Black Datura

I agree with the user who said this fragrance is like a drug. Let me preface this by saying I hate bubblegum tuberose notes. Mancera’s velvet vanilla made me hate tuberose and I almost didn’t buy this fragrance because of everyone mentioning that the tuberose was prominent and that it did smell just a bit in the bubblegum direction but then they also all said how alluring and enchanting this was and with the hype around the moon flower I was like why not the moonstone is one of my birthstones so hopefully the moon flower will be a good fit for me. Man am I glad I took the leap because this was love at first sniff. It lasts on skin and wafts under the nose like a lingering temptress. It truly is like a drug and the odd part is that the tuberose is the most prominent note and it just kisses the sweetness of bubblegum without being too much. I think the saying factor is that the ylang brings the sweetness instead of it truly being a powdery bubblegum sweet that you usually get in heavily tuberose scents. This one is just enough in all the right areas like it’s just sweet enough. Just strong enough. Lingers just right to where it’s addicting instead of cloying to catch those narcotically delicious wafts of yourself. Like if this was any stronger/sweeter it would be cloying smelling myself because this scent does linger on you and you won’t go anosmic to it. As someone who usually stops smelling myself own fragrances while others can still smell and compliment me it’s quite a miracle for me to say like yea I smell this without sticking my nose right into my shirt or right up to my wrist. So far only few fragrances stick around for me to smell all day like that and those are Oud Bouquet, Oud satin mood, stricnina, and Ani.. well and now Black Datura but the surprising thing is.. black datura is the most airy.. I mean the others are overtly beast mode fragrances where you have to spray with caution but this one I feel like I can overspray a bit and be fine because it just adds to the alluring cloud of deliciousness around me. I’ve never had a fragrance this dark and tempting without being dense because this fragrance definitely isn’t thick/dense at all it’s airy but it pulls you in like a siren whispering promises to sailors. Personally I love the price because for 3.4oz it’s a great price for a phenomenal fragrance that lasts and teases the senses all day and this isn’t even an extrait. Actually more oils might make this dense and ruin some of the magic so it’s perfect as is. I usually prefer extraits but this performs better than a good chunk of extrait parfums that I own so trust when I say this is worth every penny. It’s actually worth much more in my opinion. The chic matte black bottle with gold plating is cute I think sometimes minimalistic is best and to me it looks great. I don’t think I have a single complaint here which is shocking because I’ve hated tuberose for years but just for this one singular fragrance I think this could be my signature scent. Granted I won’t ever commit to just one fragrance but it does feel like the most special easy reach fragrance that just speaks to me and this is one of few fragrances that I would repurchase over and over again. As much as I love my collection there’s very few bottles I’d actually run to buy a backup of because I can’t live without it and this is definitely on that list.. I’ve only had this fragrance for about a week and that’s how in love I am. So at the very least everyone needs a sample of this regardless of if you hate tuberose or not because I promise this one is special it’s seriously friggin special and addicting.

Rich, luxurious, addictive, deep, ambery, tuberose, ylang ylang and a good amount of spice in the opening. Black Datura is a great cold seasons floral. I am a huge tuberose and ylang ylang lover and warm, balsamic, resinous, ambery scent are some of my other favourites. So this is right up to my heart.. I am not familiar with datura flower but apparently is a night blooming white flower with an intoxicating, sweet, honeysuckle type of scent, which I think it is captured very well in this juice. It’s complex and develops into something bigger than most of others Miller Harris’s scents. This is a big bouquet of flowers, white and yellow, with fruity and spicy nuances and warmth from amber, myrrh, incense with a musky base. My opinion is that Black Datura is very versatile and it will work all year long because of its multiple layers: floral, fruity, spicy, ambery, resinous, musky.. Opening is very strong but settles into a powdery, slightly bittersweet floral. Long lasting but not very loud on sillage, so it won’t suffocate anybody if worn when it’s scorching hot outside. Totally worth adding to my collection. It’s a different, unique type of tuberose scent! Don’t think I’ve any white floral fitting so well for fall and winter.

Black datura was love at first sniff. Smells like a romantic date in a bottle. Bouquet of tuberose and lilies are in every room of a stately manor. The scent of them mingling with the scent of fresh strawberries and champagne that will be used for the final seduction. The smell of desire. Resinous rich warm spicy woody and sexy black datura is the perfume of the femme fatal or the man on a mission if you know what I mean. This white floral is rare because it is truly unisex. Would smell great on either gender. The vetiver and white cedar in the base (not listed above but are very noticeable) keep this in unisex territory. This is the best thing I have smelled from miller Harris in quite a while. I have been disappointed in some of the new fragrances from this house but black datura has restored my faith. If u love drop dead sexy unisex white florals they don't get better than this. Full bottle worthy. Rich luxurious. Decadence in a bottle. Edit: 11/2/23. This would be a lovely Christmas white floral or a beautiful one for Easter. Resinous and woody white lilies. The white lilies of the Madonna Holy yet seductive.

