Mexx Black for Him

Discover this through my ex boyfriend and madly fell in love with it. I always keep a sample of it around, so that I can smell it when ever I want; it gives me the most amazing chills. It's like sex in a bottle. If it wasn't so masculine I would probably wear it on myself.

I love this particular one, it was a blind buy from work a few years ago and it was about £7. It reminds me of Drakkar Noir, doesn't smell like it but it does have that 1980s vibe or feel to it. It's an interesting scent..

Nice Parfum and nice price. In Germany it cost unter 20€ 30ml. Very Cheap and a great Fragrance.

This one surprised me by its sweetness. Apart from that, it's a well done composition, especially for a budget fragrance. It's probably marketed at young men, judging by the style, the scent and the price per unit. It seems that Mexx take care of their fragrant side-products (in contrast to some other non-luxury fashion brands). Nevertheless, if you're a young man and are preparing for a date, you should invest into something more sophisticated. The fragrance should in some way mirror or underline, or perhaps even contradict your personality. Wearing this one, you might as well come anonymously. ***

Shurely not a masterpiece, mediocre projection, low to medium longivity ( about 3-4 hours with 4-5 sprays) But I still wouldn't want to misst it in my collection! At first because this was one of my first fragrances at all and it triggers a lot of memories. Secondly it definitly an easy going nice scent fitting well in every occasion and it's quite cheap! Even now that I own a big frag collection I still go to it sometimes when I don't know what to wear.

My immediate impression was that the perfume is very weak, which is true but the scent is very nice. I would describe it as cigarette smoke/incense, that has a creamy texture, so the smoke isn't harsh. It has a bad boy vibe, but it also smells fun. I imagine some teen skater wearing this having fun with his friends. Could be a good signature for a teen guy. It's also a bit woody and ambery, but it's just a touch.

A cheap and very nice fragrance, I like the scent very much- kind of sweet and muscular at the same time. I like to wear it on casual days and don't mind if I take a bit more since it doesn't last too long on my skin (1-3 hours). I can recommend it, but not for every occasion, such as dates or going out.

Fragrance is Okay. Maybe good for a Teen but wouldnt wear it on a daily. Price is alright. I dont like it so much but its Not Bad.

I didn't like this perfume at all, because my nose loves a sweeter Perfume. The price point for this perfume is amazing though. It smells nice but it will die down almost instantly (within 45 Minutes) I would suggest saving up a bit more money and going for the more expensive perfumes ( or at least perfumes that have longevity that is longer than 45 Minutes, which is 85% of perfumes) It was fun testing though, good for its price point but definitely not for me. I could see my younger brother trying and enjoying this perfume.

It's a pleasurable, generic scent which has horrible projection and Longevity. A classic teenager fragrance, will make you smell nice for about an hour, gifted to me years ago, nowadays I would never recommend this because of availability of other great perfumes at better prices

This is a nice, simple, casual scent. I think this would be a safe gift or blind buy!

There are practical no reviews on internet about this relatively new fragrance (except some here & on a german site). I understood from what I've read that Mexx is a big trendy outlet/fashion house based in Canada with very good sales in Europe (mostly Sweeden, Denmark, Germany). Also, Mexx Black has won an award at Duftstars 2010 (german Fifi awards equivalent) for best lifestyle men fragrance...people choice. Considering all-that plus a very good price (15$ for 50ml) I said "what the heck", so I forgiven myself once again :D) and ordered blindly a fragrance I practicaly don't know at all, hoping it won't fail me. I'll come back soon with a proper review. Edit (17.03.11): a run of the mill fragrance, not too bad but definitely not good ("what you pay is what you get", right?), similar with sticky-sweet Dunhill Desire, which I don't like at all. I mexx-ed (sorry mess-ed) it up with this one...my final rank 6/10. ☣☣

Revisiting this fragrance(found the bottle again and there were some sprays left) i was in for a surprise. This smells a lot like the 2012 Dior Homme Sport Almost watery citrus/spice in the beginning, a hint of flower smoothing it in the heart and a green/woody base. A bit sweeter, less mature, more synthetic but the overall charcter is very similar. The problem: longevity and projection are almost non-existant. About 1 hour and it never projects more than about 10cm. To get the same performance as DHS you'd probably have to spray five times as much which would negate the price advantage. Likeable scent but super-poor performance. If you want something like a refreshing body-mist on a hot day at a cheap price this could be for you but nothing to really call a perfume.

Very weak scent. Longevity is about 15-20 min. Sillage/projection are zero. All I get is faint traces of ambery orange.

The first perfume I remember getting myself. I got it during my school years. It was relatively cheap and since I didn't have much pocket money and I didn't knew anything about perfume - I got this. It's been sitting on my shelf for years half full before I finally decided to throw it away and get something new. The only thing I remember about it is strong alcohol smell which would disappear in an hour or so.

This was my go-to signature scent before getting the fragrance bug. It had been a step forward from Denim Black, to be sure, although it's quite cheap as well. Now, I still get the same woody-fresh sweetness, but it fails to excite my nerves. It's just linear and generic and doesn't have many layers, performance is not great, and sometimes I get a dry cardboard smell with the woodiness. That being said, for the price, it's really a quite pleasant scent, and the cardboard note only appears when comparing it with more complex scents (it's more like something that isn't there than something that is). It's sweet, spicy, fresh and inoffensive. From my experience, there is no relationship between the complexity or price of a fragrance and its appeal to others around you. There is skin chemistry, your overall style and personality and so on. And this fragrance is, shall we say, perfectly workable, especially on budget.

Oldie but goldie. Not for frag. enthusiasts of course.... But recommended as a starting point. Maybe for your son? Maybe for someone as gift? Or maybe as backup bottle for your sports bag/car?

This is a cheapy. It has potential, smells very fresh from orange, sandalwood and water notes in the opening but it don ́t last long. The dry down...I don ́t know it disapears.

I bought a bottle because of the scent. I think It's amazing. BUT the longevity and sillage is very poor. It lasts on my skin only 1 hour.

Am I the only one who gets a "Midnight in Paris by vancleef & arpels" vibe from it? Or ist it just me?
