Nightcap

This has become a guilty pleasure of mine, and I find myself wearing this more than I would like to admit. Nightcap has a semi-sweet, fruity and boozey (boozie?) quality to it that I find strangely intoxicating and keeps drawing me back to it. Nightcap is the perfect name for this scent, to me it invokes images of sipping a good drink near a fireplace or being in a packed pub with a few close friends. I'm not kidding when I say it's almost like someone had spilled a surprisingly good smelling drink on you, I don't get so much of that woody dry down that others have mentioned, for me what I have to assume is the star anise, mandarin and juniper are prominent and along for the ride from start to finish - and I have no complaints about that. As other's have mentioned the projection isn't particularly strong, instead of jumping off your skin Nightcap leaves an inviting scent trail that really lingers in the air. Longevity also isn't much of an issue here, lasting a good 5-6 hours on my skin and even longer on clothing. For $9.99 per 100 ml you could leave bottles of this everywhere and spray it at will anyway. Nightcap is a fantastic, hidden gem of a cheapie. I highly recommend it to anyone considering picking it up. It was a pleasant surprise for me, and even if it's not for you we all can admit to spending 10$ on far worse things. Thanks for reading.

Totally blown away, the presentation is awesome, gold leaf penguin emblem on a elegant bottle design with a gold metal cap. Now the juice...Opens with fruit and anise, the dry down is also unique wood amber and the seaweed is there doing its job to knock down some of the sweetness associated with wood and amber. Has decent performance a little better than average, for the price this is a total gem!

Woo! Finally a page has been made for Nightcap! This is a great sweet/ambery/spicy type of fragrance. Think of CH Men without the leather or grass and you are 85% there! Sweet citrus opening with a spicy, smooth, woody dry down. Projection isn't that good but the longevity is pretty decent... :)

Nice spicy but not too pricey concoction from the penguin...It does have that Darkness about it with its spicy rich aromatics...Pretty pungent and strong early but ends after about the 5-Hour mark I give it a 7.2 for the smell and a 6.8 for the silage and Longevity well worth it

I like it, cheap and a really good fragance. I agree, it also reminds me CH Men, but does anyone perceive tamarindos scent in it or is it the sum?

Some fragrances remind me that you don't have to spend a bundle of money to smell good. This is a great example. No praise for ground breaking originality, but for $15 a bottle, this is a great value. Comforting spicy, woody, warm fragrance that can be worn by anyone at any time, day or night. Nightcap gets high marks for being versatile without coming across as tepid or cheap. I am buying this as a gift for my brother who isn't a fraghead and won't wear challenging scents. I can't see many people not responding positively to this one. Penguin has a good little line of fragrances. Inoffensive but not generic, inexpensive and well put-together. They are worth a look.

Wow! This is amazing! This is nice stuff! I got Nightcap for very cheap and I'm blown away by how good it smells! I thought maybe for 9.99 I would be getting some type of shaving cream old man scent or some body wash fragrance but hell no, not with this! I get alot of the star anise and a ton of the woods. It's sweet with the amber and it's airy with the juniper. I will definitely be checking out more from Original Penguin because I am totally pleased with this! Alot of American houses have been hitting the spot for me lately! I give this a 9.2/10

I got this as a gift and like it. The design is a 5/5. Scent is a 4/5.Value is great being under $30(5/5). Longevity is a 5/5 being 6 hours which is moderate. Overall it's a 4/5. B+ for this fragrance. This for me is a fall/winter nightime fragrance

Wow! Original Penguin is a fashion design company that I have never heard of.. I saw a review online of the original, was so impressed I bought a bottle that day.. Read about this one and picked this one up shortly after.. Nightcap is very impressive.. The minute I spray it I get a La Nuit De L’Homme vibe.. Although, it’s not an exact copy, it’s very close.. Then it dries down to this nice spicy amber feel.. This stuff is awesome.. I get moderate longevity about 5 hours.. Great for nights out, dates, and chilling near a fire in the cooler weather.. This is really good stuff! Rating 8.5/10 Highly recommended

Purchased from Savers UK out of curiosity and heard some good things about this unusual cheapie (£10 a pop) I don't get much warmth from it or many of the spices as some other people have pointed out, maybe there's some smoothness from the patchouli and sandalwood lurking in there but the dominant notes for me are the aniseed and the grapefruit which gives it a very sharp, heady, salty oceanic aroma which really isn't for me. It's like a sharp shower gel to my nose and any more sprays I think it would give me a headache.

I was really excited to find this at Ross for super cheap. I tried it on a card about a year ago and really liked it. The top notes sort of remind me of Silver Mountain Water in a way. A little sweet. I get lots of juniper and some citrus up top. Then it dries down to something almost like Midnight in Paris. Quite an interesting transition. The opening smells awesome, wish it lasted a little longer, but the drydown sticks around for a while.

Not a bad fragrance at all but unfortunately this will not be a favorite of mine or in my rotation. However, it was pleasant and I’m glad I got to experience this scent. This opens up with a fresh,,but also sugary sweet scent that’s very similar to CH Men but once this dries down the melon really comes out making this a fresh,fruity, sweet scent that will be like able but nothing that will catch anyones attention. Because of that freshness and sweetness from the melon this in the dry down smells very similar to First Instinct by Abercrombie and Fitch. I did like NightCap better ! Performance was what you would expect from a cheap scent as it lasts 3-5 hours hours and has soft projection but silage is decent. Overall rating —-6.5 out of 10 ! Pleasant but forgetful in my opinion but for the price you can’t complain

Wonderful smelling & inoffensive. Opening has juniper and anise. Nutmeg and patchouli adds to the scent's warmth after 30 minutes. Then the drydown with sandalwood and amber. On my skin it lasts approximately 4-6 hours on 2 sprays. Safe office scent - in fact it's a safe all around daytime scent. 7/10 for me.

A very very weak bath and body works noir copy- Slight smokiness but a skin scent and super weak for any money. pass! Prices are way to high on this-its a $10 fragrance The best penguin is reserve so far.

This stuff smells great ,nothing like ABer Crombies . Night Cap is a modern legend , scent wise I’d call it niche ! No joke ... If it lasted 3 more hours ...it would be right there 100$ for 30ml.

I was impressed by this one! Got it for $10.00 on Marshall's. Performance is moderate and scent profile is generic but it does its job. Good after a shower, I prefer this one over the original.

CH Men without the leather or grass and you are 85% there! I agree CLW.. although without those accords it simply falls short.. Not bad considering it’s at discounters.. got mine at Marshals
