Néroli Intense

I love this one. Orange+orange blossom+ tarragon with the added waxiness of beeswax. Heavier and sweeter than Cap Neroli, but I don't find it too heavy. It smells pretty natural without any soapiness or any cleaning product or dryer sheet or sunscreen that I get from other OB or neroli colognes. I've been wearing it almost every evening because I find it calming and uplifting at the same time. I have scent-glue skin, and I have to say the longevity is only around 3-4 hours on me. Boo! Lasts longer on clothing. The base has that dusky, bitter oakmoss thing going on. Not my favorite part, but the 1st hour or 2 make me so happy that I can stand the part I don't love. Alternately, sometimes I can smell white musk in the base, but other times I don't detect it. I got the 30ml bottle and it's almost 1/2 gone already in less than a month! I don't think I've gone through anything that quickly in like 5 years. It doesn't smell like Neroli Potofino to me. That definitely has a more beachy feel with some soapiness.

This is like nothing I have ever smelled before. Of course it has the immediate hit of neroli, but also, underlying it, something so sweet and sensual... part of me thinks of toffee-apples beside an autumnal bonfire, but then another part is basking in a warm sunlit summer meadow full of bees and flowers. It is a truly delightful fragrance - possibly a little bit "sweet" for everyday use, but... this for me is the scent of high late summer, as it just begins to tip over into early autumn. Absolutely brilliant scent.

I have been seeking a quality, natural smelling neroli fragrance ever since I heard Profumum changed formula. The best part of this one is it has that magical Guerlain-like sillage that floats throughout your personal space so you aren’t holding your wrist to your nose to get a reminder of what you put on this morning. My only caveat is that this a tiny bit too sweet for me (although others will surely disagree). Otherwise a neroli masterpiece.

A fresh take on a fresh-scented favourite. This is one oddly green-grass-ish and slightly soapy treatment of neroli - always one of my most beloved smells in the world, but obviously the tarragon in here is really playing up its identity as the smell of a PLANT, and a very lovely one at a very lovely stage too. The scent itself does have distinctive character, so stifle your yawns about 'yet another neroli' and give it a fair sniffing. On me it tends more to high, fresh zinginess rather than the sweeter more mellow blends I know - it's definitely sharper and brighter then Tom Ford N Portofino or Yves Rocher Secrets d'Essences - and that does set it apart from the rest of this large, orange-blossom-scented field (orchard?). It's a rich, dark green, too - with that almost-bitter snap and sting you get when you tear a fresh lemon or orange leaf. I had thought/hoped that the beeswax might make it a little mellower and longer-lasting yet, but on me that doesn't come through with the same clarity as in L'Artisan's Seville a L'Aube, for instance. And it's pretty one-note - it seems to hover almost forever in the same clean, smack-your-face green fresh moment - which may be a plus or a minus for you. Doesn't have the fascinating evolution from citrus to darker spice of Neroli d'Ispahan, or the Janus-faced flit back and forth between neroli, tea and warm amber of Neroli Outrenoir, so although it is beautiful it's maybe not quite so clever as those - though it's only a little cheaper. Still, the Nicolai is perceptibly classy, seems loaded with good ingredients, and the soapiness never gets too close to reminding you of domestic chores. It also has pretty impressive life for any sort of citric scent (on me, up to 7h as a skin scent, with 3-4 of high-intensity performance, which is a really strong showing.) Factor in its longevity and price, along with its beauty, and we may just have a winner. Deserves your time to try, at the very least, if neroli exhilarates you - it's a very respectable product indeed.

So, this is, "okay and somewhat of a surprise." With this said, I'm still uncertain about this perfume fragrance. After purchasing and falling in love with Memo Paris "Sintra," I decided to explore other, more affordable orange blossom and neroli based fragrances. The opening of "Neroli Intense" is very very pretty, as I immediately detect and identify a very natural, realistic, orange blossom note. The opening is very soothing, feminine, practically soft and pretty. I love the opening fragrance a whole lot. However, within minutes, extremely sour, bitter and astringent neroli and tarragon notes emerge. And the bitterness of the fragrance at this point is more than I expected. The gentle, floral, orange-blossom notes are gone, as the perfume is completely overtaken by bitter, almost harsh tarragon notes. More harsh notes than I care to live with, frankly. The waxiness, or beeswax element is evident in both the opening and the drydown. The beeswax lends a thicker, nearly nectar-like quality to the fragrance. The waxiness is quite nice and unlike anything I've experienced in a fragrance. The beeswax actually helps tone-down some of the fragrance's sourness. I can live with the bitter-green petitgrain notes and the sharper, more astringent neroli notes. After all, Neroli Intense IS a NEROLI-CENTRIC experience, right?? But sadly, it's the tarragon that ruins the fragrance for me. Within 30-45 minutes, the entire formula seems to blend smoothly and land (somewhat) harmoniously on my skin. As I'm wearing Neroli Intense on a more regular basis, the fragrance IS growing on me. But I'm still not loving the strong tarragon notes. Somewhat disappointing.

