Paloma Picasso EDP (Current Formula) I don’t know where to begin. 🤭 Well, I’ll start by sharing my olfactory experience with this new Paloma, and I say “new” because it differs notably from the original vintage formula from 1984.Here, I perceive less richness both in materials and in olfactory structure, especially in the animalic base. Paloma opens slightly green, citrusy, and floral (hyacinth, bergamot, and lemon). As is common in current reformulations, castoreum, civet, and oakmoss are absent; in their place, I detect a synthetic “civet” that briefly amplifies the floral bouquet in the opening. However, its intensity quickly diminishes and fades, giving way to a markedly powdery phase with a slightly ’80s air. At this point, a soft suede accord emerges, accompanied by a very faint honeyed sweetness. The base, dominated by synthetic/analog oakmoss and white musks, returns to that powdery character, though now with a slightly soapy nuance. On my skin, the drydown reveals a cleaner, more musky veil. And that’s it. It’s not bad, it’s a pretty fragrance that maintains the retro-Chypre structure, though with a cleaner approach, less animalic, and an overall more polished and linear feel. The vintage version, on the other hand, offers more complexity, more intensity, more expressive architecture. Its olfactory signature is unmistakable, evoking the luxury and boldness of the 1980s. The modern version of Paloma is accessible, less challenging, and in that process, it loses part of the “sensory journey” the original formula offers me. Still, a valid reinterpretation for the current era, but without the edge that once defined it.

My bottle of Paloma Picasso looks like the picture shown for "Mon Parfum" but smells like the other Paloma Picasso scent listed here. In looking at several websites, it appers the two scents are actually the same, but the bottle changed in there somewhere. I love Paloma because my mother used to wear it, and because it still smells completely unique. It's very warm, very animalic and musky, but you can smell the beautiful flowers in there, too. This is a great scent for winter, but needs to be applied with a careful hand for office or warm weather wear. It has monstrous sillage and can be overpowering. It also lasts for hours. You'll likely have to scrub it off if you don't want it to last an entire day. They just don't make scents like this anymore, but thank goodness they still make this one. A classic chypre that any fan of the category must try! I just read in Harper's Bazaar that Ms. Picasso still wears this one herself. Bravo!

I was originally overwhelmed/scared by the sandalwood and moss opening, but, once it settled on my skin it turned into this deep bouquet of flowers. The hyacinth, rose and jasmine almost make a lilac scent but darker. It's like roses and hyacinths blooming in a cemetery deep in the forest, lost to time. This is definitely a black dress type of scent, and I mean a velvet black dress in the fall. I find it kind of gothic actually. I am someone who dresses gothic and constantly in black, I love finding a scent that works with my personal aesthetic. Oh this one also LASTS all night too. Only a few sprays will do.

i have many bottles of Paloma, and only one EDP seems to lack the civet/castoreum notes. It smells ALMOST the same as Agent Provocateur. I wonder if it's actually a fake, or if there is a true difference between Mon Parfum and the "other" Paloma Picasso EDP/EDT. Update: I think batches from Parfums Paloma Picasso brand are distinct from all subsequent versions. Personal opinion based on my (amateur) nose and small collection. I have about 10 bottles & there's an obvious difference.

Only once have I found this bottle with no hint of civet or castoreum. I’ve bought several other bottles and been disappointed each time. Can anyone recommend a fragrance very similar? I just tried Scentmatchers for Christmas and it was nothing like Mon Parfum. My bottle opened with a blast of powder, but after that it was just this gorgeous, animalic-free composition. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

I never knew this is not the same parfum as Paloma Picasso, I always thought this one was the EDP, while the other EDT. The Parfum is by far my favorite. Paloma Picasso lacks some personality from this one. But I think this is too late now, very hard to find the Parfum.

The honey really comes through, very gorgeous. Different from the later edp and edt. I do think there's some civet/castoreum present. Gasoline notes, but in a good way. 10/10 Sampling from my mini bottle, a white/clear one.

Try Love Deluxe by Derek Lam if you love Mon Parfum but have trouble finding it. It's SO close to this. Other close relatives are Rose Cardin, Agent Provocateur, & Coriandre

Mama's perfume. Smells beautiful like money, fur coats, and diamonds. A unique smell for the classy lady. Very dominant and awesome.

My confusion about Mon Parfum and PP is complete. I found the black 30 and 50 ml flacons in several internet shops in my country, asked if they can make sure, it is the black flacon (they said it is the one), I asked about the code and ingredients list. I compared ingredients list on my very old box and a picture of the recent, that one kind lady sent me from one of those shops. They are not the same. So, is there a difference only in formula? I start to believe this black Paloma and the golden one is the same perfume. Why do they make two kind of flacons?:) Is there any long-term Paloma lover out here to share their experience? I have not ordered/smelled the recent black flacon juice yet.