Fruiti floral... I don't know why that i got attached to this blend right away! i've been told once by a fellow colleague who was focusing on the fragrances i wear for few years that i lean now (that was 3 years ago) towards floral and roses blends! and when i reviewed now that love blends that i adore the most (Flux de Fleur, & Indolis by Areej Le Doré, Moonbloom by Hiram, Tinta Roja & Amalia Fueguia, Innuendo Roja) i realized why i liked "Black Datura"! it is a juicy floral with that ylang plummy juiced out blend with bit of hazy resin, tuberose, jasmin sambac, & wet "beloved" ambergris. Black datura is for those who seeks dark juicy floral blends. Beautiful.

What a mesmerising scent....I very randomly bought a decant of this, with little to no expectations. The moment I sprayed it on I felt a barrage of emotions hahah it’s so weird yet beautiful, sexy and dark...almost witchy and so I instantly bought a full bottle and haven’t stopped using it since. Datura is a poisonous plant, and this perfume does a fantastic job of smelling poisonous. The tuberose is sweet and the ylang ylang brings a slightly custardy feel to the resinous ambery base. Like a bewitched purple tincture calling you to drink it, and immediately succumb to your death. This was my last purchase of 2024 and I absolutely love love love it.

Intoxicating and gorgeously narcotic. Absolutely drug-like and totally agree with the other two fragrance reviewers just beneath mine. IMO, this one is gorgeously rich, amber-y lily rather than tuberose/jasmine. So incredibly sexy. Not sweet at all, very ambery, slightly animalic and lightly smoky, ever-so-slightly rubbery (almost like how rubbery Rosendo Mateu No.5 is to me). Gorgeous. 10/10. Perfect on a man or a woman - and would LOVE to smell this on a man, despite how it seems to be leaning feminine with its notes.

I've tried a number of fragrances from the MH range and this must be one of their best - a deep, sultry incense infused floral. There is a similarity to Black Orchid in the sense that both are dark, mysterious and have a slightly animalic feel to them, but this is a more refined, smooth smell (I should say - I love both!). Very good projection and staying power - the sort of perfume that makes you want to wear dark lipstick and vamp around a cocktail bar mysteriously... :D

This perfume is like a drug. I YEARN FOR IT. I sprayed a sample of this on before dinner, and it was like a magnet on my arm. I just kept and kept smelling it. I couldn't find myself even caring for my meal. An alluring, seductive, and genuinely entrancing scent. You better believe I will be buying a full bottle of this.

Fortunately, the dry down redeems it. It's a nocturnal ritual of white flowers, cigarettes and black ink, Ouija fragrance. A witchy poisonous, ashy and cold Tuberose, camphoraceous, bordering on bubblegum punctuated with Salt and Pink Pepper. It's salty and mineral, like the scent of a damp beach, its silvery wet sand ! I associate it with Francesca Bianchi and her magnetic and animalic "Sex and the Sea". A smoky, spectral and narcotic incense. The scent of a mermaid's skin. It creates unease. Unlike Tom Ford's sunny, vanilla and whipped-cream tuberose "Orchid Soleil" (they are extremely similar), "Black Datura" is frankly gothic, austere, hostile and lunar. An intense, mysterious and almost suffocating fragrance due to its dominant Ambergris. I can't stand it during the first 15 minutes before it shifts towards an ambery Ylang accord, like a night of comets... I find absolutely NOTHING sweet about it.

I remember my shock when I first sprayed this. I read pepper as one of the notes but didn’t think it would be very obvious. Thought it would just be spicy but this is sweet with very obvious black pepper. Imagine black berries, dark very dark black berries but without the berry note just the sweetness of a dark berry fruit and maybe the sweetness of raisins and a very obvious literal smell of black pepper. It’s very Ibtw resting and surprisingly I don’t hate it. I think because it’s not something people are used to smelling it’s kinda risky but also very weirdly sexy. I felt like I was marinated with this scent. Doesn’t last crazy long but definitely lasts and is just very interesting and unique.

It's a floral perfume that combines narcotic and spiky feelings. White musky florals blend with pink powder and spices so that tender and light smell of flowers could become narcotic, deep, slightly darker, and overall heavier. It could be sweet if it wouldn't be bitter[sweet]. It's an interesting fragrance that won't go as a blind buy at all. Longevity tends to vary depending on the skin because the last remaining notes feel more like aura—meaning it's unclear where you've sprayed it, it's subtly everywhere—so I can imagine how some skin types (like mine lmao) can destroy it fast or even immediately. The liquid is okay for light-coloured clothes.

