Ambre Russe

An amber for people who don't care for ambers. Me! There are three reasons why Ambre Russe sticks out in my mind when recalling ambers of the last few decades that I believe are very good and quite unique. The first is the way this perfume opens, which I will get to in a second. The second is that it is indeed an amber, but the facets of amber that are hard for me to like after being worn out by them over many years, namely the sweet vanillic balsams, are not as thick and impenetrable as they are in most ambers. The third is the texture of the perfume, which Marc-Antoine Corticchiato achieves in that most lovely and classical of perfume styles of being very rich but with a swirling and airy quality that sits very lightly on your skin. The second and third points go hand-in-hand, and more on those later. So, first, what does it smell like. Parfum d'Empire and Corticchiato tell you right from the start they mean to do something different, and the opening is about as direct of a statement as you can receive to this intention. The mixture of rooty and potato-ey vodka, the effervescence of champagne's white grapes stripped of all sweetness, seed spices and red tea is... well... you're either going to love it or you're going to hate it. For me, it was instant love. It is intoxicating. Which, I suppose, is appropriate given how boozy it is. It's so boozy, funky, and dry that it comes across as downright rude; my eyebrows went up as soon as it went through my nostrils. Imagine talking to a wealthy, well-dressed, very charming and eloquent gentleman but something is off about him; his appearance and demeanor are alluring, but then he steps one foot closer to you, you get a big whiff of his large liquid lunch of clear liquor and you realize he's quite drunk. Now you're not sure whether to keep talking to him, or gracefully exit. He seems harmless, and even intriguing, but he's a loose cannon so your guard is up. Fortunately for those whose flight response is their modus operandi, this opening doesn't last that long, but I have to admit I wanted to keep smelling it for hours. It was beyond intriguing, maybe, partly, because it's also a bit off-putting. Unlike the hot breath of a drunk well-dressed Russian oligarch though, the opening is very smooth, suave, dry, and seamless... but to call it inviting would be a slight misstep. As I said, this (unfortunately) fades very quickly and goes immediately to an amber base. Far more familiar and comfortable than the opening, the amber hits all of the "correct" notes in the standard amber melody with a couple of very nice flourishes and a classical texture. There are plenty of typical balsams and the dose of sweetened vanilla, but - thank you very much, Mr. Corticchiato - he doesn't shy away from incense smoke. Ambers should have a smokey element to them, but not many do anymore. Ambre Russe makes sure it's there, but without clubbing you over the head with it, like you've just walked into an old church where they burn pounds of the stuff. Lurking a bit in the background of the amber is a touch of leather as well. It's a soft, well-worn and gentle leather, not a new, freshly-tanned, animalic leather. Later on in the dry down the incense is all that remains and takes the forefront, quietly and calmly leaving a cold and smokey trail of frankincense for you to follow. Top marks for the amber tweaking, but what I like about it the most is that texture: it manages to be rich, vanillic, slightly sweet, balsamic, earthy, animalic, smokey and a bit leathery, but never does it feel like it's crowding your olfactive center or sitting on your skin like spilled paint. This texture is so light that this could actually be an amber you could wear during the summer - shocking! 21st century perfume houses, take a lesson from Ambre Russe, please. Ambers can be light, airy, breathable, penetrable and swirling like a warm cloud, while also being rich. Quit giving us ambers that are like a massive fart in an elevator. I said at the beginning this is an amber for people who don't care for ambers. I'm being fatuous but I also think there is a valid point to be made along those lines. Why I find Ambre Russe to be great is that it does an exemplary job of bridging the modernity, novelty, and challenging aspects we hope to get from new age niche perfumery with the sensibilities, craftsmanship, and familiarity of classic styles. It's a different, fresh, and most welcome take on a very old genre that is expertly composed. Superb.

