This one STILL works and is a timeless classic for sure !!! Nautica Classic opens up very bright and green from the aldehydes and citruses and is also kind of watery and clean at the same time! In a nutshell this smells like you used an oceanic scented fabric softener. Really simple,clean and sporty so it's perfect for casual use in the warmer months but nothing else. Nautical classic stays pretty linear but it does lose some of the brightness and muskiness of the opening but mellows down and gets a little bit smoother. It's not the best cologne in the world but on super hot days I want something clean,light and refreshing this has always been a go to of mine. It's also rare that I've went through 2 bottles of anything but this is one of those colognes. I've tried this many times over the years so the main difference to me between old and new versions are that the old version was muskier and more sharp whereas the new version is just lighter and less musky. Not a huge difference smell wise but the old version lasted me 6-10 hours whereas the new version lasts me 3-6 hours. Overall rating -7.5 out of 10 ! Because of the price and how easy this is to wear I will always have this in my collection but it's not a top tier fragrance by any means

Imagine if the color teal had a scent. That is Nautica OG. I def get the bar of soap references, but there is more there in the old batches. ..... yeah so I've been going down a rabbit hole of buying some of the colognes I had back in the day (old batches). Did Curve already. Now on Nautica. It is actually pretty easy to track down OG bottles - and they are cheap. I'll save you the trouble. The earliest ones say "Fashion & Designer Fragrance Group" or "Paul Sebastian" on the sticker. Then comes Halston. Then EA. EA ones will say FFI on the box (common to find these ones in box still). Last is Coty (newest). Avoid the Coty and EA ones. EA ones are lighter but still good. Easiest to find of the old stuff are the Halston ones. Strongest ones I found are from mini splashes (because they are sealed and less likely to leak) batch c4x2. Anyway.. It was fun tracking some down. I will be wearing it this summer! I don't care

I love this fragrance to wear in late Spring and Summer. It's my favorite of all the Nautica line of fragrances,so far and it's also my favorite aquatic fragrance(well,now it's being debated over "Tommy Bahama Set sail St.Martinique",which I like almost as well now)This "Nautica Classic" came out first then all the other flankers followed. It was kind of disappointing to see so many people say negative reviews on this site about it. I guess it's all about how different people perceive the smell of the fragrance. It does have some floral tones to it,and is slightly sweet and fresh.It just reminds me of being on the ocean or beach in the tropics or semi-tropics also places like the Florida,etc. in the summer. Only drawback on this scent (like most frags. made by Coty and the rest of the Nauticas is it doesn't seem to project very far(light sillage)and sprays on moderate and then doesn't last too long on the skin.

A lot of confusion from other reviews on here so let me say this... I don't buy this for OTHER people. It's not strong enough (sillage) and fades within 1-2 hours almost completely. However, this is one of MY personal faves as it has that aquatic, spring/summer vibe. Yes, it's ULTRA 90s but that's what I love about it. It's like a trip down memory lane. Keep in mind not everybody grew up in the 90s so it's time to reintroduce these youngins to the 90s LOL. You would have to keep spraying this on yourself throughout the day if you wanted to maintain the smell. Personally, I like it as a quick fix spritz just to give me a happy pick-me-up. Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Polo, Calvin Klein... those were the 90s! 2 things: (1) I like this better than Nautica Blue (2) I would LOVE for someone to suggest a frag that is like this but is longer lasting with more sillage.

I understand the confusion, but, for the young folks, this isn’t Nautica Classic or Nautica blue. This is Nautica, the OG, the original that started it all for the brand and took the mid 90’s by storm. This is discontinued. This isn’t a clear glass bottle with 100% synthetic, clear juice that’s been colored blue. The glass is blue, but the juice is a light gold, creating a slight blue-green color. Despite the color, the name and the appearance, this isn’t an aquatic as we think of them today with watery notes. It’s a woody chypre that’s rich and seductive somehow like Carolina Herrera Aqua. At the same time, it’s the deepest-smelling, soapy fragrance I can think of. Maybe if CHA crossed with John Varvatos Blu in that way. It was my first and I’m glad to have found a vintage bottle for the memories.