WOW! This smells dark, seductive, intoxicating, floral, sweet, deep. I sprayed it on my skin because on paper it was already lovely but you know the feeling when you smell something and it simply confuses you.. but the confusion leads to curiosity. Now this is what Black Dature gives me. Therefore I would say this is a great date and night time fragrance, a one of the kind, super seductive, super dark, but not heavy, however, please don't blindbuy this :D I can still smell it on me after taking a shower and washing my hands 3 times. I will probably get a FB at one point.

This is a heady explosion of white flowers. It smells natural, indolic and bubblegummy in equal measure.There is an undercurrent of that rubber doll's head powdery almond scent. This is powerful, feminine and mature in a really good way. Errs more on the side of old-fashioned classic perfumery than contemporary but sometimes that is no bad thing. I really like this. Narcotic and enchanting, with a dark undertone that sets it pleasingly apart from other white floral releases.

This is an intoxicating, dark but extremely sweet amber/tuberouse combo. The resinous, smokey opening gives way almost immediately to a bubblegummy tuberous, in me this is very, very sweet. It reminds me of one of the versions of L'Interdit de Givenchy. Too sweet for me, but very good with decent projection and staying power.

Nice spicy tuberose mixed with tropical ylang! Very radiant! It smells a bit medicinal: strong ambergris note that gives a touch of saltiness. It’a a bit similar to some other spicy tuberoses but still a very good scent.

It is mildly infuriating that they named the perfume 'Black Datura' then put flowers on the box, yet the flowers on the box are not daturas. Smells good though.

A dark waxy red berry + white floral + ylang ylang leathery scent, intoxicating, need more time to get on with, but I like it.

I feel like I have a lot to say about this perfume. First of all, for months, I was dying to get a decant, I was just convinced that I would fall in love with it immediately and make it my new signature fragrance. I loved the concept and the notes - online. I thought it would smell like creamy white florals with a little bit of that pink pepper spiciness and somehow a dark, yet soft mood, nice and complex and interesting. So ... when I finally got it, I was crossing my fingers, hoping to love it, and when I smelled it for the first time ... oh my gosh. So bad!! Disgusting. One of the worst fragrances, if not the worst fragrance, I have ever smelled - it smells like black licorice or like super harsh, dark mint gum, and that smell just does not earn a place in my heart, no, there is no love there. So, yes, I was disgusted. But, having spent money on the decant (five dollars for a few freakin' drops) I gave it a try anyway. And, later, I got to appreciate its unique weirdness and bold profile. But, I still don't love it. It doesn't make me feel confident, it makes me feel like a hazard, like I'm inducing a nauseous migraine for everyone around me, including myself. I just don't like it, sadly!

Got myself a free sample thanks to Jus De Rose. Unfortunately, this is not my cup of tea... The top notes are very aggressive and in your face, then it dries down and it becomes a little bit more soft but still too animalic for my personal taste. Very unique though so I would suggest trying it on skin first before buying a full bottle.

got a sample after jus de rose raved about it...unfortunately this scent is not for me, it gave me a headache...i dont smell any tuberose..i can only smell the sweet spiced resinous scent..i thought it was just me, as I was confused by the glowing reviews on youtube...but no, my husband and daughter hated it too.

This smells like fresh warm corn tortillas. It's a pleasant smell, but I can't imagine actually wanting to smell like this.

I wanted to love this so badly (mainly because the concept, the notes, the bottle all looked like my exact style), I bought a sample of this after hearing a few fragrance reviewers rave about it. I get a strong association of a corn tortilla to it, and I can’t un-smell it. The performance is amazing though, I sprayed it on the back of my hand and it didn’t come off after washing my hands several times throughout the day. I couldn’t smell any tuberose either and I’m not too sure where the corn tortilla-ish accord comes from.. huh. But yeah, it’s a pass :( aw.. I’m a bit sad about it. But a new find and a new love is Scherzo!! Crazy.. I don’t even love roses or ouds but love tuberoses and lilies. Speechless.

I wanted to like this but I just don’t think me and this scent can get along. It reminds me of Rouge Malachite - A scent I do like, but also find difficult to wear. Black Datura is what I imagine Mortica Addams smells like. Like sickly sweet white florals and lilys. I can’t get past it the funeral parlor/flower shop vibe so it’s a no for me but I’ll keep the sample and try again in cooler weather. It’s an intriguing fragrance though, that’s for sure.

The flowers and peppers are fighting each other in this perfume. It’s not smooth o easy to smell.

Why is it always the scrubbers that project like crazy! If you like this then that aspect is great but for me the ylang-ylang is just too strong its reminding me of the espresso perfume from floral street. Its got a dark side so the name is definately fitting... its not for me.. I don't know how or why but I envision this is what the back of an old very used Hearse smells like..