While I like Neroli Intense, I find it very different from most descriptions, and from what I actually expected. On me, Neroli Intense takes cue from the herbal astringency of Mandarine Basilic with a very prominent and saturated neroli and petit grain, and a slice of Seville a l’Aube with the prominent beeswax. While Mandarine Basilic features a basil note that’s quite intense, tarragon fills the spot here. It’s green and tangy, but never bitter or heavily present. It’s there and offsets the neroli. The orange blossom and pittosporum are more subtle on me. I sense their sweet nectar but more like a shadow. The beeswax adds the waxy and woody feel without going honeyed all the way. Sweet is the least of what I get with Neroli Intense. I did want something heavier and more floral focused. But then Elie Saab fills that void. I do get a very good and lasting neroli cologne. More fruit than flower, more tangy than sweet and with a touch of the unexpected with the lovely beeswax. Not what I had in mind but nonetheless beautiful. Classy, lasting and very Nicolai!!

Néroli Intense - I was expecting yet another weak and pathetic neroli scent but this one surprised me, it actually lives up to the claim of being somewhat intense. Neroli is a note that when focused upon, needs to have a simple backbone to properly celebrate it. The rich, sultry soapiness of the neroli is perfected here. It’s balanced brilliantly and smells so fantastically realistic, if you close your eyes it’s almost as if you’re smelling it directly from the branches of the orange tree. The clean white aspect with vibrant hints of bitter orange and a touch of green aromatics it’s smoothed out by a gorgeously sweet and creamy beeswax note. This is fantastic. As neroli goes, I’m not usually the biggest fan but this is a really nice one. If you consider yourself a big lover of neroli this is a must try.

A diaphanous white/golden neroli. The tarragon and petitgrain offer a bit of green but are very subtle here—I long for more. Much less heady than Cap Néroli on my skin, but also warmer and softer. The beeswax is the main secondary player. I love the sumptuous autumnal quality it brings to an otherwise airy composition. Very linear, I could see this being a great workday fragrance if you really dig this sweet take on neroli. I must respect the vision here but I honestly much prefer cap neroli, which is less unexpected (closer to a classic cologne) by is both more refreshing and more complex on my skin. Still, it is impressive for a house to offer two neroli soliflores that are so divergent while also sharing a certain family resemblance.

In Neroli Intense, master perfumer Patricia de Nicolai approaches Neroli with a unique beeswax approach. The opening is a very pleasant sparkling orange, petitgrain and neroli combination, with the neroli increasing in strength as the citrus sparkle fades. The neroli begins to then dominate to a worrying degree, as the besswax accord enters the picture, providing a slight indolic effect to the neroli, giving it a slightly suffocating jasmine-like effect. The beeswax accord is very well executed and almost photorealistic in its aroma. In order to fully appreciate Neroli Intense, one must be a fan of honey, and strong white florals.

My favourite from the line so far. Thick neroli with ample nectary orange flower in the opening before it heads greener, drier, smokier in the main accord — turning into exactly the type of neroli I love. Heaven. And as the neroli slowly burns off other notes take up the baton, together creating a neroli-like mood: polite white-floral pittosporum, ambery beeswax, green-with-a-hint-of-sour tarragon and a transparent, crystal patchouli. It's clever stuff, perfectly balanced and feels like a seamless continuation from the earlier stage. A must-test for fans of less orange blossom-forward neroli perfumes.