The more I wear this the more I love this !! A classic for sure !! A fairly linear scent but this opens up smelling like a very airy, sea breeze style soap!! For some this may be boring but if your just looking to smell out of the shower fresh and clean then this is perfect !! In the mid and dry down it gets a little less bright and more smooth and even slightly creamy ! A truly beautiful,pleasant while also being simple, type of scent !! Performance-I get 5-8 hours with pretty nice moderate projection for 1.5 hours but it leaves a very nice scent trail for the whole life !! (For me the longer this sits the more well rounded and less synthetic this scent becomes) Overall rating-8 out of 10 !! One of my favorites but it does lack originality

This may not be considered top shelf. But this is by far one of my favorite EDTs. Not only do I get the feeling of nostalgia, taking me back to the 90s when I first smelled this, but I feel it is highly UNDERRATED. It reminds me of being on a sail boat with that ocean breeze, something I'm sure they intended per the brand. Plus, I respect Nautica as a BRAND. They were really popular with us "urban" youth in Georgia in the 90s. This was probably THE FIRST cologne I ever stopped and took notice of. I compared it to other "urban" brands back then like Tommy Hilfiger and they didn't match up to this. For some strange reason, Nautica Blue doesn't capture the feeling this one does.

This cologne smells like a really nice, mild laundry soap mixed with an ocean breeze. It's soft, refreshing, and easy on the nose. It's pretty weak stuff, but a great value if you find it in the $10-15 dollar range. Perfect for a hot summer day and a t-shirt or a trip to the pool. Definitely a safe blind buy! It is a fantastic smelling scent that is fairly linear, but gets soapier in the dry down. Value: (if bought for cheap) 8/10 Longevity: 3/10 on skin, 5/10 on clothes Sillage: 4/10 Scent: 8/10

It smells fresh, clean and salty. I like. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who dislikes the smell of dove brick soap, it reminds me of that. Not very strong (6 sprays over neck and chest): - skin smell: 9 hours (stays after shower) - sillage: not quite arms length, it's very weak, like maybe elbow length if lucky Anyway, fresh out of the shower smell that sort of smells like dove brick soap (idk like 50-80% simular) I'm no profesional, but this is what my nose says

I think that this fragrance is amazing for what it is. It is a cheap fragrance that smells like soap, and I adore it! To say it smells like normal bar soap I feel is an understatement. I would describe it as the smell of a greenhouse, if that makes sense. Love it! Of course it doesn't last long or project a ton, but for the price that's fine. It's a scent I wear around the house just because I love it. For 12 dollars, you might as well grab it.

Just picked up the 3.4 today. Ahhh the memories with this one. Even if you don't have any of your own, you will have some with it. It's aquatic so it has that freshness to it to the point where you can sniff it all day and not get sick of it, although, I wouldn't recommend it ( You might pass out :O ) Fresh + Clean = Cannot go wrong. Recommended for the warmer times for sure, it's too light and soft for the cold.

This cologne is an awesome fragrance for men.My fiance likes it,and I notice the aquatic tones,and the citrus in it as well.Great lasting power.Highly recommended.Good for casual use. I highly agree with Venom.DO NOT overdo,or this scent can get cloying very fast,and very soapy,and overly woody if applied in excess.If applied correctly,this scent will smell pleasant.

For years I've been using Biotherm's Homme skincare and showergel products which have amazing addictive marine scent always wanted to have a perfume smelling like this. Finally found it in "Nautica Classic" (previously named just "Nautica"). The performance is not bad actually 3-4hrs easy, which is totally fine for this type of fragrance.

Hubby is on second bottle. There will be a third bottle for sure. I love this on him, and maybe just his chemistry but it lasts a full 12 hours on him. All Nautica scents (that I've ever smelled) are a favorite of mine. I'd wear it myself but I'd look silly with my head buried in my own shirt!

A great aquatic scent with a fresh, unique smell. Produces moderate sillage but slowly fades and becomes faint. For $20, Nautica provides a terrific fragrance, perfect for nearly any occasion

Great for everyday use office work gym safe non offensive scent and very fresh . Classic scent. Love it. Just like any other fresh longevity and sillage very weak. Overspray safe.

Nautica is a great cologne. This takes me back to my high school days coming up trying smell fresh for class. Perfect casual everyday use that never gets old and very cheap price

I always liked this one, it smells fresh and masculine, I love the fresh out of the shower smell, it has nice overtones, this is one of my favorite scents on a guy.

