Chypre Charnel

***Update 4/12/26-2 months in*** Again, wWOWw! So as with 99.999% of fragrances Chypre Charnel has definately gotten EVEN BETTER than when Id first smelled.it 2 months ago. The Peach Note seems more prominent but still remains "Grown Up" and not as playful as one might think. The OakMoss note is also more noticable giving it the "Chypre Aspect" and man does this smell Classy AF! That Beautiful, fresh, clean Peach and White florals along with the OakMoss, Patchouli and Vetiver? Outstanding. IMO Chypre Charnel may very well be THEE MOST Underrated, more affordable Fruity Chypres Ive EVER smelled. Also the performance has improved quite a bit lasting a good 7 to 8 hours on skin and easily till the following day on clothes. Score has gone up from an 8 to a (very rare from me) 10 outta 10! A modern Fruity Chypre with a Classic edge and imo worth WAAAAY MORE than the $60+ pricetag it goes for. Again, a criminally underrated true "Hidden Jem"!! Unisex leaning Feminine.. CHEERS! ------------------------------------------------------ ***Initial Thoughts**, Wow! Chypre Charnel smells really fantastic! Starts off smelling "Vintage" but as it dries down that Peach note starts appearing and its such a fresh aromatic peach, along with the white florals.. MAN! Smells great imo! The Patchouli, Vetiver, Musks and woods help Chypre Charnel smell more "Unisex" although with a feminine lean, but as a man I am 100% comfy wearing this amazing scent! Id say that the longevity is slightly above average, say 6 to 7 solid hours on skin and ofcourse much longer on clothes. Projection more moderate, but its sorta hard to rate these things until I test it out more, plus with Maturation and all. Someome had mentioned how Chypre Charnel is like a "Classic meets Modern Chypre" and I couldn't have said it better myself. Also, although this is a very fruity Chypre, its definately for "Grown-ups" and couldn't emagine someone under the age of say, 20 years old rockin' this beauty! Chypre Charnel is an 8 outta 10 fragrance minus points for performance or lack thereof. Still an amazing scent from the AWESOME house of Molinard! LOVE!

I am absolutely in love with this fragrance, and it is now my signature scent. Not only do I love it fresh out of the bottle, but my natural chemistry and this perfume create magic together. I'm so happy to have found this. I'm going to step away from the standard talk about notes. Everyone can see those above. I'm going to talk about the feelings. I helped my brother build a log home with trees and stones he harvested on his own piece of forested land. We'd strip the logs in the heat of summer. We'd carry the heavy stones. There would be coffee and his wife would bring out fruit pies to stave off the great appetites we'd work up. This perfume speaks to me of all of that. The woody resins, the subtle mineral tangs, the sweet fruit and ambery feelings of coffee and cocoa. The smell of wildflowers all around us. Somehow it takes me right there, to one of the best times of my life. The only down side for this perfume is that it is now repackaged in a hideous purple and bronze bottle.

Oh my this is such a beauty! I craved it for the notes, but was slightly worried it might be an 'old' perfume. I was so wrong to worry. This is very classy, elegant, 'rich' and also mature, but not old. Very sexy and intriguing. For me this is a very successful, elegant and confident scent, for a strong and confident woman. My new signature for sure. It is surely earthy, woody and musky, with some powder and sweetness. It is so thick, but somehow light. Enravels you in a lovely cloud of scent, without being cloying, sickly or too intense. Soft, warm, tender,yet strong, sophisticated and sexy. Very different from all out there, unique and beautiful. A Modern Classic. I can see why some people call it posh :) The bottle is also very attractive and love the little pump, that locks for safety. Charming and practical. Brilliant new addition, love at first whiff!

Chypre Charnel By Molinard: To Me anyway this Perfume is deffo a lighter version of Lancome's Magie Noire!! As on first spray on my skin it opens nearly the very sameway but then lightens up considerably which really isn't a bad thing as I also happen to love Magie Noire by Lancome & actually wear/use it!! This is deffo a light fruity Chypre that actually get's nicer the longer it's on your skin!! My All Time Favourite Molinard Fragrance is still Habinita,L'Espirit Habinita & La Cologne Habinita followed by this!! Without a doubt I Absolutely love any Fragrance that seem's to be Chypre Family based!! If you haven't yet tried Chypre Charnel in my opinion you don't know what your missing out on!! & Yes like some other reviewer said Molinard seem hard to track down in any Perfume Shop's in Paris/France unless you visit the large Molinard Boutique itself!! This could be them following now in Guerlain' s footsteps!! This deffo is a very beautiful soft,creamy well put together Perfume that is deffo worthy of it's Molinard heritage!!

I've generally stayed away from fragrances with oakmoss as the prominent note. Today, I come across Chypre Charnel and voila, I'm in LOVE. Another lesson well learned, always experiment !!! It is a sexy, sensual floral-fruity Chypre backed up with musk. Welcome to my wardrobe, you definitely will be appreciated without any seasonal restrictions.