وااای از این عطر! معرکه هستش. بوی تاپ نوتش خیلی جالبه. شامپاین و ودکا. ولی تاپ نوتش 5 دقیقه بیشتر طول نمیکشه. نمیتونم این عطر رو توصیفش کنم؛ فقط آدم باید تستش کنه که متوجه بشه که کهربا در کنار نتهای الکلی که توسط یه برند معتبر فرموله شده؛ چه شاهکاری میتونه ایجاد کنه. این عطر بنظر من در گروه خوراکی قرار داره. واقعا طوری هستش که دوست داری موضعی که عطر زدین رو بخورین!! شیرینی این عطر شاهکاره. نه زیاده که دلو بزنه و نه اینکه شیرینی اش خیلی کم باشه. این عطر به هیچ عنوان تلخ نیست. حالت دودی در این عطر ملایم هست و کهربا بیشتر خودنمایی میکنه تا نت دودی نام گذاری این عطر بسیار هوشمندانه هست. Ambre که همان کهربا هستش در تمام مراحل عمر عطر عشوه گری میکنه. Russe هم که یعنی روسی و اشاره به تاریخچه ی ساخت عطر داره که این عطر رو مارک آنتونی برای شکوه و عظمت حکومت تزار روس طراحی کرده (شاید هم منظور از کلمه ی روسی در نام گذاری عطر؛ ودکای روسی بوده که در این عطر مشهوده) ا توضیح اضافه در زمان استفاده در فصل سرد سال: در ابتدای کار و تا 5 دقیقه بوی الکلی مشهودی داره و به محض از بین رفتن بوی تاپ نت عطر؛ عطر به مرحله نتهای میانی میره که بوی کلی عطر کهربایی هست که در واقع بستر کار رو تشکیل میده و در حالی هست که رگه های تلخی جزیی هم قابل رد یابیه و در کنارش بوی تیز ادویه ای لبه های تیزی رو در عطر ایجاد میکنه که در صد کوچکی از کل اثر بویایی رو در بازه زمانی نتهای میانی شامل میشه. با گذشت زمان و پس از حدود سه ربع؛ اون بوی تیز ولبه دار ادویه ای هم از بین میره و عطر به سمت کهربایی و الکلی متمایل میشه. به شخصه از بوی عطر در مرحله نتهای پایانی خیلی لذت میبرم و نت آغازین رو خیلی ضعیف میدونم که میتونه عامل منفی هم در خرید عطر برای افراد مبتدی که فقط عطر رو با بوییدن نتهای آغازینش میخرن باشه. نت میانی هم بنظرم اگه اون لبه های تیزی ادویه ای رو نداشت بهتر بود ----------------------------------------------------------- This is a wonderful perfume! I think that it is classified as gourmand, not Oriental spicy. If you like sweet perfume, you love this one. This perfume have a controlled sweet note, and isn't so sweet. Marc Antonie was designed this perfume and It evokes the splendor of the court of the last Tsar of Russia. At the First, Alcoholic scent is so dominant, but after 5 minute this scent was vanished and Amber was fade in. In this step spicy notes become detectable. Imagine an ocean of mild sweet notes that some boats is in this ocean that are bitter scent and the nose of these boats is spices... Ambre Russe is in this point of view in middle notes. Finally, base notes was come after about 50 minute. In this step, spices were gone and you can detect amber and alcoholic notes together. I think that top notes isn't good, so this character is a bad factor for buying this perfumes by beginners. But the best scent is coming after 50 minute...

I obtained my sample of Ambre Russe in a sample set of Parfum d'Empire's 13 fragrances which I ordered online for approx 22 euros (I can't recall the exact figure). They were delivered to me in Australia within a fortnight. Ambre Russe stands out as my favourite in the range so far. It also stands out in the long line of amber fragrances I've sampled over the past 6 weeks. I've tried L'Artisan's L'eau d'Ambre, Brecourt's Ambre Noir, Etro's Ambra, Juliette has a Gun's Calamity J., Lutens' Ambre Sultan and Anick Goutal's Ambre Fetiche. In terms of sillage, Ambre Russe, alongside L'eau d'Ambre and Calamity J, is unusual in that it has a lasting moderate sillage - in comparison to most of the amber frags I've tried, which seem on the whole to wear close to the skin after the first half-hour or so. But, whereas L'eau d'A's sillage is snuggly-powdery- vanilla, and CJ's is dominated by iris, AR's is like the fumes rising from a warm brandy balloon.... and it continues to project for hours. AR opens with a smokiness which is aromatic without the acrid dryness of Ambre Fetiche, and this smokiness soon fades to a soft, warm incense blending well with the spices to become one among several well-balanced facets of the fragrance. Hints of soft powderiness occasionally emerge through the moist, warmly comforting, boozy sweetness, and the resin/benzoin/labdanum lend depth in a satisfying counterpoint to the always gentle sweetness. I also find this counterpoint of subtle sweetness and resin in Ambre Sultan, which shares good longevity with AR but wears very close to the skin on me. The "booziness" of Ambre Russe doesn't dominate the other elements, but it is always there, even 2 days later on the sleeve of the woolly jumper I wore last time I tested it. For me, this presents a dilemma, I've fallen for Ambre Russe... but I fear that if I wear it to work my colleagues might start tactfully asking about my drinking habits. So, Ambre Russe will have to remain a weekend and evening fragrance for me - though my date might suspect me of being a secret tippler! :) Ambre Russe is likely to become a favourite winter-comfort fragrance for me.