Opening is kind of woody and spicy. The drydown smells like soapy or detergent-ish. Would recommend for a summer use.

For 12$ you can’t go wrong. It smells just like soap. Great drag for the price.

This was my signature senior year of high school and a couple years after. Basically 17-19, I loved the vintage, probably emptied 3 or 4 big bottles in that 3 year span. I'm 43 now and honestly hadn't smelled it since maybe 2002, so seeing that it was on sale in AU for Father's Day for only $15, purely out of nostalgic curiosity I picked a bottle of classic up. I can't remember what they cost back in the 90's but it seems really cheap. Either way I instantly was brought back 20 years when I cracked the cap and gave it a good inhale. Obviously I knew it probably was more nostalgia, but I still really like this fragrance. I can't say I recall this much of a soapy note from back in the day but I honestly don't mind it too much, it leaves quickly after application for me at least. I put it on this afternoon to take it for a spin, I still like it. I can't say since it's been so long since I've smelled the original how close it is but, I will say that it only lasted about 4-5 hours on my skin. The projection wasn't great, just average, but I smelled it on my shirt for another 2 hours. That was with about 8 total sprays. I only used that many because I assumed it would be weaker at that price point. I would probably use at least that many going forward when I wear it, or try to layer it with a body wash or lotion to give a little more longevity and projection. I still think this is probably geared for the under 21 demographic for the most part, but in no way should it be limited to that. I think it's a great fresh and clean scent that is ideal for a daily gym scent, or even for the office if you don't get a lot of projection like I did. Definitely a daytime scent in warm weather for me, but I don't see why I would wear this or at night on the beach, or walking around town on a date in the city. It just smells good to me and I wanna wear it to feel fresh as well a smell fresh. It may seem too youthful for some I suppose, but you like what you like, wear what you like is what I say. I do wish I could find a vintage bottle to see the difference in formulations. This is my first review here, I hope it isn't trash lol, I'll update this if necessary if my experience changes in the next few wearings Update, 23 Sep 23 After a few wearings, I'm sad to say that I feel the most recent formulation definitely is weaker than I remember 20-something years ago. As I said before, it seems more soapy than I remember as well, but I still really enjoy the scent. It projects at arm's length for me for about 2 hours, and then almost immediately turns into a skin scent, which is then gone after 4 to 4.5 hours total. I definitely remember smelling Nautica on my shirt days later when I was a teen wearing this every day. Oh well, it's totally fine for just a freshie to wear around the house, or working in the yard during the day, or maybe at the gym, but not much else unless you're 15-17 years old.

I'm with everyone else on this one... I still remember the first time I smelled this. I was probably 11 years old. It was my mom's boyfriend's cologne. There were only a few sprays left, and he was obviously avoiding throwing away the bottle. For that reason, I took a sniff, and I could see why. This became my first cologne on my own "want" list. By the time I finally got around to owning it, I didn't wear it too often, and had an old bottle last me until about 2012. For me, this cologne was something to love back then. Now? I guess I could see the right person loving it still. It's a very clean scent whereas it used to be a very oceanic scent. But for me, it's only reminiscent of the scent that I fell in love with back then. Every time I smell this, it reminds me of interviewing for a new job. That's what this scent is perfect for, and what I've probably worn it for in the past since 2012. It smells clean. Absolutely no one will hate it, and it's very inoffensive. Unfortunately though, it's lost a lot of its personality. I'm hopeful that one day, rather than the trend being reformulating colognes to be weaker, that the industry will wake up and start reformulating scents to be BETTER. Evolved maybe, to stay current. Wishful thinking maybe? But all in all, for the price, if you don't have a good "clean" scent in your collection, this is a pretty safe bet. Also, I agree with AlexFox below. This scent does pair very well with the chlorine smell after swimming, and in my experience, it intensifies the smell of this scent.

