Big Floppy Flowers

On first sniff ~1 year ago, I mostly got the florals, which are nice, but not really what I gravitate toward in a perfume. But going back to this fragrance sample the other day I fell in love with it, super green, the celery and grass notes work very well to off-set the florals, and tend to be stronger for me on my skin. It very much gives the image of an open field in the spring, which has been great during my cold winter blues. The opening is very a bright and cheery green, followed by the florals coming out, which smoothes the green as the perfume dries down. Alie’s perfumes are all very evocative and playful, yet super well composed.

This feels like childhood, a time when we were much closer to the earth, constantly tasting things. Tasting the ground and plant debris smattered on our fingers during a summertime romp through the yard. Sitting at the dinner table, senses cleared, smelling this on your fingers. Not taking a shower, smelling this as you eat, and falling asleep on the porch.

The first thought that immediately came to mind was Dorothy in the poppy fields in Wizard of Oz. I could smell but couldn’t identify the flower scent until I checked the notes. Once I read “daisy” it made sense. There’s a major green aspect in the opening reminiscent of flower stems and grass. There’s also a chic perfume accord that reminds me of high end floral classics. Scents such as Carnal Flower come to mind, if you can imagine a “daisy” version of CF rather than tuberose. Drydown also reminds me a bit of Diors Dune somehow, but more floral, less bitter, more wearable and IMO much more enjoyable. I really like this one. It isn’t a super girly floral and isn’t sweet, it’s more unisex and natural, yet maintains a niche quality to it. I don’t immediately recognize celery as it comes off more like celery powder in the spice rack—dry, bitter and herbal opposed to fresh and wet. I really like this and will need to test it more as I’m contemplating a bottle. It wasn’t the typical white floral bomb I expected but I really enjoy the uniqueness, realistic-ness, and niche quality to it.

7/10 a nice grass whimsical smell. I would definitely test before buying. I usually HATE green/grass smells especially in masc perfumes. They smell like hay fEverclear. But this is nice. It's strong, but very mystical. This is how I think Winnie the Pooh would actually smell like because he's plush being dragged in the forest and grass by a child. It also does smells like Demeter's Dirt which isn't a bad thing. DD is the cleanest dirt smell ever. I bought the tester and while I do like it, I already have DD and I want a more dark floral smell for me personally. I will not be buying a full bottle, but if I had it at a discount sure I'll use it.
