Vibrant Vetiver Delight

I haven't smelled Bal d'afrique and I blind bought this after watching a review on YouTube saying this is identical. I'm sensitive when it comes to citrus heavy fragrances, they all smell like toilet cleaners to me. This is not an exception unfortunately... I almost only get citrus.... Update: I have now tried the OG and I stand on my opinion ALTHOUGH this one has actually matured to a better scent than the initial spray. It might not but be a huge difference between this and the OG, but it's that little difference of earthy vetiver that makes the fragrance come together so good in the OG. But for the price different I'm not actually sure the difference is that deep tbh... I actually layered this with Montblanc Signature and found it to be even better than Bal d'afrique. It's creamier and perfect balance between sweet and citrusy fresh.

Just recently got this, and its my new favorite warm weather fragrance. Bought it because people claimed it was “sprite” in a fragrance. It’s the most beautiful Citrus, Juicy Sweet and a tad bit creamy. Lemon Lime goodness!!!! As for accords It starts out very Lemon/Limey almost Gourmand. I see where the sprite comparisons come from. Then there’s this sweetness and refreshing feeling to it. Lastly I get this beautiful green smell too. Im kind of glad I get no woods because this is very light and refreshing to my nose. I wore this 3 days in a row when I first got it, couldn’t stop smelling it. And immediately got compliments. Performance is meh, normal for a freshie. Projection 8/10 Longevity 7/10 for a Freshie Price 10/10 Smell 9/10 Overall 8.5/10

This is prob the only citrus style fragrance I spray. Idk how to describe it but the citrus is a beautiful soft sweet type of smell. This scent makes me wanna smell what the OG bal d Afrique smells like. I usually spray this whenever I’m at home in the morning, it is such a nice calming soothing smell you need to try it out. One of the only fragrances that my family compliments me on whenever I wear a fragrance. My mom loved it so much she kept bugging me for a bottle of it ahaha it’s a lovely scent that I think would appeal to most people regardless whether you like citrus or not. It smells like a sweet lemon sprite 🍋. 10/10 scent 8/10 longevity 6/10 Sillage

This is the perfect summer fragrance. Nice citrusy tart opening, and a drydown of pleasant sweet fruit scent. It's like the citrus fruit ripens on you as you are wearing it. Criminally underrated in my opinion. I have 2 other scents i consider to be summer fragrances -- Maison Alhambra Delilah (dupe of PDM Delina) and Paris Corner Just Bergamot (dupe of Le Labo Bergamote), and I much prefer this over those two. I can't say much about how close this is to Byredo Bal d'Afrique as I have yet to try that. A solid 10/10. Safe blind buy. I'd horde this if my supplier restocks!

Very very close to Bal d'afrique .. the citrus note is a bit different.. it's a bit more tart In Bal d'afrique and in VV it's a touch more soapy. But this is comparing them side by side. Most people would be very happy with this one if they like Bal d'afrique and don't like the price.. they're both beautiful and aromatic. If people can't smell the vetiver in here I don't know what to say but your nose isn't working as the soapy vetiver is very prominent. Let your bottle "marinate" after you spray it a few times as with all Arab frags they improve dramatically.

Just got this the other day - so hasn't matured. Didn't smell like anything in the opening the first day, except a faint, aromatic memory of Bal d'Afrique. Now, it has developed a citrusy punch in the opening, which i really like. This is Bal d'Afrique, but better, in my opinion, because of the citrusy blast this one has, which tends to remain scent-wise for a while, not dissipating quickly. Very nice, eyecatching bottle with a nice feel to it and beautiful atomizer. Average performer for now, will update on performance when it has stood the test of time.

While looking for a dupe that performs better than Byredo's Bal on my skin, I came across Vetiver Delight. It does indeed last longer, not beastly by any measure, and comes off sweeter than Bal. There is no substantial Vetiver to my nose but it captures the other notes, and for the price point, that's just fine. I've had this for 8 months and it's sweetened just a touch over time. It is a weekend comfort scent for me, I have no regrets and I'd definitely purchase again or for a gift. Of the samples I decant for friends, this DNA is by far a favorite.