Nautica by Nautica ok this is another first impression review because icce never tried this yet, only the nautica blue and nautica voyage so ill do a full review later on i geuss, ok first impression ill try my best it looks like it has a lot of notes,! i dont know if i cant actually decribe this very well, theirs so many notes im not used to yet but i get something like a spicy fruity woody kind of smell i think maybe its citrusy instead of fruity, but its not bad i like it, it does not project well at all! nautica blue is way better in my opinion! ratings- Longevity- N/A, full review later on Projection- 2.3/10 you need to put your nose really close to smell this one, overall smell- 4.9/ 10 its okay, its not terrible, it was a blind buy so you get what you get//.. overall so far its a 3.6 out of 10 for me right now Hope this helped.!

Somehow I missed this gem in the '90s .... but it's dirt cheap and I LOVE IT! It's slightly citrus in the opening but mostly it's a light woody floral that's clean, fresh and soapy shower-gel type of fragrance. IF you like saving money and also really like Azarro Chrome (I do) ... then instead of paying $35 for Chrome ... get Nautica for $16 instead. This is a totally safe blind buy for just about any age ... assuming you like this type of scent profile. I get around 5-6 hours after spraying fairly heavily with 4-6 sprays. Oh ... the little glass ship bottle, along with its unique teal color juice gives it a couple of extra points for presentation. The only little negative is because of the shape of the ship bottle, it's a little difficult to hold and depress to spray it.

I remember wearing this throughout high school and my early 20's. It was ok to me then but I got tons of compliments so I figured why not. It was the only scent that made me sneeze during the opening. That was some 15-20 years ago and I can say that this has dramatically changed. For starters I won this in an auction with about 5 others about a year ago. I forgot about this one until today. The sprayer is blue. I am thinking WTF!! Then the batch code is from 2011. I figured I might as well try it before I sell it. I am pissed. It's a very light lime scent with a light woody base. Not at all what I remembered The opening used to be very pungent and all I can say is that it's a shadow of it's former self.

Soapy, citrus, fresh, and a bit minty to me. It's decently smooth before the dry down. Not cloying to me like some higher priced options. I will never understand the polar opposite repulsiveness for a DNA that's on the fresher side, unlike one that is intentionally heavy, spicy or a situation like Santal 33 being described by some smelling like "Pickles". People's noses and opinions vary greatly it seems, but not sure to what extent. 😂 Don't get me wrong I have my dislikes, like finding usual blue/ocean fragrances not to my liking, but while I'm not extremely repulsed by them, this one is almost like a soap bar/clean laundry scent, with more subdued blue notes.

Bang for Buck...$12.99 here in Australia. Can't go wrong! Don't know what it used to be like, but man for the price this is a nice aromatic and fresh fragrance. It's fresh and aquatic, nothing ground breaking, but still nice. To be honest I prefer this over Cool Water. Now the bad. The bottle...I mean WTF? Terrible design in looks but even worse when you try to hold it and use the sprayer. The sprayer isn't the best, so having an impracticable bottle design is not helping things. For the price of a Big Mac meal, it's worth it...and let's face it, you'll be crapping out that Big Mac meal in a couple of hours ;)

The Aldehydes are really all I get for the first 5 minutes. After that calms down, the fresh and citrus comes out which is pleasant. What I really get from this is the floral notes. The floral combined with the woody base and the leftover fresh citrus end up still smelling masculine. The floral I get makes me want to wear this for spring more than summer actually. This might smell dated to some, but I think it works. I don't love it but I got it for like $12 on Amazon and it does smell nice so I can't complain. I would recommend it if you can get it for the same price.

I like this scent. It's very basic and masculine. Very 90's scent and is outdated but still worth the $10 I spent on the 1.7 oz bottle. My uncle used to wear this during my childhood, so it brings back familiar memories. Good for the office/gym/or lounging at home and can even work with a shirt and tie depending on how "classy" you want to smell. Definitely for a young man in early to mid 20's. The longevity is decent, although the projection is only strong for the first hour or so.

It's cheap... It's weak... It's synthetic... But it's actually not bad. I use it as an after the shower fragrance, and it's great for that. But when my collection was a lot smaller I would actually wear this to work on warm days (I work outdoors mainly), and even though the longevity is pretty bad, I'd spray my work shirt and it'd keep me smelling fresh for the first part of the day. For the price you can grab this for I see no reason to not at least give it a try.

My bottle is a lot more floral (Jasmine) than what others are saying. Definitely not a bad thing for a high schooler like myself. Wears off extremely quickly but for the price it’s no big deal to reapply when needed. Like others are saying, it’s very aquatic and great for summer. I’m going to have to give it a 7/10 just because of how fast it wears off. I would give it a 6 if it wasn’t so gosh darn cheap.

