a swap of coconut for mango version of TFZ. It's exotic, it's gorgeous, and the only other contender from my PoV is Xerjoff's Cruz del Sur II, and it's a tad synthetic by comparison. If there is one thing in my books that MOAPC can do right, it's creating a very realistic version of a very difficult accord/note to pull off, and that is mango in this instance and coconut in TFZ's instance, the only other frag that pulls coconut off brilliantly is Creed's Virgin Island Water. It's a great fragrance, but is it worth the dough? Normally I'd say yes, but for me, £165 for 50ml doesn't cut the mustard if I'm honest, so unless you are a die hard mango fan and want a mango version of TFZ I'd personally give it a miss. Do I regret my purchase? Hell no! Would I buy a second bottle? highly unlikely. Would I buy anything new from MOAPC again? 100% yes. Life's too short, if in doubt, go out and buy it. Great fragrance? Yes, Versatile? in a playful way yes, Gender specific? Well unless you identify as a mango, then no, it might be perceived as cannibalism (take my sense of humour with a pinch off salt!) UPDATE: This has turned into a love, this is not monolithic as I thought, this does evolve a lot later in the dry down as it becomes a skin scent I kept on getting shafts of what appeared to me to smell *exactly* like Cuban cigar leaves, as in the real thing. The difference being is that it had a fruity smell, one that resonated of a bit like cherry-mango-ish, tropical excluding coconut. It was baffling me then I realised I had sprayed this hours and hours before so I wore it again, and my initial thoughts still stand except MOAPC have gone a level or 2 up in the game of perfecting a tropical scent. I do NOT think there is a tropical scent out there, that is quite like this, this is very very well done. Enjoy and God bless....

This is an awesomeeee tropical fragrance. I can mainly smell the mango and boozy notes but other than that I can’t pick out any specific notes. It doesn’t have the most amazing performance on me but keep in mind it’s January so who knows, maybe it will have great performance in the heat. I do think it could be a good fragrance for fall. The boozy notes give me that kind of vibe. It does in fact smell like paradise, I plan on going to Hawaii this summer and it will likely be one of my main fragrances for that trip. I really like this one and I think it’s one of if not my favorite mango fragrances. On my skin the mango isn’t synthetic at all which I can really appreciate. Definitely a fragrance worth trying from an underrated brand!

Seductive and Tropical is how i would describe this, and is definetly going on my top 3. On My skin, the boozy notes are very prominent throughout my wearing, the mango is a very natural and photorealistic, so it gives a sweet fuity smell which is very unique, the middle notes smells very rich and seductive, with the base notes extremly masculine, overall a very pleasent scent, i enjoy it very ,7-8 hours longevity, 3-4 hours of medium projection, a 10/10 scent there is weaarable for spring, summer and autumn, but i do see some people not fancying this very much so my advice is pls sample, this is niche quality.

I was worried about the oud, leather and animalic notes in this. But don't worry if you're not a fan of those notes, I'm not either. This is a sparkly, juicy, a bit sour, creamy mango scent. It develops and a light oud shines through with some sweetness and becomes more creamier. Unique for sure! Doesn't last that long on my skin, projection is on the lower end. Gonna give it some sitting. (75ml bottle 2025) Scent: 9/10 for it's uniqueness and delicioussness. Performance: 5/10 only wore it once. So far moderate - weaker end.

Nice realistic mango with sweet, citrusy and woody notes. Pure tropical scent: not too sweet, not too musky. I think it has a bit of booziness in it as well. For me it smells like a frozen mango daiquiri: refreshing, summery and delicious. After a while it becomes slightly darker and you can feel more of oud and leather notes, but still very subtle ones. Delicious. This is my kind of tropical, without any coconut! Such a smooth and sophisticated mango with a boozy nuance and a creamy, soft oud woody leathery base. Nothing screechy or skanky here and blended to perfection. Unisex leaning. I carry samples at Nectar Atelier.

simple mango juice fragrance, but it has a beautiful charm to it, evolves from a creamy mango juice to a rubbery warm mango with a cake-like feel to it. projection isnt the wildest, longevity is good for a summer scent 7-8hrs. simple but amazing

Really nice fragrance. To me it's Side Effect adjacent with a little Baccarat Rouge coming through in the dry down.

The pinnacle of tropical perfumery, almost impossible to find better

I smelt this in Les Senteurs last week and bought a sample which I wore yesterday. The initial scent is gorgeous - juicy, ripe and fresh mango. On a blotter that's pretty much the only note I get. On skin, the leather is very subtly perceptible, but just enough to ground the scent and give it a base that doesn't feel completely transparent. I don't like leather, oud or boozy notes generally so was a bit unsure how many of those notes would be noticeable, and to me, they're really very undetectable aside from anchoring the scent and giving it body. I got a few whiffs throughout the day, but have to say the performance for me only seemed moderate in longevity (4-5 hours) and the sillage was moderate, but on the lower side. This is based on just one day's wear so I'm hoping I'll get another test out of my sample, but if I don't get better performance it might scupper my plan to purchase. The mango scent itself in the opening is fantastic - the best representation of this note that I've smelt. But I would say I expected more from the performance given this is an extrait. There is definitely a MOAPC DNA in this - I used to own Zanzibar and in the air after an hour or so, this smelt very similar to that - a breezy, slightly (but not overly) sweet airiness that feels like this house's signature (at least across these summery, fruity scents, I haven't smelt the rest of line so can't comment on those) so I would also say if you have that, this is very similar with just the guava swapped for mango (despite the difference in notes), to the point where I can't imagine the need to own both.