Honey-infused neroli and petitgrain in an almost edible, juicy citrus zest. This is golden elixir radiating balmy summer days, pollen-tipped bees, waxy white flowers and all things bright and beautiful. Pittosporum flowers add a dreamy element to the orchard vibe and this is a Patricia de Nicolai perfume, so it's a perfect balance despite the fact it's linear and what you begin with is what you get. Radiates off my skin like dew in sunlight. Distillation: the scent of orchards neroli and petitgrain feeding happy bees

A true Neroli scent with a backbone of musky beeswax. There is a slight soapiness and opaqueness to the neroli that cuts any sweetness it might otherwise have had. There are also green pungent herbs poking through here and there, and the overall effect is dry, musky and animalic, but in a sophisticated way. I really like this, though not for myself. It’s very masculine, and appropriate for most situations, from office to a date.

This is really nice. It’s pretty linear and uninteresting but very lovely for what it is. A perfume can be good without being complex or unique. I really enjoy my sample but a FB unfortunately wouldn’t be worth the price.

I love neroli, but this perfume is too intense, sharp, aggressive. It can be good for a man, or for an aftershave lotion. The fragrance is not bad, but it does not have any charm on a woman

Fresh against earthy musky beeswax I love Neroli Intense for many reasons, even more so than the related and also stunning Seville a l'Aube. There is something about the structure of the more classically oriented Nicolai perfumes that feels so harmonious, like one of those silhouette type art pieces that work with proportions, precision and negative space rather than excess and glamour. From the first impression and all the way into the deep dry down i get two opposite poles contrasting each other, on one hand tart bright ethereal citrusy florals, on the other green earthy camphoraceous blurred by a veil of musky, slightly animalic beeswax. In the opening, bright neroli sunshine and warm zesty mandarin contrasts the herbal green taragon giving us that familiar Mandarine Basilic effect, albeit being a more floral scent profile. The neroli transitions into a clean white floral heart while the tarragon mingles with petitgrain and a fuzzy patchouli in the development, giving a similar contrast, brought together by the musky beeswax. Really good stuff, not as strikingly unique as Cap Neroli which i find to be very different in its structure and end effect, but my personal favorite from the two. A real pity that its being discontinued.

Very loud and synthetic feeling white flower fragrance. Like a 80’s powerhouse womens fragrance. I had to scratch it off actually. Too loud (got headache) and I did not like the smell- and I love neroli, but only when its soft, natural and sophisticated. Also, it is very feminin leaning and I like to wear unisex to masculine smells. For reference, if you were child in the 80s and remember those intense hugs from old aunties, thats pretty much Neroli Intense in a nutshell. I guess old school fragrances are a part of Nicolais consept and they typically not work for me. I would actually say that super intense fragrances like this is causing war on fragrances and prohibition of parfumes at workplaces etc, because they offend people with their intensity. This is not smooth, but has a sharpness that gave me headache.

With Neroli Intense, Patricia de Nicolai takes neroli to a near narcotic level with white florals, including the addition of a pittosporum accord. What is pittosporum you might ask? Pittosporum tobira, a popular ornamental shrub often used for hedges, produces small, creamy-white fragrant flowers, set in clusters at the ends of stems. Their scent is reminiscent of a cross between orange blossom and privet, blooming between April-May. While it opens with an effervescent neroli and citrus, the sparkle is eclipsed with a sensuous white floral accord affixed with beeswax, making this a far richer neroli scent that one would expect. The contrast between its greener elements and the beeswax adds interest and really makes this an enjoyable wear for me.

Someone mentioned orange groves and bees, I will go a bit further, and say that this reminds me of walking through an orange grove in Calabria. Yes, there were quite a few bees buzzing in and around those trees, and like this scent, the atmosphere was heavy lidded. This is one of those rare de Nicolais that do not evolve. That is a good thing, because the initial accord is such a lovely one, that it would be a shame to lose it to a middle of the road ending. Oranges, orange blossoms, pittosporum (which may smell like privet) and beeswax dominate, and the effect is sleepy, kind of like that place in C.S. Lewis' novel The Magician's Nephew, a place where things grow and drowse, and nothing ever happens.

This smells like my great grandmothers house in the 90s, and like French-milled bar soap you might find in a nice guest bathroom. It is a lovely blend, I agree with others that the sparkly opening is my favorite part but this is definitely old fashioned to me. I don’t hate it, it is just not for me, even as a home type of scent, due to my association. Note, this was tried on my skin only and not a blotter, so it of course could wear differently on someone else :)