I first sampled Ambre Russe a long time ago. I remember loving it from first sniff and I immediately got online to look for a bottle. Unfortunately, it had been pulled and I could not get one. I was so disappointed. Imagine my surprise getting on Lucky Scent and finding Ambre Russe in stock once more. I immediately bought a bottle but held out on buying more than one in case my "taste" had changed. I pulled it out of the box, put on 2 sprays and I'll go through my review based upon my testing. The Smell: On that first spritz, you get slammed with spices, booze, and leather. The amber is held back and the leather and spices are front and center. It hangs around for a long time until it hits the mid. Now we get the amber which is soft, not overpowering, and still intermingled with the spices and leather. The "abrasiveness" of the coriander has been significantly reduced. The drydown is that beautiful amber with some incense to finish. All of this said, the opening is SUPER harsh for some people. I remember when I first sprayed it after getting it out of the box, it hit me in the nose pretty hard. I second-guessed myself on if I really sprayed on Ambre Russe instead of something else. The drydown is worth it though. So worth it. 9/10 Price: $115 for 50 mL ($2.30 per mL). Not bad at all! 9/10 Strength: I'll put Ambre Russe at about an 8/10. It can hold it's own in the elements and sticks around for a while (especially on clothes). If you wear it in the heat, bump the rating up +1. 8/10 (9/10 in the heat) Versatility: Ambre Russe, in my opinion, is a night-time scent. If you're going out, this is highly recommended. It's also a cooler weather type of scent (fall/winter). Wearing it in warm weather is not recommended. It's potent enough without the heat helping. It's definitely worth a sample. If you're an amber lover, this one is a good addition for sure. If you like booziness, amber, and leather, say no more. This one will do it for sure.

You know once in awhile something like this comes along in the samples I order and just blows my socks off leaving me speechless. Wow. This fights my number one Amber fragrance, newest tom ford Amber absolute for the number one spot. This scent is not linear, it has different stages and all are phenomenal. I'm in love with this stuff. It's such a beautiful Amber that unfolds on the skin. It's not like Amber absolute, it's a boozy soft Amber. After the dry down I get a sweet tobacco leather base that comes through. It's not linear. It has great longevity and projection. On basenotes, it shows it as being feminine. No. If anything I find it to be more masculine but will agree to put it right down the middle as unisex. This is one of them fragrances where it is very very very pleasing to smell and you will catch yourself smelling your wrist over and over, a intoxicatingly pleasing aroma that's borderline addictive. Scent 9.5/10 Longevity 9/10 Projection 9/10 Quality 9/10 Originality 10/10 Overall 9.5/10 The price point is great for a 100ml right around $135 shipped so I am going to say this is a safe blind buy if you appreciate boozy and Amber accords. Very sexy. I would say this shines best in cool to cold weather. Great night on the town scent dressed up or dressed casually nice. Age 25-50 honestly very versatile for what it is. I find this scent gets better each time I reach for it. When I got it as a sample at first I wasn't sure about it bc I have TF Amber absolute on the "throne" and compare all ambers to that as its my #1 Amber of all time.

I like the idea of booz in perfume. Unfortunately most boozy scents I’ve tried haven’t lived up to the idea (Margiela’s Jazz Club for instance), but Ambre Russe does. It’s more whiskey or cognac than pure vodka (perhaps because of the underlying sweetness). I hate drinking booz but I love the smell of it (fresh from the glass, not from and old drunk’s breath)! After this sweet boozy experience a perfect amber develops on my skin. I sniff and sniff and sniff. It doesn’t need much more description because if you know what amber smells like you can imagine Ambre Russe. It’s very long lasting and 24 hours after spraying it I can still sense it and it haven’t turned dull or watered down or anything like that (it stayed on my cardigan for days after that as well). I think it is more interesting than many other ambers because of the booziness and the tea note that isn’t prominent but lends a library-ish quality to the whole composition. If you, like me, love amber to the point where you starting to find life sad and depressing if you can’t sniff some amber every now and then, you must try and will probably appreciate Ambre Russe. There is one issue and that is the name. I don’t think this is what Russia smell like. Russia smell like woods and frost, birch trees and berries. I would say juniper is the most Russian note. But this of course has nothing to do with the scent in itself. You can just close your eyes and call it whatever you want, it’s still a very very good fragrance.