I first bought this perfume about 8 months ago when the weather was much warmer and at first I did not like it all --- I was picking up an olive oil scent that I just did not like, but there was something about the scent that make me not throw it away! Well, perhaps because it sat for awhile or because the weather is cooler, but I am really loving this as my gym scent this winter-- it is fresh but not too citrusy and the woody vetiver makes me feel energized at 5:00 a.m. for my morning workout! :)

The opening is like the taste of Sprite or SevenUp, zesty fresh lemon soda. The drydown is soft and balmy, reminds me of the aloe vera soap I bought from the Canary islands. Very pleasant. I tested Vibrant Vetiver Delight during my workday and I smelled the soft, green fragrance all day. This is a more wearable version of Byredo's Bal D'Afrique, which triggered my asthma and was too loud for me. This scent is unisex without leaning towards any gender. Another positive surprise from the Emirates.

I have both this and Bal D’afrique. This is better in my opinion! As one reviewer stated, it seems smoother. The longevity is way better than the original. It’s such a lovely scent! It’s such a classy “freshie” and I love that! I did have to give it a few months to really mature, and tried it yesterday and it is so pretty now! Just in time for summer! I’ll probably layer them both together!

This is one of the safest, mass pleasing vetivers I’ve ever encountered. Nice clean soapy vetiver with a beautiful citrus twist. Ross (TLTG) perfectly describes it as Sprite in a bottle. Perfect daily wear and true year round fragrance. Not sure how it compares to Bal d’Afrique but as a standalone- this is near the top of my list and a top 3 vetiver in my collection.

What a beautiful fragrance. I haven't smelled the Byredo, but I can tell you this is WONDERFUL. I can describe it as a citrusy soap. It smells clean if that makes any sense. Performance is good, but when you wear a fragrance like this, just chill and enjoy the vibe. Imagine wearing this in Amalfi, would you care about the performance? Just spray and vibe.

Purchased my second bottle recently.This is the best dupe for BDA out there and that's saying a lot coz I've tried plenty. The only thing missing really is that it doesn't have the creamy facet that the OG does. In the air, it smells close. I don't even use my bottle of the OG anymore coz this works so well and actually performs better.

This was in a random library bathroom being used as an air spray like febreeze. I was feeling nosey and sprayed some on and immediately went home and bought it off eBay lol. This smells good in a foresty kind of way, but also sweet. I'm excited for it to get here as it's been a couple of weeks since the random-chance bathroom encounter.

My signature intimate fragrance. Not only do I love it on myself, but people who get really close to me, all say I smell fantastic. It's a frag that's hard to describe, as it's big brother Bal D'Afrique, but it's absolutely phenomenal. This little dupe smells better, and is located at the correct price point. Love it.

Very nice, similar to Bal d'afrique but whereas BdA is creamy this is more clean/soapy. Very bright, fresh and clean. Performance on me is phenomenal. 12 plus hours, I did 2 sprays to the chest and it was too cloying, now I do 1 to the chest and 2 partial sprays behind the ears.

This really smells great! It’s like opening a fresh can of cold, lemon-lime soda (sprite,7-Up, etc)! It’s a great all year round fragrance, but it will really shine in the summer. Bottom-line, this is an easy grab and go, mass appealing fragrance. Highly recommended! 9/10

I bought it a few weeks ago and today was THE day to spray it on. It's really hot here, over 30 C and this is pure delight. Fresh, citrusy lemon and woody notes, projection pretty good, longevity so far not as bad as I feared. I'm so happy I bought it :-)

Had family over and I sprayed this on one arm and Bal D'Afrique Hair Perfume on the other. I asked around which one they prefer and they unanimously picked this one! Making a big dent on my bottle now. Will most likely repurchase sooner than expected.

It's really similar to Bal d'Afrique, but I can spot differences. I hear more citrus notes. Also, Vibrant vetiver has less of the powder that the violet in the original had. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful perfume.

