Anticonformiste

Wow I get the first review on this masterpiece :D How this fragrance feels: Crazy to think that this is called Anticonformiste. This is a blue fragrance with a twist. Anyone who knows Alberto Morillas' work knows that he makes things that are incredibly wearable and pleasant (ADG/CK1/Daisy/Dylan Blue/Just look at his fragrantica credits). Safe to say that this is one of the most wearable, versatile, complimented, and well blended bottles in my collection. Is it genre defying and a big "Anti" blue fragrance? Not really. But it is definitely head and shoulders above something like Bleu de Chanel or Sauvage or even YSL Y. So if you're looking at things from the perspective of someone who has never stepped out of the blue fragrance family, then this would rock your world about as much as Aventus. You would buy this and wear nothing else. I really think it is that good. Summary: weird name, great bottle, incredible scent. This is expensive, but you get what you pay for: pure class. There will also be very few people wearing this out there, so you will be unique even though you're wearing a versatile blue fragrance. The Scent: There is lots of tonka, calone, and a fair amount of like ambroxan or something that feels woody/aquatic. The mint feels especially sweet and well placed in the structure if that makes sense. The real star of the show is the violet leaf though. WOW. The blending of all the notes with the violet on top really puts a smile on your face. A niche fragrance with designer sensibilities. Uhhhh, what else can I say? Blind buy worthy for sure. I was a bit disappointed by this. Mint, violet and gardenia are some of my favourite notes so I was hoping for an interesting green/floral scent. Instead it’s a fairly generic masculine “blue” scent, smells like a lot of bottles you could get cheaply at the chemist. It’s not bad by any means, it’s just not niche quality.

Same DNA as Valentino Uomo Born in Roma. Not bad, but not great. Feels rather synthetic.

Violet leaf, calone & the mineral notes really remind of the same style that perhaps GIT or even Carven Pour Homme has. I dont really like those two either so this wasn't a hit for me. If you like those fragrances and want to smell the Sichuan peppers and gardenia herbal twist to it be my guest. For a freshie/green pepper I think TF Noir Anthracite is more my style This is a big pass for me but perhaps its a big win for you.

It’s a nice fresh perfume. Somehow different from other fresh perfumes on the market but also not very outstanding. Actually I’d prefer a shower gel or a soap with this aroma than a perfume. It’s way overpriced for what it offers.

Wow, I get the second review. This smells like you walked into the fragrance section of a mall with bad ventilation and had second guesses about entering. Or like you sprayed a few perfumes too many on your wrist and they have together lost all their character except for some nondescript shower gel-like calone and ambroxan pairing. I can with 100% certainty say an Arab clone house probably has this as a draft somewhere, or could make one that's nearly identical. The idea of a "high quality" blend of aromachemicals seems kind of ironic when you're talking about stuff used in virtually every designer release out there, and I believe people are literally making excuses for this and imagning artistry where there is none, because of the brand. The other ironic part, besides the name, is that I really don't think you'll smell different than what people already associate with someone who wears too much perfume. It performs, and it will announce that you are wearing a perfume that came out years ago, but has no references to anything better or nostalgic. Nuance will be completely lost from 5 feet away. Even paying for the sample felt like a waste of money so I had to say something and provide balance to what was here. I further think master perfumers don't always make the right choices, and although their skill in blending and other technical areas is usually high, their decisions as creative directors are hit or miss, and our noses shouldn't operate in a vacuum of knowledge about other perfumes when reviewing something like this. The one thing we may have over master perfumers is our collective experience smelling BAD perfumes, or terribly cheap ones, and it's unfortunate when that perspective is lost on an otherwise talented person. It's like obscenely rich people not understanding how much a banana should cost. Taste is subjective sure, but let's not lie to ourselves that ironic conformity in the perfume world is art worth $300 because it's from the person who made Acqua di Gio.

I got sent this sample by mistake (still waiting on the one I actually ordered). This is horrid. Full stop.

I remember watching Die Hard, the original action blockbuster, for the first time and not being blown away by it, only because I had seen so many films that had been inspired by it first. Anticonformiste is a lot like that; a fragrance by the creator of the "minimal fresh-aquatic clean scent" that you've already smelled a 100 times before. Anticonformiste has this vague dated quality to it; like if Aqua di Gio was made in the 80's instead of the 90s. It's as if it’s supposed to precede the era that Morillas himself created. It also has that fluid muskiness that you really only get with Olivier Bisch fragrances that makes me wonder whether Morillas was trying to replicate that here. Ultimately, it’s unclear to me whether this is a fragrance worth buying. You might as well just buy Aqua Di Gio, Bois Imperial or Le Sel D'Issey and call it a day.

A beautiful use and application of violet leaf and calone. This really needs time to macerate because the calone may be to dominant initially. The atomiser and projection are quality. Would be even better when layered with a nice citrus forward scent.

i want to like this but i don't. smells like every aquatic and floral fragrance mixed together but i smell an overripe mint /watermelon note? smells like a watermelon margarita that sat out overnight at a crazy party with a little p in it
