Nautica

This one STILL works and is a timeless classic for sure !!! Nautica Classic opens up very bright and green from the aldehydes and citruses and is also kind of watery and clean at the same time! In a nutshell this smells like you used an oceanic scented fabric softener. Really simple,clean and sporty so it's perfect for casual use in the warmer months but nothing else. Nautical classic stays pretty linear but it does lose some of the brightness and muskiness of the opening but mellows down and gets a little bit smoother. It's not the best cologne in the world but on super hot days I want something clean,light and refreshing this has always been a go to of mine. It's also rare that I've went through 2 bottles of anything but this is one of those colognes. I've tried this many times over the years so the main difference to me between old and new versions are that the old version was muskier and more sharp whereas the new version is just lighter and less musky. Not a huge difference smell wise but the old version lasted me 6-10 hours whereas the new version lasts me 3-6 hours. Overall rating -7.5 out of 10 ! Because of the price and how easy this is to wear I will always have this in my collection but it's not a top tier fragrance by any means

Imagine if the color teal had a scent. That is Nautica OG. I def get the bar of soap references, but there is more there in the old batches. ..... yeah so I've been going down a rabbit hole of buying some of the colognes I had back in the day (old batches). Did Curve already. Now on Nautica. It is actually pretty easy to track down OG bottles - and they are cheap. I'll save you the trouble. The earliest ones say "Fashion & Designer Fragrance Group" or "Paul Sebastian" on the sticker. Then comes Halston. Then EA. EA ones will say FFI on the box (common to find these ones in box still). Last is Coty (newest). Avoid the Coty and EA ones. EA ones are lighter but still good. Easiest to find of the old stuff are the Halston ones. Strongest ones I found are from mini splashes (because they are sealed and less likely to leak) batch c4x2. Anyway.. It was fun tracking some down. I will be wearing it this summer! I don't care

I love this fragrance to wear in late Spring and Summer. It's my favorite of all the Nautica line of fragrances,so far and it's also my favorite aquatic fragrance(well,now it's being debated over "Tommy Bahama Set sail St.Martinique",which I like almost as well now)This "Nautica Classic" came out first then all the other flankers followed. It was kind of disappointing to see so many people say negative reviews on this site about it. I guess it's all about how different people perceive the smell of the fragrance. It does have some floral tones to it,and is slightly sweet and fresh.It just reminds me of being on the ocean or beach in the tropics or semi-tropics also places like the Florida,etc. in the summer. Only drawback on this scent (like most frags. made by Coty and the rest of the Nauticas is it doesn't seem to project very far(light sillage)and sprays on moderate and then doesn't last too long on the skin.

A lot of confusion from other reviews on here so let me say this... I don't buy this for OTHER people. It's not strong enough (sillage) and fades within 1-2 hours almost completely. However, this is one of MY personal faves as it has that aquatic, spring/summer vibe. Yes, it's ULTRA 90s but that's what I love about it. It's like a trip down memory lane. Keep in mind not everybody grew up in the 90s so it's time to reintroduce these youngins to the 90s LOL. You would have to keep spraying this on yourself throughout the day if you wanted to maintain the smell. Personally, I like it as a quick fix spritz just to give me a happy pick-me-up. Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Polo, Calvin Klein... those were the 90s! 2 things: (1) I like this better than Nautica Blue (2) I would LOVE for someone to suggest a frag that is like this but is longer lasting with more sillage.

I understand the confusion, but, for the young folks, this isn’t Nautica Classic or Nautica blue. This is Nautica, the OG, the original that started it all for the brand and took the mid 90’s by storm. This is discontinued. This isn’t a clear glass bottle with 100% synthetic, clear juice that’s been colored blue. The glass is blue, but the juice is a light gold, creating a slight blue-green color. Despite the color, the name and the appearance, this isn’t an aquatic as we think of them today with watery notes. It’s a woody chypre that’s rich and seductive somehow like Carolina Herrera Aqua. At the same time, it’s the deepest-smelling, soapy fragrance I can think of. Maybe if CHA crossed with John Varvatos Blu in that way. It was my first and I’m glad to have found a vintage bottle for the memories.