With the advent of the winter season, my heart and nose crave for a full-bodied perfume that would be capable of filling my nostrils with joy and excitement, so scarce in the bleak days of winter. Since I am a self-confessed amber fanatic, I ́ve decided to sample several scents containing this note. And thus I ́ve discovered “Ambre Russe” from Parfum d ́Empire. “Ambre Russe” represents an olfactory impression of Tsarist Russia, with all its glory and demise. To me, a romanticised (and clichéd!) image of Russia includes a snow-covered land, with a troika passing through it swiftly, with its passengers who can ́t wait to drink hot, sweet tea from a samovar or a glass of (omnipresent) vodka. Although “Ambre Russe” might not evoke all of these images, it does offer us a phantasmagorical peek into the opulence of aristocratic palaces as well as the imperial court. It ́s presented as “boozy amber”, which is actually the most appropriate way of describing it. The booziness is predominant in the head, whereas in the heart the honeyed sweetness of tea and amber gradually take over the reins. The base of the fragrance features incense and musk, which bring out its sexy, if not animalic, character. I must admit I was smitten by “Ambre Russe” the moment I smelled it for the first time. It ́s an extroverted, long-lasting and immensely satisfying perfume. It ́s perfect for those who, during freezing winters, find solace in their fragrance. Kudos, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato!

I'd heard Parfum d'Empire Ambre Russe hyped pretty thoroughly and as a growing fan of amber-dominant scents, it's easier to be skeptical when the bar is set so high, but Ambre Russe lives up to the hype and more, being a slightly unconventional amber that nevertheless hits on a lot of great spots. An unorthodox but seemingly thorough note lineup of vodka, champagne, leather, incense, cumin, coriander, vanilla, and ambergris, with the ambergris providing the name. The most dominant accords are the sweet liquor and vanilla combined with incense and leather, fostering a sweet, boozy, dark, smoky concoction that's quite pleasant while not being too sweet. It's important to note that the ambergris doesn't provide the full amber experience (of a creamy, gourmand-like amber) but rather the animalic side of the substance. And the coriander and cumin combine to yield an animalic spiciness of their own, though all of animalic and spicy sides to the fragrance are subservient to the sweet and boozy. Performance is quite good, with excellent longevity and well above average projection for hours for a niche EDP, and at $145 for 100ml (seemingly only available via Luckyscent in the US), it's worthwhile in my book and one that is surely on my list of future acquisitions, perhaps for the coming autumn. It's not quite as exceptional as my very favorite amber-dominant fragrances, Tom Ford Amber Absolute and Dior Mitzah, but it's right up there in the next tier down. 8 out of 10

The moment I came across this fragrance I was immediately puzzled by it's name, Ambre Russe, because convention dictates that ambers are definite orientals, and often named as such (e.g. Ambre Sultan, Ambre Nargile etc). So why not follow the same trend? The simple answer is the vodka top note, but knowing how meticulous Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the spice master, is with his offerings, I have come to believe that Ambre Russe is his attempt to distance himself from the typical oriental amber facets and to create a deceptively 'western' amber fragrance. What I mostly get here is a boozy top note, flowing into spiced bread territory, into a warm and rich pipe tobacco, rather than powdery vanilla or benzoin typical to the genre. There is a suggestion of a leathery labdanum perhaps, and a definite coumarin/tonka aspect, a touch of vanila, but instead of that doughy caramel amber, you get a dominant dry spicy woody core here no vanilla pudding in sight. The opening is undoubtedly very boozy, but I would say that a few minutes in, more of a dark rum/rum-soaked raisin feel lingers behind, more so than a sharp alcoholic character. Every facet feels perfectly dialed in, expansive, radiant. By far my favorite 'amber' so far, but honestly I wear it as I would a warm spice or tobacco fragrance. The ideal winter fragrance for me, something I actually consistently find myself craving right between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