Imagine sb receiving a single tuberose flower. Soon they set it on fire and then - to further humiliate the person who was naiive enough to have given them such a petty gift - extuinguish it in an ashtray filled with cigarete butts. Black Datura is an unforgiving wall of a fragrance. The tuberose gets overcast quickly with an ashy mix of woody ambers that's dense and brooding, making it impossible to make out anything that might possibly be hiding behind its pitch-black veil. And that's about it, unfortunately. All I can smell is the tuberose (briefly!) and then it's all smoke, smoke and some more smoke. This ashy background which rapidly overtakes everything and devours all light is similar to the one employed in Amouage's Myths Man, which was obviously a far superior composition, because, well, it was a composition. In BD the heart and the base (which are largely the same thing) lack any nuance that might keep them interesting. Taking into account the price and the fact that it's a niche offering by a reputable brand whose offerings I tend to like - a big disappointment. This being said, if you're a guy or a gal enjoying such smoky beasts, do give it a try. It's 100% unisex. Just don't expect tuberose, lily, ylang ylang. Black Datura is a couldron filled with hot tar of sweet and smoky aromachemicals in which the said flowers are drowned within a matter of seconds. Oh, and it's no Orchid Soleil, which was joyful, fun and filled with sunshine. This is Orchid Éclipse at best, which - again - might happen to be your thing.

When this was described as Orchid Éclipse, ajagrze was correct. I've never smelled Orchid Soleil, though. It starts with a big bloom of buttery, spicy florals. As the top notes fade, we get a bigger ylang ylang aroma. It becomes much creamier. Then, incense. It smells like a floral incense. Throughout the composition, I smell the same datura note in Serge Lutens Datura Noir. Both fantastical, of course, and completely different bodies. But the datura is there. The profile reminded me heavily of Tom Ford's Shanghai Lily, so I compared them side by side. Shanghai Lily: Opens sweet, citrusy, lily. Develops into a spicy, cool lily. Settles into an ambered lily. Black Datura: Opens creamy, rounded, dark buttery floral. Developed into a mellow datura. More sunscreen-like, very smoky floral. Black Datura could definitely be in the private Tom Ford collection, the sister of Shanghai Lily. Shanghai Lily built her fortune on running the silk road, Black Datura ventured away into a secluded Mediterranean island.

Forget reading the notes - this is a trip! I shouldn’t like it, but I do. I can’t bear to sniff it again, yet now I crave it. I won’t buy it, but I did. Pleathery burnt-rubber & fireside scorched resins encased in a fluffy, thick, warm fog. A dusting of heady, pollen-heavy Easter lilies, salted fudge & powdery musk. This perfume feels thick & opulent but quirky enough to retain a unique voice. I can see this being very polarising - a real conversation-starter. There is an animalic feel to this scent without being in any way feral. Black Datura is elemental, coarse & vital. It is sultry. A little unsettling, yet as familiar & enticing as silage. It projects well on warm skin & has good staying power. It doesn’t develop much - it comes in like a beast & leaves like the powder-puff tail of a pussy cat.

It starts with Nuit de Tubereuse LAP - peppery and creamy at the same time and morphs into Elie Saab's tuberose - Essence No 9 - with its rubbery feeling to it. Just a clue for people buying it blindly. Update: I made side by side test with Nuit de Tubereuse and found out that the beginnings are quite similar because of the pepperiness and tuberose but they take different paths. L'Artisan's tuberose goes on as very voluptuous and creamy fragrance with characteristic for the brand mild soapiness which gives vintage and nostalgic feel to it. Miller Harris tuberose has the candy sweetness which is inevitable these days and remains in the spicy territory.

Narcotic and potent, this is a voluptuous perfume with a hint of green underpinned by a warm and enveloping resinous musk. It evokes the luminous datura flower perfectly blending the heady white floral of tuberose with hints of vanilla and almond giving an almost powdery cream base note. It doesn’t have the sharpness I’ve encountered in other newer tuberose heavy scents. It’s intense and enveloping, perfectly suited to winter or evening wear. I find it fleshy as opposed to rubbery and it’s sweet but not as bubblegum sweet as ylang and tuberose can come across.

Its very similar to tom ford orchid soleil , but darker and more unisex. I bought this for my husband as a Christmas present and blind bought , but when he first sprayed it just reminded me of TF OS, as he let it to settle , its not an exact resemblance of TF but they share a lot of similarities, just more wearable for a man. Its totally depends on how you would accept it either for a man or woman . As i own the TF os already so i let my husband to discover it. But so far he seems to be happy about it. Also The bottle is bold and classy.

definitely not like Orchid soleil whihc is my all time fave perfume - hence why i tried it. Its more of a woody resinous, mildly spicy turberose, whereas OS is a nutty, slightly incensy tuberose

Ugh, why does this go so sour on me? It's got all the notes I love but whoa, right after the opening and the drydown, it smells like a dirty ashtray and sour.