I bought this today and it's evident that the re formulation is in this bottle, rather than the one with the clear insert. There is no oakmoss in the ingredients and when comparing this with my vintage sample this lacks some depth and richness. However, it is more 'wearable' perhaps and is still sexy and warm. This isn't an utter re formulation disaster and still smells 100% better than most modern scents. Try to get the version with the oakmoss if possible though. Next time I shall read the ingredients before paying!

The golden version of EDP smells wonderful, but it smells different than my old black bottle with tree moss (Evernia Furfuracea) and coumarin (tobacco sweet) listed in ingredients. The new version is a natural, woody crisp oakmoss beauty! In this black flacon, oakmoss is smoother, deep, feminine flowery sweet, luxurious. The perfect combination of temperament, style and good taste, intelligence end experience, and erotic.

This. Is. Gorgeous. Of course, I'm a little pissed that the print on the boxes makes it hard to know which perfume you're buying, as I was trying to buy the PP in the black and clear bottle. Oh well. This really is addictive though. I have Animale and like it, and yes, there are some similarities but MP is more smooth and leathery, while Animale is more tart rose.

The parfum was beautiful. It had less edge that the rather screechy 1980s and 1990s version of Paloma Picasso EDP. It was smoother and more floral. Mind you, I owned both and liked each for different reasons. The parfum used to come in a clear, round, dab on bottle. I would love to find parfum again, but I've learned my lesson when it comes to vintage.

I got this today in boots , i thought it was the clear bottle but to my delight i opened it and boom its the classic black bottle , im in my own kinda heaven, i love paloma picasso ,it does so much to my senses its like an explosion of smells it spins and dances in so many directions , oh so naughty but elegant aw im a happy girl ♥ it

Humbug. My husband hated this and I've had to return it to the shop. On further wearings, the lack of oakmoss really affected my enjoyment of the scent, it just isn't what it used to be...:(

It's a great perfume, reminds me of CK's secret obsession. This perfume is more suited to mature, sophisticated women.

My bottle is quite old. I found it in a thrift shop 15 years ago. It has been just sitting here ever since gathering dust. I sprayed once, wasn't impressed. Today I suddenly decided to test it before bed. Big mistake. Huge. This is not just chypre harsh, this is downright murderous. It could probably kill your houseplants if sprayed too close. Smells like a beaver who was a victim of an oil spill. Ungodly amount of oakmoss. I will never be cool enough for an old chypre.

Fragrance Review For Mon Parfum Paloma Picasso Top Notes: Hiacynth, ylang-ylang, bergamot, angelica, rose lemon Middle Notes: Mimosa, coriander, jasmine rose Base Notes: Honey, iris, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, musk oakmoss This is a flanker for the beloved Paloma Picasso but in no way does it resemble Paloma Picasso. This is a softer, sweeter, and more floral woodsy version of Paloma. I smelled more flower in this black bottle than in the vintage classic Paloma. This is a honey pot of flowers. The honey note really stood out and I smelled it throughout the entire performance of the fragrance. It's a sweet amber and honey combination which really sets it apart from other Palomas. Sweet and aromatic. The base notes in this fragrance are notes I look for and which usually provide the scent with a lot of oomph. This time around however there is less oomph and while the oak moss is there it's been subdued by honey. The patchouli too is otherwise more pronounced but it loses to honey. Thank God I can still smell that musk. The opening is citrus and fresh. The heart is floral with distinct flowery scents of rose iris and hyacinth. I could also make out the angelica. This is mainly a rose perfume the whole thing is built around two rose notes. The rose and iris give it a powder effect but it's not as powdery as other rose perfumes I've experienced. I can't really compare this fragrance to others but because of the rose and honey as well as the amber it sort of reminds me of Diva by Ungaro. This is sweet, floral and musky and wears like Paloma Picasso's kid sister who is already attempting to replace her and starting off slowly and gradually by wearing her clothes. I love the black bottle. This is a really nice perfume if you like honey, flowers and musk.

Just bought the 30ml EDP in Boots, the all black bottle, going at half price at £24.99 right now. It's gorgeous: the animalic is still discernible, it has the power, the warmth and spills spices on the skin, but still has subtlety. It reminds me a little of the vintage Lancome Magie Noire which was created six years earlier in 1978. However, it's streets ahead of the badly reformulated Magie Noire still on sale today (which I find is a sharp and metallic synthetic smelling scent compared to the lovely vintage Magie Noire I used to buy back in the early eighties). Mon Parfum has been reformulated, but some reviewers say it is as near as dammit to the original (I didn't try the original so I can't say, but it smells so good I am tempted to believe them). I say wear black with it for evening with lots of bling and spray it on furs, it's that kind of scent.