This is just what i needed. A cold weather, winter warmer. Good tobacco by a fireplace, high quality, oakey-vannilic booze, and something vaguely medicinal for a moment. Well worn leather chairs, polished woods, and an old book. Tea, and wild honey, exotic spices. Its easy to feel a sense of warm, sultry air gently moving, and forget the cold, embrace the warm, silken, amber arua that beckons. This scent wears extremely well on my skin, which suprises me, because i normally do not care for amber. My warm chemistry made sweet love to this gorgeous perfume and an inexplicable, implacable, spine tingling sensuality was the result, and i am hoplessly addicted. This is the kind of fragrance that has the effect of a narcotic haze, as it is too much, and not enough. Ambre russie is an indulgence in the extreme, and sweet to excess. It is sinful, and decadent, hedonistically luxurious. I am afraid to smell this on a man.. It will be my ruin. I tried layering this over an old application of encens flamboyant=wow. If you like a little exciting masculine, i dare you. update, it is too heavy for summer, unless you just give in to the too hot days and lay around in a golden haze.. next to try giving it a little more woods with some iso e super... what a great scent. The first thing you smell when you spray Ambre Russe is vodka, and it is strong. But it burns off within just a few breaths, leaving a tangy tea and leather combination of notes that feature a musky, slightly floral blueberry type aroma and an acidic burst of lemon. These must be facets of the smoky black tea leaves note, and all that tangy tea goodness pairs with a well worn boot leather accord to make a surprisingly peppy and intriguing yet smooth perfume. These notes are accented by pine and clove that together feel a little like salty licorice to me. It’s not a strong element, there’s just the edge of it, but adding it into this perfume is an unexpected little thrill of unique beauty. All these notes float over a balsamic amber base, but honestly the amber is not the biggest part of this. The tea and leather are. As the fragrance dries down the aromatics become more traditional and green, but no less beautiful. The far dry down features citrusy green aromatics on an a powdery amber base. This is an absolutely unique amber fragrance, the combination of all the aromatic ingredients, with earthy leather and balsamic amber gives such a different and interesting perspective on amber. I absolutely love this. It lasts about 8 hours on skin.

First off, for the folks who complain this smells like vodka. People, what does vodka smell like? Stick your nose in a vodka bottle and take a deep sniff. Nothing. Vodka is a neutral spirit, unlike whiskey or gin. Other than the alcohol itself, vodka has no odor. So, that said, hot out of the bottle, this perfume packs a punch. There is a lot going on in those first 15 minutes or so. It's complex (and strong!) enough that I can't easily describe individual notes. Something in there reminds me of dry white wine and tannins. It’s a little acrid even. After those first few minutes, it settles into something very nice! To me, it's as much tea and leather as amber for the first hour or two. Although it's not listed as a note, I get tobacco, like an old humidor that has been used to hold fine quality cigars. Well balanced and enjoyable. After that, for the duration, it's the nicest, smoothest, glowing warm amber you can imagine. This is very long lasting scent that wraps around you like a favorite cashmere sweater. I predict a long long love affair between me and this perfume.

I ́ve been waiting for the right opportunity to put this fragrance to a test. The weather was very hot and dry during the past few weeks (if not months, actually), so I opted for different perfumes. However, today is the day. On a colder, rainy, autumn-like september day, this fragrance really shines through. It ́s slightly boozy in the vein of Khamrah by Lattafa or Angel ́s Share by Killian (not saying Ambre Russe is similar to them, though) and I get lots of cinnamon and wood in the drydown, smells like cabin in the woods. It ́s very pleasant, intense experience. The tea, juniper and leather notes make this fragrance really stand out from the previously mentioned perfumes. Ambre Russe is very longlasting and potent, even the newer version. On my skin, it easily persists after shower. Its sweetness, though a very soft one, makes it, in my opnion, not really a masculine nor feminine leaning, I see it as rather unisex. Highly recommended for autumn&winter. In summer this can definitely be suffocating and kind of out of place. Beautiful, elegant, yet comforting fragrance.

Today I received new samples to try and this scent just stole my heart! This is the whole atmosphere in one bottle. Not just a scent, but a mood that it gives to you. You feel like you've been taken away to a different country in different era. Imagine dancing in a huge hall all night in a long classic dress in a different century. And it's cold outside and snowing, but you feel magic in the air and music keeps playing and you feel like you're up to a new adventure. This is Ambre Russe to me :) First notes are strong, it's a mix of vodka, champagne and a little bit of birch, but as the scent develops it becomes sweeter and warmer, with a lot of amber, tea, church incense and cinnamon notes. Later you start noticing leather notes and just a little bit of juniper. It's unusual and very "full" long lasting scent with moderate sillage. I would not wear it on daily basis, but for special occasions it would be perfect. PS. I'm going to put it on my wrist before going to bed so that I might feel this atmosphere again in my dreams :)

