Mesmerising Oudh Accord & Gold

I bought one for my father & I thought about it, decided to buy one more for myself. The body wash hasn't arrived yet, but i'm excited about the layering. The initial spray is honey, tobacco, myrrh, & oud in the background. The middle stage is oud and vetiver, the dry down is more tobacco and oud. It's intriguing and cozy. I find it unisex, especially the middle and dry down. It is cozy cuddling scent and a perfect bed fragrance but I could also see myself wearing this with a nice cashmere sweater in the office *Update: It has become my most used fragrance, aromatherapy on pajamas, scent for the hallway, spritz on the curtains. I'm almost out of a full size bottle I bought right after the original review. I love the large bottles of this fragrance. It is so versatile for me, I use it all the time. An exact match to their oudh soap. Much more oud forward than say, Versace Oud Noir or Oud Wood, where its used in a supporting role. Main components are a mild sweetness, a soft, slight powderiness, and a cinnamon/nutmeg warm spice with a low-key tobacco wood background. Oud is the star though. Yes, it’s western-style synthetic, but nice and medium-strong regardless, with all other notes supporting it. I like the lack of rose in this, it makes it my go-to for straight up oud (other than an arabic attar). Its great by itself, but its best feature might be that its uncomplicated warm, safe, mild sweetness would layer nicely with a tobacco or vanilla scent such as Burberry London, Avant Garde, La Nuit or Eau Des Baux - even a Habit Rouge, transforming them into deeper "oudy" hybrids.

Well well, how very nice this. I was a bit skeptical as I got mine from eBay and there are pages of Molton Brown MOAG which gave me cause for concern, but there was an offer and I got a 50ml EDT bottle with the round ball cap for £27 and I think is a gorgeous smell. You start off with a little bit of skanky fizzy oud, synthetic but definitely oudy, and a desert spice like Rice Pudding, then after a few minutes it develops into a damp tobacco and resinous incense. It doesn't last a long time, a few hours at most, but for the price, the smell, and the quality, it is a good addition to a collection. I will be inclined to pick up a 100ml EDP when this runs out and when Summer ends.

Never owned an Oud before? Well this is the perfect introduction into an otherwise expensive fragrance note that can often be very strong and sharp. Molton Brown however has come up with a very wearable Oud with Amber and Honey that takes the worst sting out of the Oud. Making it a good scent for both day and date. It is synthetic, but that is fine for the price. I've not tried their edP concentration, but I get good longevity of about 5 hours from their edT. Conclusion; Molton Brown has created a wonderfully warm and strong experience here that punches well beyond its weight class.

Delightful western oud. No skank - just smooth oud. I detect a powdery accord when I sniff real hard :) the opening reminds me of byredo accord oud - with it's semi spicy/hint of sweetness. As that dies, I'm remind more of Versace oud noir - creamy, subtle and delicate. I can't remember the notes - but at times I get an almost citrusy tinge in the background. At any rate, very impressive and very wearable. I think this is slightly more masculine, but I do believe that it would be appealing and wearable for women. Price vs quality: top notch. 7/10

A really nice perfume from Molton Brown - and the only one that I own. It was a present from my man and I really loved it. It reminds me a bit of TF Oud Wood Intense, being less intense and more wearable. I don't find it extremely synthetic as others have mentioned, smells classy and expensive to me. Honeyed oud, with a sweet tobacco. Classy, elegant and luxurious. A steal for the price (particularly on ebay)and although the longevity is what you would expect from an EDT, it's my go to bed-time chill and snooze scent at the moment, and I'm enjoying it very much indeed.

This fragrance was in the women section from where i bought it, so i was afraid it would be to feminin, but no this is a unisex fragrance and a very good one at that too, very good blended as usual from molton brown i like it a lot.

Surprised amber isn't listed as a note because it's in here. This is one of the first ouds I bought years ago and still one of my favorite and most wearable. A soft, gentle, westernized oud that is creamy, resinous and lovely.

so happy I discovered this today, tried a sample and a full bottle will be joining my collection, really nice well balanced scent, smells of cinnamon, tobacco, vanilla, just heaven .