Went thrift store shopping and found a bottle looking exactly like the image above for cheap, very very cheap! It's a powdery, dry and woody fragrance that doesn't smell dated like many vintage do. No sweetness or obvious flowery smell found to my nose. In today fragrance taste, this would falls into the unisex leaning masculine spectrum. The smell is complex and natural. This can give many current offerings from the high end niche/luxury fragrance sector (you know the kind that ask for more than $200 a bottle) a run for their money! Edit: I have a chance to smell the original, in transparent bottle with black plastic cap/covering. The two smell rather similar but the original has a very strong animalic/dirty/salty undertone while this one is not very animalic & much more powdery. Personally I much prefer this one.

I've read so many scathing remarks about PP - & I have to agree that this definitely does have a sort of "toilet cleaner" vibe to it. Yet I like it a lot. It's another one of those scents where I cannot really separate individual notes, the only thing I can pick up on clearly is patchouli, & I don't detect honey on my skin or any powderiness.I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who's looking for honeyed florals - it's not a sweet "pretty" type of scent at all (certainly not by today's standards of what is deemed "sweet"). It's a dry green chypre (imo), which personally I crave & enjoy only in hot weather - but maybe I'm weird :) Edit: Mine is the all black bottle, & is not vintage.

Love it. My mom wore it a lot, I wore it a lot. Dry, sophisticated, classic chypre. 30 ml bottle is whole black. 100 ml bottle has black frames and transparent glass in the middle. I think 50 ml bottle is equal to 100 ml bottle (black frames, transparent glass in the middle). The expression "mon parfum" was used to advertising and in a few old bottles, and they are all the same perfume in EDP version. EDT version (transparent bottle with gold cap/lid) is different and the scent is less good, watery. Watch out! Go for EDP version.

Well, the same story here. I've ordered regular PP online and got this one. I have some tester from the original and Iove it but there was a note in it I consider interesting but stinky as well so I wouldn't go to the people very often in it. As I received this one, I think I'm gonna keep it. It's pretty good man! It's darker, more smoky and creamy and flowery than edp. I kinda love it I just need to get used to the fact I didn't receive my edp I was waiting for.

In the ads mon parfum is in white bottles. Not sure here. I have several mini white MP and several mini black ones and one big black bottle. Supposedly all vintage. I really like them all. Exotic and way ahead of their time. I get the moss and other notes. They are deep and lovely and above all blended into a super smooth concoction. Go vintage on this one. Big bottles are ridiculously priced but the minis are reasonable and you get the same stuff.

Yes there's a petrol note (possibly the Tree Moss pre-IFRA). But this is one incredible chypre. Very 80's. I just wish I had bought more back up bottles, as it's very hard to get these days. Get Mon Parfum if you can find it. All black bottle. The box will not say Mon Parfum. The still produced EDP doesn't come close.

At saturday I got this 30 ml bottle. But it ́s really the same, like the other "Paloma Picasso" (which ist listened here too)... It ́s strange... Why do they show for the same fragrance different frag.-notes? It doesn ́t matter, because I like it soooo much! On me it smells a little bit fruity and green.

Not an informational review, but a question on my part - is this version still available? I mean in BLACK GLASS, WITHOUT civet or castoreum? If so, then I want it:D I have and love Paloma EDT but I'd love a richer, softer and less animalic version... this one sounds just perfect!

To my nose this is definitely the softer, sweeter little sister of Paloma. From the very beginning the scent is "rounder" and more powdery where Paloma is in your face, quickly animalic. This is nice, but I'm much more the Paloma woman.

@ smellagent White bottle were round, made for the (pure) perfume when Mon Parfum (aka Paloma Picasso) had a full line from EDT to perfume and body cares. Actually black round bottles also existed, the "real" bottles without sprays.

Hello from Deco Dawn this is my review of Paloma Picasso 30ml edp 2017 version purchased in August 2017. Fabulous sexy fragrance. Unique very similiar to Sisley Soir de lune at a fraction of the cost. Try it you will love it.

80's chypre that will blow your drawers off. Happy to say it's still available and very affordable. I get the petrol note that others have commented on. Probably from the pre-reformulated ingredients.

Really nice, loud in the best way. on me it smells incredibly clean, warm, and almost unisex- a little like shaving cream but perfumy (if that's a word). i get no animalic notes at all.

Horrible horrible horrible. I stumbled across a sample. It smells so old fashioned and way too overbearing. Probably my gran would wear this, no offence :)

I just got Paloma Picasso and the bottle is black like this one! but it doesn't say "Mon Parfum" anywhere! very confused...
