La Jonquille

Obviously, La Jonquille's creative concept revolves around the daffodil, but it's worth clarifying a few points. Here, everything refers to Narcissus Jonquilla, which is also known as the “true jonquil”. There is another jonquil, which refers to freesias and is also known as river lily or wind lily, but this one is from the Iridaceae family. Experts explain that they are different flowers: the narcissus has one flower per stem, while the jonquil has a group of flowers per stem. The inspiration for the creation of this fragrance was the gardens of the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula during the summer, with their fields of yellow daffodils. La Jonquille Eau de Parfum combines notes of bergamot, tuberose, and ylang-ylang at the top; orange blossom, geranium, violet, and a solar accord, in the body; musk and cedar in the background. And just as happened with the L’Hysope fragrance, here they also did not use the ingredient to which the homage is paid, in this case, the narcissus. Its absolute can be obtained through solvents, and its olfactory profile is white floral, opulent, animalic, with green and even balsamic nuances. Therefore, this creation is an interpretation of the smell of this absolute translated into evolutionary facets. Once sprayed onto the skin, the La Jonquille fragrance opens with a discreet freshness, provided by bergamot. A big difference in this fragrance is the presence of narcotic flowers right at the top, which works very well – in this case – because the facets worked on in both notes were the greenest and most neutral, instead of the most carnal. Then, the body of the fragrance reveals a floral bouquet dominated by orange blossom and that solar accord. And, again, I have another compliment to give: when we read about solar accord, we immediately think of those fragrances with an exaggerated smell of sunscreen, with high doses of tuberose. But here, we have a more natural and floral scent. Finally, the slightly woody base makes La Jonquille a fragrance with a long-lasting and memorable presence. The combination of selected ingredients translates into a timeless perfume, perfect for both daytime moments and special nights. However, of the three fragrances in this Collection, this one is the most feminine of all, a characteristic that I wasn't pointing out in the others. The performance is excellent, featuring a light white floral for everyday use, which mixes current trends with classic touches. As a fan of tuberose and ylang-ylang myself, I can't be more impartial than that.
