Ok, my two cents on - Exceptionnel by Mont Blanc!! I would start by saying this fragrance is 'exceptionnel/exceptional sophistication personified (non-human)'. This is an extremely sophisticated fragrance that can be worn by anyone who wants a subtle mystic fragrance oozing out of their respective bodies.... Many have complaint about its longevity, however, I have not faced this problem it's been 6+ hrs and still going good on me. You have to understand that perfumes with aromatic characteristics will not be evident to you that much, as they would be to others; I may not be able to smell the fragrance too hard on me, but somehow others are able smell on me from a distance; i.e. this frag has similar aromatic characteristics such as 'D&G The One'. My suggestion would be spay two times on your shirt and you will find a remarkable improvement in the longevity. :) Now getting back to the the fragrance of this EDT. Let me tell you that you will be able to observe/witness/smell/whiff transition of notes in a prominent way, I think way to prominent. The opening is similar to somewhat 'CK Euphoria Intense and Paco Rabanne 1 Million' but in a more sophisticated/slight boozier manner not too sweet. After 20-30 minutes you can feel the similarity with the dry down of 'Lacoste Red/Style in Play', however slightly sweeter and more elegant. The dry down is way too sophisticated to be termed as Black XS or 1 Million, it is no way similar to these two. The dry-down gives me a slight feel of 'D&G The One' (only in character), but slightly more musky-lavenderish-ginger-coffee and not at all overly sweet but very sophisticated. For me the transitioning of notes is magical and sophistication of the juice mesmerizes me!! Longevity is no issue - you may have to take close whiffs of the fragrance; however, others can smell it on you. I will definitely recommend it!

A very classy, very masculine, yet light blend of salty mandarin, amber, patchouli, and woods. I don't pick up much (if any) coffee in this, but I'd almost swear that there's cedar in there. The mandarin top notes are smooth and bright and sweet and salty. The scent doesn't evolve much, but I'm totally okay with that! Longevity is perfect and it will just barely last through an entire work day. This is my new favorite work scent alongside Versace Pour Homme, Bleu De Channel, and Dior Homme Cologne and I could easily see this being someone's go-to signature scent. It's very versatile, and just as fitting for a date as it is for the office. I've received some of my most enthusiastic compliments on this scent, including a couple girls introducing themselves to me, just so they could ask for a closer sniff of what I was wearing. I totally agree with the reviewer below me, this IS similar to Aventus, but with mandarin instead of the pineapple/lemon, and no smoky birch, black current, or vanilla. This is a mandarin version of what I THOUGHT Aventus would smell like before I smelled it. It's reminiscent of Aventus, but more wearable, cheerful, approachable, and overall more versatile than Aventus. It's a people pleaser, with that same smoky-citrus-patchouli vibe. If you like fruity batches of Aventus, you will likely enjoy this as well! Aside from Sauvage, this is the only thing in my wardrobe that blends into the dry down of Aventus or Club De Nuit Intense. If I wore Aventus/CDNI the night before, I'll be wearing Exceptionnel to work the next day. This is definitely one I'll use and repurchase, unless I find something better, which I'll be hard pressed to do. For $20, this is a STEAL. It definitely smells like it's worth much more! I can't recommend this one enough. It's in my top 5 for a very good reason!

The real “spice” bomb. It doesn’t smell anything like Viktor Rolf Spicebomb but that is to me sweet with spice and not a bomb of spice. Exceptionnel is a spicy orange bomb. When I first got it the opening was so spicy and a synthetic mix of all the notes clashing I gave it to my cousin. I’m glad he was playing madden online cause after a while it dried down and smelled very good in a mature gentlemen way. And the Sillage is great. He didn’t get to smell for playing madden so I took it back before he smelled it. This is not for younger men imo this is for a mature youngster for sure but to me it’s 30 and up. Spicy orange amber coffee bomb. Casual fragrance 2-3 sprays good for work etc...performance is very good even good enough for a club or bar dressed casual/mature. Perfect mr. serious mysterious Bruce Wayne frag the ladies won’t know where or how to place it because nothing smells like it.yet the Sillage will get their attention. Not a masterpiece but still very good for what it is. Gets the job done and you can’t beat the price Mature,classy elegant serious and mysterious casual gentleman frag for 20 bucks that lasts forever with good Sillage and nice projection Negatives are the overly spicy opening to mid and the notes clash at first making it smell super spicy and synthetic Season/winter

I haven’t smelled the dunhill or Tommy Bahama scents referenced above in the “smells like” category, but I have smelled michael kors, and I think it’s a fair comparison. I had michael kors for several years and really liked it. Very unique, but I felt like it was a little too unwearable at times. Exceptionnel definitely has some similarities with Michael kors, though i feel this is infinitely more wearable. This smells like what we’d hoped mugler would’ve released as an a-men flanker. The most prominent notes to me are orange, coffee and amber - which comes across as a bit of a dirty orange - almost a chocolate orange. To say this is overlooked is quite the understatement. Hard to believe that the aventus clone - and the joop clone are the scents that make the news - meanwhile, this is clearly head and shoulders above other releases from montblanc - and it’s original! While I wouldn’t travel across state lines to get this, I would certainly say that this is the montblanc to own out of their entire catalogue. Seems like this would be best worn in cool weather - but you can do whatever you want. Really solid release that’s not too expensive yet. Go ahead and buy it before it becomes wildly overpriced due to discontinuation. I paid $70 for mine from eBay. Solid 7/10

Exceptionnel is in my opinion one of, if not, THE BEST fragrance that Montblanc has put on the market. A very nice masculine woody-aromatic scent, very unique and different from today's stuff. My love towards it resides in the contrast between the freshness of the mandarin and ginger and the warmness of the coffee and amber...such a beautiful composition. It's one of those scents where you can smell every ingredient in it. Has moderate sillage, very good longevity. and it's a compliment getter from women and men. Such under the radar and underrated as many say. I remember my first encounter with it was back in 2009, when my dad bought it (there were so many bottles available in that time :( ). Back then I really liked it (and I still do) but it wasn't a fragrance I could pull off, since I was 18 years old at the time...10 years later my mind has changed and it is now something I would definitively wear. It's such a shame (but at the same time maybe a good thing) that it's discontinued. And I say a good thing because if it was still in the market today it would be reformulated and watered down. My dad and I share a 75ml bottle which is half full, but's getting harder nowadays finding one. One of the best designer releases from 2008. To me it's a 10/10