With this Empire's creation you have an amber interpretation that is complex, unique, with a necessary oriental feel. It begins with boozy, alcoholic smell with maybe a drop of sparkling wine. Soon after it smoothly becomes spicy with cinnamon and tea heart. Getting closer to the drydown it adds incense and, in the drydown itself, a lovely leather note. All of that blanketed with a honeyed amber accord. It's incredible how you can feel the amber note all the time, in few different fashions, and yet all of them are magnificent, no matter if boozy, spicy or leathery. That way you won't be disappointed with a single point in a fragrance pyramid of Ambre Russe. Like all Parfum d'Empire's scents I had the pleasure to try, this one is projecting well and lasts for a long time. Also, considering its quality, it's quite cheap. A bit heavy for summer, more suitable for winter time and in night. This is a divine fragrance, a true leader among the Empire's products. 9.5/10

I am an amber lover and this is in my top three ambers of all time! I liked it the first moment I sampled it. That like quickly turned to love. Love is now becoming addiction. This one has really become something that I crave. It begins as a smoked black tea with a shot of vodka on the side. The vodka dies down and a little leather joins in with the smokey tea. Then spices begin to show up. Some cinnamon, a bit of coriander and a dash of cumin. Now the amber shows up to the party. Wow, what a powerful animal this amber is too! Full bodied, rich and deep. It goes on forever! About 8 to 10 hours later the sweet vanilla begins, mixing with the amber. This continues to the next day. I can even smell it on sweaters days later! So overall fragrance 10/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 9/10 ( gets loads of compliments without suffocating) A must-have for amber lovers. My go-to fall/winter perfume.

The opening is like putting your nose into a shot glass of vodka, gosh, what a crazy verisimilitude. Champagne is here, too. This is the booziest opening ever, it's so strong that my eyes start to water, although I'm partly Russian myself ;) However, this perfume is not about it. It's about slightly smoky and leathery warm amber with a hint of tea and cinnamon (the sweet tea note reminds me of the Russian tradition to drink steaming hot tea with lots of sugar). I also get some aromatic vibe (juniper?), church incense (not too much of it), powdery leather, birch, and something slightly vanillic. Overall this is a superb perfume, opulent and expressive. I would say it's a bit too "dressy" and classic smelling for my likes, which makes it a great choice for those who are looking for a complex, grown up amber. The longevity is excellent. This is a must try for all amber lovers.

A perfume I would love to buy (or get for xmas this year!). I loved the smell the moment I put it on my wrist, maybe because I was used to Ambre Sultan (Serge Lutens). However, this perfume is more sweet instead of the herbal amber of Ambre Sultan. I can happily fantasize being on the Orient Express with this scent! What I thought was pretty funny is that my boyfriend and friends did not like the fragrance when I first sprayed it, but after 10-15min they would smell it again and tell me what wonderful perfume it is! I tried it once and some weeks later a second time, and the same thing happened :) Luckily for me, the boozy top notes dry off quick and leave a warm amber fragrance behind. It has a wonderful sillage. I keep on contently smelling my wrists for hours and hours after!

During my first 3 weeks since receiving this bottle. I wasn't so sure about it at all. Since all the scent I had smelled was nothing but liquor which even came to the point of 'Chinese herbal booze and I was so hesitated whether I should keep it or not. Fast forward to this week. When I gave it another try (which I did all the time, I sprayed this juice either alone or layering with another perfume for more than 20 times) turned out it is sooooooo better today. Less boozy scent more of the sweetness that had hit my nose and now I'm in love with it. Can't stop sniffing myself Conclusion: for anybody who might have a similar experience like me, please give it another try after a while. You might ending up like it just like me.

Ambre Russe opens with a short blast of vodka and sweet champagne, which is very short lived on me. I then smell a familiar Russian Coriander very similar to the opening of Dior Patchouli Imperial but slightly toned down. Next in line I pick up on the tea w/cinnamon, incense, and of course amber slowly making its appearance more known as the hours pass and very slowly trading places with the dominating Coriander heart, and becoming a very desirable skin scent. The projection is soft to moderate for the first 3-4 hours then wearing very close afterwards. The longevity is very good lasting at least 8 hours in an indoor setting. The Amber Gods have delivered yet another favorite!

A pleasant fragrance but its not exciting (on me anyway!). Yes, I briefly smelt the alcoholic drinks and then the amber, incense and coriander. After an hour the suede becomes much more obvious along with the tea and incense as they take over the show. The sillage is moderate but the longevity is impressive. Im glad I tested it but I wouldnt bother with an fb. I tested this again and what happened it completely changed into a new fragrance. This time its a big dose of delicious amber, a swig of alcohol and incense. Only the development is the same as before. I think everyone must test a fragrance at least twice to have a chance of writing a reasonably accurate review.