The most pestilential perfume I'v ever smelled. I left this on my balcony some months ago, to forget this forever. Yesterday I went to clean up and I smell something nasty, stinking, rank... A dead bird? No, Some of this orribile smell spill out from the bottle, the box where was this calamity became impregnated. I used bleach to remove it and it's still there.

Unfortunately this is a ... paltry attempt at a more modernized chypre. For awhile I thought that I liked it, the peach/fruit notes are very strong but also pleasantly bitter. The rose and jasmine stand out initially, also having a staid/starchy quality that I like...then transitioning to a white floral accord with some vetiver and dry woods. I enjoy the dryness and bitterness of it all, nothing is really sweet, but not much stands out, either. The killer for me is that eventually all I can smell is harsh woody aromachemicals ala Ambroxan. Be assured there is no oakmoss in here as there is none listed on the ingredients and frankly I can't smell even a suggestion of oakmoss. Like Mapache below me said there is a nice structure to this but for me it falls apart at the end. If it has a true chypre base I think I would enjoy this perfume as there are parts that I like but ultimately I dislike the drydown, and if I want a bitter/fruity chypre that is true blue I'll just wear Mitsouko.

Definitely "a chypre for people that don't like Chypres," @Aleauv was correct (they had commented that ITT, below). It is not fair to call it chypre bc it lacks that grounding zesty bracing quality that is quitessential to that genre of scents. [ ninja edit: it's clearly a modern chypre that uses a sweet-fruit-juice accord instead of sharp citrus... it will grow on me, but that ambroxan is really annoying. Fruit juice scents are sweet enough, i feel.] It is however an interesting scent, on it's own. There is a Baking Gourmand's Kitchen quality to it. It is faintly juicy and sweet like a meyer lemon syrup and peach jam and has a very comforting dusting of cocoa and vanilla. It's like a kid's dream kitchen, promise of tasty treats and no danger of being made the main course. A cosy day with extended family is where i see myself wearing this. Very calm but celebratory and evokes desire for closeness.

My, oh my! This is exhilarating! Very chic, with a juicy, earthy personality. Projection and sillage very good - dry down to die for!!! Upon opening, a delicate, enticing oak moss-patch combo comes forward, the citrus notes an incredibly mastered whisper. Rose has a swirl among them, suave as a fairy can be, then bumps into peach and it all goes moreish. So divine!!! It is enchanting a vibe, reminiscing somewhat of an 80s number, all the while being very far from it. It's a wink to the charm of chypre, beguiling you with uplifting, caressing notes. Absolute love from me, this is a masterpiece with a balance rarely found in other perfumes. 10/10, worth a blind buy if you like the family to which it belongs. This house never ceases to surprise me!!

The first impression was the striking resemblance with Coco, which is just in the very beginning but then moves away quickly in the direction of Magie Noire or Mitsouko. Classic light chypre, and very chic. It has a fresh, natural aroma with prominent oakmoss. Maybe a tad sour in the first hour of development, what could only be a delusion, having in mind the fact I already wore sweet leathery perfume at a moment of testing. The dry down has an intimate aspect, sensual, and a bit warm. Charming ...sparkling...soft is what describes it the best. Blooms at night!

I got a sample after reading all these positive reviews , but to me the fruity notes are tad over ripe and sour, it shares the backbone of classic chypres but lacks on florals , the rose is well blended with oakmoss and patchouli to give the classic vibe , iris is powdery and then it becomes sweeter and with some resins. I prefer my chypres greener and more earthy, maybe that's why I have troubles with this perfume, I do think this is a good perfume , It is a chypre for people who don't like chypres.

Barely a chypre, IMO, to my nose......??? Yes..."juicy" is a good word for this.... Wood/powder/musk with peach/citrus topped with ambroxan. I do not get any similarity to Magie Noire....or Mitsouko !!! But... do I like this fragrance "for what it is"...??? YES ! I do like this!!! Nothing overly remarkable....but well made,good scent structure. Quality scent. The drydown is where this one shines..IMO. It somehow "reminds" me (not a clone of) Cartier Panther current version type scent...????

think "modern" in an eau de mervailles, 24 faubourg, allure sensuelle kind of way. but softer, more airey. there's a nice aquatic rose in there along the journey, like the one in aromatics in white. ending with the scent of warm sun kissed peachy skin. yes posh, golden, creamy, musky skin. beautiful still. and the bottle matches it perfectly.

A Posh Perfume Peach-Patch, lemon-Ambrox, Iris-vanillic. Smell like modern chic make-up. This perfume reminds me of: Guet-Apens, Aromatics in White, White Patchouli, Mira-Bai

Woody and very sophisticated. Although I am someone who does not care which time of the day to wear what, but to me this is more a perfume for evening.

Very Nice chypre perfume. Bought it blindly. Unfortunately, it does not fit me. I am offering it for sale. Preferably in EU :)

Slightly modern, slightly soapy, and slightly boring.