They had to have pulled some influence from the long gone viaggio d'africa by pal zileri! This is fantastic! Great dumb grab for any day or occasion! Bright top with a soft, balmy, soapy bottom. Great value!

This is just amazing! It's Bal d'Afrique topped with sugary lemon juice. Love at first sniff. The dry down is very similar to Find Comfort by Selena Gomez. I really adore it, it's comforting and smells rich.

To me this is pretty spot on to Bal D’Afrique. But a little bit more citrusy and smoother. I actually prefer to wear this one over the OG for that reason. Not a bad pickup at all for the price.

This smells zingy and fresh. It’s a clean, white t-shirt and jeans kinda scent. Could wear this to the gym, on a date or just everyday. Happy to have this in my collection. A nice freshie 🍋

How many dumbasses can be on this site, this isn't a dupe to Bal D'Afrique. This is a middle point of Hanuman and Al Rayhan. Bal D'Afrique is sour and earthy.

I haven't smelled the original, but I love this one. Totally fresh & mood-boosting. Perfect for spring & summer days. The price makes this a no-brainer.

I’m getting a ton of cigarette-y vetiver here. 30 or so minutes later a pleasant, light citrus. Glad I just have a decant!

It's very fresh, clean girl scent. Office friendly, pleasant, very citrusis. I really like it and it for daily wear.

My expectation of this was a combination of a citrusy, 'Sprite', smell and rich, earthy vetiver and unfortunately, I didn't get much vetiver or much of a 'Sprite' smell. I got a fresh clean slightly soapy, slightly floral citrus scent. I can't tell if I love it or hate it, yet for whatever reason, I'll come back to it often. It's intriguing while also simple and fresh. It garnered a compliment so that has to be worth something. I would ultimately say it IS unique for being a fresh soapy scent; just do not expect earthy sparkling Terre d'Hermes Vetiver kinds of notes. ( Love the bright sparkling and invigorating vetiver feel from that.) It does manage to come across as slightly sweet but suitable for business casual settings. It's not overly loud or projecting too which works for the scenarios I find myself wearing it in. I hope this helps people on the fence. I've come full circle and accepted it's not a strong vetiver scent, but it's decent.

I have this since almost 2 years and first time today I smelled Bal d thing... I sprayed generously but I was quite surprised when I was thinking about it in the flight. It smelled way more watery and transparent, also citrus in it smelled better quality. I am Canadian and though I reside in Toronto, it's still almost always cold. Bal d can't survive here. In my humble opinion, Vetiver Delight is a better and richer version. It has that same smell and feel but musk here is quite noticeable. Not denying that it's a clean white musk, but you have that Narciso Rodriguez style underlying animalistic dirtiness. First 15 mins, citrus feels a bit stingy but overall it smells superior as a fragrance. This is like a middle eastern bal d if it makes sense. Hence, it leaves that strong intoxicating trail behind you which lingers...

In the opening I get a citrus (more sweet than sour) blast mixed with something that reads as a candy floss type scent. It smells confected but pleasant. I get vetiver as an early minor grassy scent that develops into a light tobacco scent in the mid. In the dry down the musk comes through reminiscent of Cartier declaration haute fraicheur. Potentially the complexity of the overall fragrance is belied by the sweet poppy presentation of the notes. A young fun fragrance, a sort of gourmand freshie. Edit: Having left it a month it’s opened up to show the vetiver right down into the drydown, giving a nice dried grass in the base with the musk.

Imagine if Jolly Rancher made Vetiver candy. That's what this is. Very strong invigorating (artificial) opening, mouthwatering, fruity, sweet, sour, citric, jolly rancher. Vetiver sits way in the background and is only there as a supporting act. Vetiver is not as raw or earthy or none like a typical vetiver perfume, its just a hint of it to round out this candy like profile, even in the dry down you do not pick up too much of the vetiver. Midway it becomes slightly powdery from the suspect the violet (that was probably my only disliked part of it), but not too overwhelming. This is unisex leaning slightly feminine.