I completely agree with Sean AA's review - vintage version is really good, if you can find a fresh bottle. I was so fortunate to find a 1992 large spray that just came in yesterday! So fresh and cooling in the summer heat! Love the woodsy and sweet musky dry down as well. Decent projection and longevity in the vintage version. This was truly a feel good 90s scent that's still worth seeking out.

This was one of my very first absolute favorites. I absolutely adore this scent. My biggest issue with it is that it's stamina is very weak. 30 minutes later I find it difficult to even notice that I applied it. I do love aquatic scents big-time and this cologne really set the standard for aquatics. It's kind of out-dated and super youthful, but regardless, this will always be in my top 10.

Although reformulation has weakened this classic, it is still a great value at $13. With a dozen sprays, i get moderate to good projection and about 4-6+ hours of longevity. Its a warm aquatic with a slight sweet note, and is suitable for almost any situation or season. Great gift as a first fragrance for teens. Very inoffensive and perfect for office or intimate settings.

It's a nice scent, Fresh , Clean and Floral. Projection and Longevity are not good but it smells so good and very pleasant. It opens up with like fresh citrusy, green notes and floral notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. The Jasmine note is dominant in this perfume. This is perfect for the spring and summer. I like Nautica Classic for Men. Rating : 7 / 10

Shower gel in perfume form. I wouldn’t expect much from this but it has its place when you just want to extend the fresh out of the shower feeling. Perfect for the office or when dealing with business clients as it’s so bland and inoffensive. Zero projection or silage. I tend to think of this more as a light finishing touch to complete your daily hygiene routine.

Adding and updating my review: this is actually very good. A perfect mix of aldehydes and floral notes, especially jasmine. It is special in that it does this very well; better than most, especially at this price. This is about the most floral masculine scent I have. Nice bit of oceanic scent in there, too, or reminds me of something oceanic.

If Nautica Classic lasted longer, this would be THE perfect aquatic in my opinion. Old school 90s freshie, that still smells good to this day. I had never smelled this before, so when I saw this for $15 at TJ Maxx, I took the plunge. For that price this stuff is well worth it, but just know it definitely will not last all day.

There are fragrances that you have to bathe in.....and the reformulated "Nautica Classic" is worth bathing in. I stepped out of the shower hours ago... literally oversprayed....10 maybe 12. And it's wonderfully pleasant. Again worth it. At the price. I've had expensive frags that would require as much and then it hurts

Pleasant and fresh, with some very notable jasmine up front. Nothing too special at all, but very nice. Something for people who are overwhelmed by the vast volume of fragrance choices, maybe. Just grab this one. It is fine. And inexpensive. You could do much worse.

Women don't mind it. I don't mind it doesn't stand out perfect for the gym. Honestly 6/10 let's not pretend this is amazing but for 14 USD this is a perfect gym, basketball, park scent but I would not wear this to work or serious events or parties.

Would be interesting to score a vintage bottle for a trip down memory lane, but paying 70 bucks for it would be a tough pill to swallow. Nautica’s house has turned into nothing but a cash grab for the last, almost 15 years now.

Smells very good and distinct. Spray too much and it becomes a soapy smell. Lasts a long time and is a great classic. As old as it may be it is still not recognized by many and will draw good attention, just don't overdue it.

You can usually find this for a bargain, and it's defintely worth it. Very aquatic 90s scent. I've always thought it smelled like a weaker version of CK Escape, which actually came out a year later.

It’s pretty good for what it is to be fair. This is the type of cologne you wanna spray heavy with I work outdoors and 9 sprays lasted my whole shift for the 13 bucks it cost I say its worth having.

Wore this in the 90s... Pretty chintzy smelling.... Typical stock fragrance....thin, linear... You get what you pay for with this one. A good starter fragrance for a teenager on an allowance.

I like it for the price. It is easy going shower gel like scent. It has mainly citrus notes and jasmine what I get from my 2022 batch. Citrus and Jasmine mainly.

Very basic to the max, fresh spicy aquatic vibe, it JUST smells ok, nothing unique, longetivity is poor. all in all good smell for the gym.