Mmmm, a good amber, which, like any good amber, makes me long for the cool air of October. To me it smells like Ambra Aurea, so I'm testing them side by side. Results: Aurea is darker and more mysterious, with a bittersweetness something like that of molasses. Russe is warmer and friendlier, with more of a browned-sugar sweetness and a hint of quality leather, like Cuir Ottoman (which I adore) from the same house. I feel like Russe is thus more wearable on a more regular basis, but Aurea is still intriguing and would be right for an edgier vibe, and in any case they are both in the same family of scent and the difference here is a matter of small degrees.

I AM IN LOVE,....i keep on asking myself, why didn't i knew this brand and perfumer before!? Oh Well,...now i DO :-) and i am so so happy that i do. The owner from my favorite Berlin niche shop whom i asked to give me his best shot of Amber, he (finally and) totally nailed it. (After trying a couple of others before that were nice.... but nice is not enough...grin.) and than he showed me this one and said, i am not sure...this series is quite "explosive" and that was EXACTLY what i longed for. I end up buying 3 scents from Parfum D'empire, at once. This is what perfume is all about. Marc-Antoine-Corticchiato, your my new hero.

This is one of the best amber fragrances on the market for me. Boozy in the opening, but in a way I haven't encountered before. It has a distinct tart / sweet edge to the boozy notes followed by ambery, resinous, slightly vanillic & spicy facets. As others have mentioned, the blending here is the real star of the show. Nothing sticks out, beautifully smooth. The fact you can buy this for $100 on discounters is incredible as it easily stands up to MFK Grand Soir, MPEG Ambre Prexcieux, PR Ambra Aurea, and the other "GOAT" amber scents. I highly recommend sampling the entire Parfum d'Empire brand!

I gave this away because I stopped wearing it. Now I miss Ambre Russe. Yes, it’s boozy, starts off like actual alcohol for the initial phase. I liked that. But was also glad it departed so I didn’t smell like an alcoholic. So it’s a fun phase while it lasts. It dries down into a more mellow vanillic leathery amber. Some herbal aspects but mostly a recognizable amber accord. Definitely unisex, some might say masculine. I might have to buy it again. I miss the tall thin bottle in my hand. Parfum d’Empire is a nice brand. Musc Tonkin is also amazing. Very memorable, yet wearable fragrances.

My god, massive thank you to Vickalena for including this scent in the sample bundle she swapped with me. I love this so much, and am so glad I got to sample it. This is a really striking scent. It commands attention. The first spray is nearly unbearably boozy. It smells like a sleazy night out with some unsavoury types. Glorious. It mellows to something still boozy, but bitter and softer too. It's serious and has an undercurrent of violence; it's almost threatening. ...Ugh, this is so classy I want to drown in it. Luxury in a bottle.

My oh my, what an incredible, regal amber! A slightly tart champagne in the opening few minutes, and then smoky tea and tobacco join in, with a flick of cinnamon and incense on top of the most gorgeous amber drydown I've ever smelled. Not for everyday wear I admit, but when I crave it nothing else comes close--it's the most complex and glorious amber I've worn. And 12 hours later, after the party, the feast, and the dancing, I wake up to a gentle whisper of sweet amber still on my wrist reminding me what a wonderful evening it was.

As usual, Fragrantica mistakes ambergris for amber, two very different beasts, and then people feels in the obligation to explain that this is not "a conventional amber" or smell an inexistent yellow amber because the notes list says so. This is a gorgeous white booze, leathery fragrance. If I squint the eyes (nostrils?) I can feel incense, maybe tea... spices also. I haven't tested it in hot weather, maybe it's a little too heavy for that. Perfect for any other occasion. Not sure how old is my decant, but performance is fine.

Today my bottle of Ambre russe arrived and I have to tell you I am beyond thrilled! What a spectacular and heady amber fragrance. For years I have been looking (since ambre orient Armani Privé) for a satisfying amber scent made from natural ingredients and Ambre Russe is the answer to my prayers. I am completely mesmerized by its beauty and depth. Not only does it last for hours on my skin but it developes like a fairytale evolving and revealing its sensual and captivating structure. Amber lovers, this is the holy grail;-)

First impression: a very interesting and wearable niche. The opening and heart I get the vodka and champagne clearly layered over the amber. The tea pokes it's head out just a bit to let you know it's there, and the amber is persistent and a touch animalic. I can see why this has received high praise in the community. It takes a familiar genre and really shakes it up in a great way. Seriously thinking of stocking this one up. I still remember TF's Amber Absolute from years ago, and I still would have been wearing it if it had not been discontinued but Ambre Russe tops even that beauty. Fortunately, vodka and champagne does not smell like I will go up in flames anytime on me -just smooth, warm and wise amber, incense, juniper, leather and a dash of cinnamon. It makes me want to lock myself up in Sainte-Geneviève or Strahov Library and read everything I am interested in until the day I die.