One of the first in my collection but this leans way to fem for me, as Bal d'y does too. BTW tons of similarities to Baldy. I can't speak to it being a clone because I don't know if that was, they're goal, although scent and bottle design should help you with that question, @ismellgoodtbh. lol. You gotta appreciate the folks that call others, DUMBASSES based on opinoins, LMAO!!! I'm sure I'm a dumbass too, considering I've disagreed with myself in the past. Anyway, I'm hoping to package this in a trade for an everyday office scent, Prada Carbon, with 2 of the 3 from the Khadlaj Island line. He already has the 3rd.

I have no idea how og smells like and I'm not a big fan of citrus-heavy fragrances but this one is really pleasant and easy to wear and It’s fantastic for scorching summer heat, when any other fragrance might feel too overwhelming and suffocating. It is a light and fresh smell of some slightly sweet and citrusy candy. If someone would tell me the same I wouldn't even bother trying it and move on but i'm surprised and i really like it after all. An easy blind buy.

There's nothing wrong with this, it's a nice citrusy oriental scent. It's not clear what excatly I smell, I get lemon, vetiver and orange flower. It's refreshing, sweet and woody at the same time, the musk is not prominent on my skin. I haven't tried the original BDA, but this has a nice vibe and I like to wear it in warm weather. Update. There's nothing wrong with this - in summer. In cold weather, it produces a typical nauseating effect.

Uplifting, sweet and sour fruity jolly rancher with hints of vetiver, very zingy and zesty. Some minor florals. After smelling so many Tygar/AfternoonSwim style of fragrances recently it almost makes me want to classify this as such - vetiver edition. Vetiver is not even listed, dont be scared, there is no dirty or earthy raw vetiver in this, just a very slight hint in the far background. I do enjoy this quite a bit.

I am so happy I found this little gem. Pretty spot on dupe for Bal d'Afrique and White Forest, but this seems to have a bit more citrus and power and the others. This is refreshing, better for warm weather or going to the gym. Unisex, leaning feminine for me. A lovely scent that you should try before buying a perfume for 100-200€.

This is a very good Bal d'Afrique clone but slightly more citrus and a bit brighter and lighter. The dry down lacks a bit of the woodiness of the original(the part some people do not like), but instead it turns into much lighter clean bright skin scent.

Bal d'Afrique on a budget. If you're on the fence it's a no brainer just do it while it's in stock.

I don't mind this one is not a 100% accurate recreation. In fact, when it's done well, I see it as an advantage - usually a more pleasant, rounded and therefore wearable alternative – either less off-putting (less sweet, cloying or nasty) or more women-friendly twists of 'unisex' niche fragrances. * The citrusy opening is refreshing and intense but not harsh: to my nose it does not register as a cleaning product, more like an effervescent lemon soda. It is soon balanced by some bitter touch from marigold and possibly bucchu/some tea note. It reminds me of Solitaire by French Avenue, but it doesn't smell unpleasant as the 'matcha' note there. I find Solitaire sweeter & more herbal (like herbal tea with honey (clover)), while this one is spicier and fresher – those initial citruses still linger around for quite some time. Initially unisex, in the drydown it turns more feminine with prominent floral notes (definitely violet leaves and rose too), and muskier. Despite the name, vetiver is less perceptible. Overall, it's ok, but I prefer to use it for layering (much better outcomes) because – for me – there is something missing, incomplete about this. Nonetheless, it is a rare occasion to get a summer freshie suitable for women too, from ME brands. I suppose Oriental brands should probably stick to these aromatic profiles (I really like Blu Femme by Ajmal, the combo of roses and clary sage with oakmoss and woody base, but find it more appropriate for spring/autumn, not summer heat).

