Decadence

The bottle I own looks exactly like the Prince Matchabelli version bottle. There is a Parlux bottle with a gold cap and no writing on the bottle. My box isn't dated, nor is the bottle, which is why I listed the Parfums International. If mine is a vintage, that would explain the problem with the dating above as 2005. PM's version is from 1985 and the notes differ as such: Top: Bergamot, green notes, lemon, orange blossom, peach. Middle: Carnation, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, orchid, rose, tuberose, ylang-ylang. Base: Amber, cedarwood, moss, musk, vanilla, vetiver. I didn't get any plum, apple or raspberry in my version. I did get loads of peach, vanilla and orange blossom, tho. When I said it smelled vintage tho, I meant vintage from decades ago, say from the 1950's or 1960's. Thus, my review would be for an older bottle than 2005, still called Decadence, similar picture with black cap, different notes, not same manufacturer. (hope that clarifies...)

This is a well-mixed blend of jammy fruits that are richly blended to give a vintage feel to a perfume that's really not that old. If you didn't know the name or year of this perfume you would swear you were smelling a vintage perfume from decades ago. It's full-bodied, thick and lays on a bed of deep woods. It's a sticky floral, almost narcotic with its sweetness. Decadence is sensual, old-school and more sophisticated than one would expect for its price. Some might call this a stuffy type of perfume, and that's ok. It's just not their style. It's not for everyone. That's what makes perfumes fun for all of us. Decadence is long-lasting and strong, better-suited for nights. If you're looking for a strong perfume that brings you back to vintages, this might be one that's affordable. It's like walking down a lush garden path, inhaling every bouquet you can, with an outdoor kitchen not far away. My bottle for reference is made by Parfums International.

Vintage Decadence by Parfums International has a lot going for it, and I'm glad to have it in my collection. For one, D. has highly realistic plum and peach notes, which may not seem a big deal. Most perfumes with those stone fruit notes tend to smell a bit sour or even spoiled while D's notes are ripe and honeyed. There's a resemblance to vintage Ysatis in D. although the fragrances share few common notes. Still, it's Ysatis that comes to mind. Sillage is average, lasting power is good. D. is a feminine scent and work safe with a light application. The bottle design is delightfully architectural, the topper's geometric shape contrasts with the bottle's smooth curves: a great addition to a collection of beautiful bottles. D. is available from Parlux, too, which is a newer version of the scent. I'm not familiar with that fragrance and will stick with the vintage PI edition.

I have the Parlux version of this perfume, however, it does have the black top and looks just like the perfume international versions. The first spray of this I do not like it just smells kind of almost rotten. But after just a couple moments, it opens up into a lovely fruity vintage hairspray vibe. I love that complex hairparay smell from perfumes of the late 80s and early 90s. I’m also getting some delicious yummy fruits, but it’s not too sweet. I happen to love marigold smells in fragrances and am also a fan of oak moss. It does give this a somewhat outdoorsy hay scent but the fruits keep it from getting too dusty. When I first sprayed this, I promptly put it into my resale bin, but now that it settled I will be keeping it. I am also interested in trying the perfume international to compare.

Very vintage sweet and sour stone fruit with moss. Quite balsamic. Reminds me of fragrances like vancleef the original but not a dupe. It has that fall putting up the fruit preserves vibe or making sour compotes. It also smells very 70s as well. I got samples out of curiosity but I doubt I will wear them. I like Vancleef better.