This fragrance is superb, an oud out of the very top draw and surprising coming from Molton Brown a brand name with about as much appeal as a violent gastric complaint! Joking aside, I actually swear by the shower gels from MB and at the moment they have some really nice ones like Tobacco absolute. Oudh accord & Gold is brilliant, it starts out like a very luxurious and sweet, creamy oud very much in the tradition of middle eastern perfumery, with some nice spicing. The mid of this fragrance when settled is less sweet and much dryer and more tobacco dominated. The smokey touches remind me of Rasasi Tobacco Blaze, a fragrance I'm not too keen on. However, without the apricot yogurt and ashtray vibe of TB I can forgive it. Luckily Oudh accord & Gold has a third stage and oh what a wonderful drydown it is. I don't say this lightly but it might be one of the best. It's a subtle dreamy, woods which are heavenly and non of that dry tobacco smoke it's more like saffron, resins and oud. It's not cloying or overly sweet either very understated but performs extremely well, I've got to say this is a really incredible fragrance and I picked it up at a MB discount store for a reasonable price considering the quality. I'm happy to add this to my collection and coupled with the shower gel (which has Gold flakes in) I'm sure will combine to make an even more positive experience.

This is my favourite Molton Brown. It smells opulent, expensive and well blended. I just struggle with MB's pricing. I don't find them value for money, especially as I can get frags just as well composed, that last a lot longer and are better value for money. 7/10

You know what this starts so well that i was very close to buy a bottle then after 1h mark, an off-putting smell made me give up the idea. It's as if it's an off-tune in the middle of a beautiful song, in my opinion it's wrong use of elemi.

Tobacco, nutmeg, myrrh, honey and agarwood. Neatly blended, resinous but mild and refined. Like other offerings from the house, this one seems to be a twist on a classic and typical manly cologne. Interesting selection.

New favorite oud scent! Not harsh, just beautiful wood accord and a little honey sweetness to mellow it out. Very smooth rendition of the note. Good beginner oud.

Concur on Dior Homme - smelled this similarity on the first spray. Very smooth, like Dior Homme but with an oudy bottom on it. Slightly soapy. Very good.

Hard, immediate love on this one. Having succumbed to the fact that it was freezing outside, I went into Molton Brown to buy a hand lotion. After pondering over a refreshing rose and rhubarb option, I eventually gave in to the knowledge that I am forever drawn to anything warm and enveloping, and opted to buy the Oudh and Gold. I slathered myself in it and didn't think too much about it, until I realised I could not stop raising my hands to my nose. By the time I'd got home, I'd ordered the matching toilette. Like others, I can't believe amber isn't listed. The honey note is not sweet; rather it's perfectly balanced against the wood, and a consistent warmth is brought by the cinnamon and nutmeg. Cosy, smooth and luxurious! I will probably buy the oil and shower gel, too. For a toilette I must mention, this is a powerhouse.

I bought this as an introduction to oud, and later realised it's likely a better fragrance for men. I'm not sure about this one - I like the spicy, woody notes, but the tobacco kind of sticks somewhere in the back of the throat in a bitter way. The initial impression is of a dated perfume, it might be Opium, but there's something in this that reminds me of Opium and I don't like it! Cross referencing, it could be the Myrhh? I sprayed in the morning and by the end of the day, could barely find it on my wrists, even after the first hour it wasn't projecting. Wouldn't buy again.

Mesmerizing Oudh Accord & Gold was a blind buy for me. I tried so hard to get on board with it, and I just cant. It contains so many of my favorite notes--myrrh, tobacco, tea, honey, nutmeg. It should have been perfection for me. I actually get virtually none of the notes it's supposed to contain. Instead it smells very synthetic, like a mix of pencil shavings and Iso E Super. I can't specifically make out any nutmeg nor cinnamon, only some sort of spicy aromachemical. About two hours in, a robust black tea note becomes more prominent, and from there it fades into a soft vetiver. I don't smell oud at all, which is actually fine with me, but I would have liked to smell ANY of those favorite notes I mentioned. I used to love this brand's Myrrh & Cypress bath gel, and that's just it, this smells like a really nice bath gel, not a fine fragrance.

I just received an eau de toilette tester from this. Well....hmm...., what I smell is, apple tangled by some creamy soap (could be some diluted artificial tabac blossom, but definiteley not to expect tabac leaves) and shaded by something wannabe but cannotafford resins, synthetic for sure, but not oud at all, not even synthetic oud, not myrhh either,beside that not a single traceof elemi,nutmeg, cinnamon or other ingredients shown in the list.I think the company invented the list of ingredients above just for fun. This is not niche at all, no doubt about that, could perhaps be an alternative for designer parfums.