I just keep coming back to this. When I wear something else at the moment, I’m thinking about Vibrant Vetiver Delight. It’s so good! Longevity-wise I think it actually holds up pretty darn well for a freshie. Summery, citrussy, clean, fresh with a some greenness coming from the vetiver. This is a love for me. I find it more suited to warmer weather and daytime. It’s my opinion that it’s firmly unisex, although I can see how it has a scent profile that aligns with other slightly masculine scents. As a female though I’m very comfortable wearing it and still feeling pretty and put together. Anyone who likes a well balanced fresh citrus will enjoy this. EDIT: I don’t know if it’s me or the fragrance that’s changed, but I just can’t wear this anymore. The dry down just isn’t working for me now and I can’t put my finger on why given I really enjoyed it in the early days of owning it. The dry down seems kind of slightly sickly to me now. Is it me? Have my tastes evolved? Or has the fragrance just kept on changing enough that it’s no longer suiting me? I don’t know, but it had its last chance yesterday, and that was it. I’ve had to evict it.

I have been trying to get my nose on this forever, but it was never available. Finally got a 2ml decant. Two words encapsulate my analysis: Deep disappointment! I love vetiver. It is one of my favorite notes. So this should have been a shoe-in. Unfortunately, you can't even smell the vetiver here. It opens with a nice bright Amalfi Lemon, of the type found in Gianfranco Ferre Fougere Italiano. This is grafted onto the top of a BR540/Khamrah accord. No vetiver. And the fragrance is hard to smell even with 8 sprays to the shirt and chest. But you tell yourself, "be patient, the vetiver will come, and your body heat will boost the strength." You check in every 30 minutes. The lemon is gone by 30 minutes, and ... nothing else happens. Ever. You are left with another of the dozens of generic gourmands that attempt to grab a bit of the BR/Khamrah pie. It's not bad, it is just common and overdone. I don't know if Bal de Africa is like this, but it must be. Fully unisex, I'd say even feminine leaning.

This perfume smells like a sweetened lemon juice. Clearly the lemon and blackcurrant dominates the scent profile. I don't know why they named it 'vibrant vetiver'; I can barely smell it; there is no earthiness quality to the fragrance. If you expect a fresh or sour citrus punch, avoid this. This smells a little synthetic but considering the price, I have no complain. Personally, I prefer a more citrusy fresh perfume but I feel this is an easy wear that anyone can pull off. Lasts 7-8 hours on my clothes but in skin you'd have to re-spray it after 4 hours. It is suitable all year round; but preferably during spring. Very unisex. It doesn't project loudly but it is there; creating a small scent bubble. Not more than an arm's length.

Fragrance Journal Entry #35 This fragrance is not what i expected with a name like this, the vetiver is somehwat subdued and more on the "clean" side rather than the "earthy" side and plays more of a supporting role rather than a main character. The opening is nice, super clean citrusy, bright lemon bergamot combo, but as it dries down it starts to give a womans shampoo vibe which is a bit of a turn off for me, i think many would enjoy this scent but for me personally it doesn't fit in my rotation. Like almost all paris corner scents the performance is sub-par as well. Rating: 6.3/10 Blind Buy Safe? NO

Citrusy, ambient, and quite soapy. A deep inhale of this scent immediately reminded me of a car/room freshener. I wanted to like this, but after trying it out, it seems to me that citrus scents are not my thing. Update: The dry down smells pleasant on my clothes and lasts long too!!! Though I still wouldn't reach for it, it's a nice, sweet, pleasant smell that I wouldn't mind smelling on others.

Wayyyy too strong citrus and sugary notes in the opening, I had to scrub it off a lot :( worried now as I'm in a humid climate. I'll let it mature in the bottle a bit, will probably have to change my application method severely to make sure I don't gas anybody in public. Other than that the middle is nice, slightly woody but mostly still sugary citrus.

It's very close to Bal D'afrique. It's a great summer freshie that reminds me a lot of Acqua Di Parma Bergamotto Di Calabria. Clean, bright, smooth and soapy in the drydown. Such a bargain at $50! The vetiver in this is not dirty or challenging in any way. You can't go wrong for $50. Longevity is decent.

I don't get any of the fresh citrus or "sprite" effect, to me this is melon hard candy complete with the syrupy feeling it leaves in the back of your throat. No vetiver, but definitely reminiscent of ball the freak. Very feminine.