Amber it's one of my favourite notes. I like it for its exotism and warmness. Ambre Russe it's for me a ''boozy amber'' fragrance. It's deep, evocatice and opulent. Very suitable for cold weather and nights. IMO it's rather masculine that unisex due to smoky character. Sincerely, my favourite amber fragrance until now. This was love at first sniff for me. A sumptuous, enveloping boozy and resinous Russian leather, and you not only can smell the booze notes in this right on top but you can separate the vodka note and the champagne note. This reminds me of some other really nice leather fragrances (like HdP's 1742 minus the immortelle but with the boozy notes added), but it's also very much its own thing. Very much full-bottle worthy, and very reasonably priced for what you're getting.

I was buying a piece of chocolate from a bodega and the woman behind the counter told me I smelled like “an actual angel from the heavens”. I don’t wear perfume for compliments (I only seek to scent my own life), but I can’t help but clock when it happens. I was wearing Ambre Russe by Parfums d’Empire, which, funnily enough, has a notable vodka note, along with champagne, vanilla, leather, incense and spices. Maybe more like a fallen angel, then.

This is almost annoyingly good. It's exactly what you'd expect from a fragrance being called Russian Amber in french. Boozy, with a very strong vodka smell on my skin, sweet and spicy. After a bit the vodka is just gone, leaving an ambery and slightly spicy fragrance. It's excellent and honestly perfectly created. I think it's so good that some people might find it boring. That perfumer doesn't miss when it comes to warmer fragrances.

These boozy scents are wonderful but half the village thinks I'm an alcoholic. This treasure, and 1697, and Speakeasy, are enough to get you breath-tested if Police come to your window after a traffic stop. I do love the notes, but honestly people expect me to be sloshed! Also, you can't wear them to work :)) I do love Ambre Russe, it was love at first sniff. It's mighty persistent so not much needed x

Officially the best amber fragrance I’ve ever encountered. It is incredibly unique, the champagne note is a standout! Never overpowering, but perfectly blended into the background of this masterpiece. The combination of smoky amber, tea, and cinnamon is simply intoxicating. Truly unisex, classy, and worthy of any date night or special occasion. A must have for a mature collection. 9.5/10

Received a sample of this from a lovely fragrantican and WOW this MY KIND OF AMBER!!! It is rich, a bit boozy and classy. On my skin I get the clean yet dirty amber, incense, top shelf champagne, cinnamon, tea, leather and something quite sweet almost floral (maybe the booze??). Anyway, I'm saving to add a FB to my wardrobe as this is simply divine. It might find a spot on my Fave 5. :-)

A seductive, odd take on amber. The vodka note is prominent up top. Not sure how to describe what vodka smells like except that it's like slightly spicy rubbing alcohol. It cuts the sweetness of the amber accord nicely and leaves you with a great colder weather, night out scent. A bit powdery but unisex. 5-7 hours on my skin. A solid 8/10 for me. Worth looking for a decant of.

It's a very rich scent. One of the highest quality amber fragrances I have ever smelled. a scent that should come from a knowledgeable, mature person. Imagine sipping a fine drink by the fireplace on a cold winter night. This should be the scent in that environment. If I had to describe the perfume briefly: warm, mysterious, distant and deep. An absolute masterpiece.

This is an excellent unique take on amber. It's bright enough with the champagne, vodka, juniper, and tea to be be worn in spring and summer in moderation. It's warm enough for cinnamon and amber.The leather, birch and incense take the egde off of the richness of the amber. Its smooth and well blended. Great performing compliment monster. Top tier fragrance.

I tested it on a vial before I bought a full bottle. To my nose this is a dry amber, started off with something fizzy & quickly dried down to a cinnamon & coriander bomb, with a hint of tobacco The sillage it leaves is amazing with great longevity. This house really have something great to offer huh? Really really underrated imo.

I get the alcohol note then a beautiful Amber, there's a lovely skanky note in this which I thought was patch but it's not listed. The birch wood and incense show up too giving a leathery tone and contribute to a fantastic scent, this is unisex to my nose either sex could pull this off its gorgeous.

Incredible. It's like two worlds constantly colliding - spicy animalic leather fighting with fresh tea and coriander, yet they remain in balance throughout. At the beginning I smell kind of blackberry note a la Amouage Jubilation. Smells oldschool, definitely for mature crowd, but 10/10 nonetheless
