Muskane

I love a good musk scent, but all too often musks don't like me: some are too screechy, or too overwhelming, or headache inducing, or have a tendency to break down and give an aqua velva vibe after a couple of hours. These unfortunate occurrences don't stop me from trying musks, however, and now I have discovered Muskane. OMG I am in love with this beautiful scent. It is a lightly floral, fresh, intoxicating musk that is so beautifully blended it holds its shape until the end (8 hours on me). It is light and clean in the beginning with the musk as a comforting backdrop and it becomes softer and warmer as the floral notes dissipate. Prior to this beauty, my favorite musks were Narciso's Musc Oil Perfume and Musc Eau de Parfum Intense for Her, sadly unavailable now, and while the latest Narciso releases are OK I find them disappointing after the earlier creations. Happy to have discovered Nishane and this lovely perfume!

A friendly SA who knows my taste gave me a generous 5ml sample. Upon first sniff I was not wowed. A throwback to my teens when my mother doused herself in Jovan Musk. I love musk but this one did not stand out from other musks nor did it seem worth the price tag... Or did it? I have never received so many compliments on one day! Is it simple and clean? Yes! But with the right skin chemistry Muskane creates a a huge musky cloud floating around you and it lasts all day!

I’m surprised how much I am enjoying this one. The raspberry note balances the musk resulting in a photorealistic smell of freshly ironed clothes. So for me it smells clean and comforting. Performance is stellar. Going strong after 12 hours and one of the few of my collection that I can comfortably say is appropriate for my workplace in a hospital.

Bought a sample of this one, and shortly after wearing it a few times, I had to have it. Very linear and simple fragrance, but really pleasant, and nice. The fragrance smells exactly as the notes listed, and doesn't evolve much. Predominantly a VERY clean, white and soapy musk, with a sweet background of raspberry, a hint of rose and powdery violet, with the amber and vanilla becoming more prominent as the scent dries down hours later, but these two notes still remaining subtle and over-powered by the musk, raspberry and florals, and rather just add a nuance of scent profile to the raspberry and musk. Perfectly unisex. You'd think by seeing the notes that it'd smell feminine, but it honestly doesn't. The strong clean musk keep it from smelling like a typical feminine floral fragrance, and it smells like a good niche-quality concoction of how sweet notes can smell unisex. Performance is excellent. Projects at least 5 feet away, and lasts a long time. Don't let the anosmia fool you. Being a fragrance of majority heavy notes, your nose can get fatigued quite quickly, but it's definitely present, and performing. Definitely test it first, but if you like clean musks and soapy fragrances, I think you'll really like this one.

First impression: raspberry, violet, roses and musk. Lots and lots of musk. Unlike a brand like say, Le Labo (which I also like) Nishane does not pull any name shenanigans. If they tell you it's musk, then it's tons of strong musk. Very soapy and floral. Reminds me a a few different fragrances: Demeter Pure Soap, J-Scent Paper soap, and the drydown of Kilian Musk Oud. But this is definitely the classic variety. I'm not sure why this one gets no love unless you hate white musk and/or florals. I will say this is overpriced but if you can find it under 110, if you like soap with some violet, rose and raspberry hues, then it's worth checking out. I have tons of soap fragrances so this will fit into my soapy clean genre nicely 👍. This also makes a good layering tool if you're into that. Scent 7/10 Performance 9/10 P. S. It's incredibly strong like most Nishane. One bottle will last you a lifetime 🧬

I like it, but won’t upgrade my sample to a full bottle becuase it’s not worth the price. It has all my favorite notes, but the end result smells like the Howard’s Purple Candies. That would be fine and dandy if this was in the price range of Loves Baby Soft. But this is in the niche price range. I’ll go order some of those Violet candies online now that this made me crave them though. This fragrance house in general has been good for me. Nanshe is my absolute fav and my new signature. Totally worth the full price. I’ll grab Muskane if I catch it on a good sale. The sillage is also a bit weak.

Soapy, smooth musk with a metallic vibe, I really enjoyed it at first, it grabbed my attention. However, after a few minutes it became heavily metallic and cloying on me. Similarly to the user below me, my wife also liked it, more so than the numerous other fragrances we sampled today. Projected strongly and lasted several hours on my skin.

Interesting mix for sure, a bit odd but in a good way. Guys can pull it off, if you want a more genderfluid unisex type frag. A bit synthetic for sure, but seems like good quality. I got it for 80 which is ok, and 160 seems like quite a stretch for me. Thats too much for this, but as a fragrance, pretty but not worth as much as they ask.

Nice clean fragrance, not what you'd expect from a Musk one. My wife liked it, saying I smell fresh and she is quite limited in which one she likes. A daytime fragrance for work or out. Could be a signature scent.

I was expecting so much from my very first (and eagerly awaited) experience with Nishane, especially as I like a good soapy scent. But this? This a citronella/musk disappointment. It’s just geraniol with musk - and it smells so synthetic. It starts with a bitter citrus and musk, then gets cloyingly sweet and tacky like a drug store scent. I’m surprised and disappointed. I’ll eventually explore the rest of the brand with an open mind, and I’ll note this one as being the unappealing fly in Nishane’s ointment.

It's a synthetic mess! I love the house of Nishane, have 15 bottles from this house! This one I sold shortly after purchasing! Definitely the worst from the house of Nishane!! Total disappointment!!

Smells soapy and powdery to my nose therefore do not like. Not my thing. Had to scrub it off within 15 minutes.

Old grandmother's lipstick smells. Or toilet spray ... I'm very disappointed... scary

It’s that soapy Musk, it smells like cheap floral soap. Not a fan. This one shouldn’t be more than $40. It doesn’t smell like quality Niche. Smells cheap. I’ll save my decant to spray a lil in my guest rooms towels and bedding. I wouldn’t wear this one. I have way too many much better quality fragrances and time is too short to waste on bad perfume.

Musk is definitely a hit and miss, it really depends on your skin chemistry. To me this isn't a total disappointment, which I was bracing myself after reviews. There is that mildly mosquito repellent citronella there, but I find it subtle and fresh, and the musk on me is nice. Posh soapy, bought in L'occitane type of soap, with the good oils. It just works, it's that nonchalant, not trying too hard kind of posh expensive smell. At least on my skin. That said, if I want to be nonchalantly fabulous, I will just have a good wash with one of my fancy soaps and mozy on outside with no perfume on. :D No effort necessary. BTW I get no violets, no raspberries, rose, all the notes besides the musk / citronella are suuuuper subtle. Perhaps that's the charm here...

Another fragrance focusing on the clean aspects of 'musk'. Being a lover of soapy & aldehydic fragrances (and hopefully the scourge of nauseatingly bad white musks) this is very much approved. Dove soap, hint of civet and a tartness reminiscent of red berries. That's pretty much it and not much else needed. Drydown consists of (way sweeter) almond and tonka, aswell as the warmth and thickness of blue lotus, but obviously this doesn't have any actual blue lotus. Could skip the drydown but lovely opening!

I ought to love this - some of my absolute favourite notes but literally all I can smell is chemicals. Together they smell exactly like dishwashing detergent- the old fashioned hand washing type. I really don’t know what is happening, the same goes for Florane- just nasty. It must be the molecules and my nose - incompatible. So try before you buy.

It's very lovely but totally overpriced. For an almost identical powdery soapy musk, one might as well get White Musk from Tesori D'Oriente which can be found for under 5 Euro.

Raspberry accord is pretty sour citrusy & metallic facet noted in prior review is I suspect conferred by a pretty big dose of habanolide macrocyclic musk.