Unique, slightly-boozy mango scent. Probably more rum than cognac (if I had to specify), and I do get the caramel. Those are the legs balancing this plate of tropical goodness, and keep it from going too feminine for my tastes. Meant for hotter weather, but I actually feel like it’s bass-y enough to use throughout the year. None too piercing, it’s a smooth mango-flavored scent, that reminds me of shisha or tropical gum. Obviously a very high-quality version, but I can see that putting someone off because of the price. Performance is good, and it’s a welcome addition to my collection, but I do think I might be on the fence if I had to pay full price.

An over-ripe mango squashed in a mound of dirt. Despite it reminding me of that imagery, it does still manage to come across pretty nice although could be pretty challenging for some. I prefer less challenging scents so I passed on this but I do think it is pretty good! Upon wearing my sample, one of the female co workers thought it smelt really girly! I found that surprising as it leans more on the masculine side to me lol.

I get a strong whiff of passion fruit even though it’s not one of the notes listed. It’s very sweet and fruity. Although it’s nice, I don’t think it smells like the price it’s asking for

Juicy, creamy tropical. This is a really nice fruity summer scent. I like it a lot and prefer it to Tales from Zanzibar, the most popular tropical scent from the line.

This is not your typical summery tropical scent. Is it tropical - yes, is it summery - yes, but there is so much more going on. To me it smells chique and rich.

Banging mango scent with a base reminiscent of BR540

Juicy fruity mango with smoky oud accord in the base that comes through as very leathery in the dry down. This is nice but I found the mango disappeared very quickly and I was left with a leather scent which most strangely just didn't project at all. Meh

It is well blended so it is hard to distinguish between the notes, but mango is definitely the most forward note. It is good and I might considered using this a lot more

The opening of this is so amazing! A fresh, citrus and so realistic mango with a little boozy, amazing! But the drydown, on my skin, is horrendous. I just feel like a super creamy, sweet scent that keeps me reminding of a lipstick or makeup. I don't have any problem on makeup (or iris) scents, I love Dior Homme Intense for example but this one.... if the dry drown was like the opening, for me, this would be mental!

I don't understand some of the reviews here. What I would like to say is NOT TO BLIND BUY THIS. The mango accord is not so realistic and can be reminiscent of some cheapies/dupes out there in the market. After that, it becomes dark, dusty and heavily charged on the roasted sugar side because of some ethyl maltol or a similar molecule. I can even refer to it as something dirty. A hard pass for me.

Tropical version of BR540. It has the same medical/dental/band aid smell. Not for me.

This is really exotic... I’ve been testing it a few times now. The newest release of MOAPC is a tropical mango summer scent🥭incredible for your dream vacations. The mango here is ready to eat, super fresh and airy with a bit of lime and ambroxan in the opening. An actual paradise, right? But hold on, because there’s much more! It's loud and deep at the same time, it's not a "freshy" by any means, but actually a very deep fragrance with the sweetness of mouthwatering caramel, booziness from aged rum and a hint of a soft, buttery leather and very subtile oud adding so much richness to the scent. The result is a stunning fun, flirty, unique fruity fragrance divine to wear on holidays🌴But I’d say it’s also a creamy, warm and deep scent nice for the early autumn. Versatile, unisex and beast longevity and projection! What else? I’m not a blind buyer, but this...

Seriously, why does it seem like so many have to compare every new fragrance to BR540? This fragrance smells nothing like BR540, what it does have a similar scent profile to is Tales of Zanzibar, where you’re getting that MOPC DNA. This is a gorgeous mango fragrance, that ebbs and flows throughout, with a little dichotomy of leather, and a supporting base of animalic and Oud notes. I gave myself a generous wearing of this fragrance in the hot humid weather of the tropics, and this fragrance just pumps off the skin! It was also an immediate compliment getter for me when I was out shopping. I get a good 4-5 hours of longevity. If looking for a perfect vacay fragrance to the tropics, this one is it! Overall, a complete love for me!

My most terrible blind buy... On paper, I like virtually ALL the notes. However, after a quick mango opening, this turns into a laundry detergent scent. I detect zero leather, zero oud, zero caramel, certainly no booze... I just can't shake the laundry image. Is it bad? Not especially. Is it what I expected? Absolutely not! It's closer to a powdery, musky clean, makeupy, slightly effervescent kinda tropical scent... Performance is short lived and weak. All in all, it is my worst blind buy. In fact, it tought me to never do blind buys again. I sample first. There is no way around it. Notes often mean nothing.

BR540 is terrible on me and even if I can agree with the previous reviewer that this is the “tropical version of Baccarat” - it is still different enough to be beautiful on me. I dont detect the mango itself, more of a passion fruit/tropical cocktail vibe, with the Baccarat drydown. Leans feminine and definitely a summer scent. Too bad its almost september.

To me it gathers beautifully my beloved days in Malaysia - it has the tropical, the spicy and the oriental notes well balanced and representing all the gastronomic treasures they have, the exotic natural environment and the coexistent eastern cultures and religions.

I’ve found the newer 75ml batch of this to be a LOT more oud heavy than original batches. Mango is not overly prominent and what is there fades pretty quickly and you’re left with an oud leather combo

Love the opening it’s so tropical and so beautiful. However once it settles on my skin I smell a petrol/rubber smell. I don’t know what it is but it bothers me. Hoping that I will get used to it.

I thought I would like this more but it screams Escada to me - I do like an escada perfume but I have cheapie associations with it. Nothing wrong with a cheapie but only if it's actually cheap!

I honestly find this to be very disappointingly generic and sweet. I live in Abu Dhabi and would be happy to sell this to anyone within the UAE for a fair price (over 90% of volume remaining)

Sweet sugary mango with a light oud in the background. Must say that the oudy sweetness does remind me of Liwa. To me this is a tropical version of that sort of scent profile. Do like it.
