Ataraxia

For the longest time I was looking for a fragrance with the note of coffee that not make me feel edible, which means not a totally gourmand. Ataraxia is a perfectly balanced fragrance and between the white florals, musk, coffee and vanilla, the final composition ended up being exactly what I was looking for. TOP NOTES: Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom and Pear * HEART NOTES: White Flowers, Jasmine and Coffee * BASE NOTES: Vanilla, Patchouli, Cedarwood and Musk To me Ataraxia is about the orange blossom plus vanilla and coffee blended to perfection. This gourmand fragrance subverts expectations. Instead of the typical syrupy sweetness, it offers a refined blend of coffee and vanilla. It reminds me of the subtle sweetness of those hard coffee candies. This unique blend is further enhanced by a heart of white florals, primarily jasmine. While marketed as unisex, the prominent white florals and white musk create a predominantly feminine character. The absence of strong woody notes, which often contribute to a more masculine scent profile, further emphasizes its feminine leanings. Unfortunately, this fragrance is marred by an awful bottle design that reminds me of something you'd find in a medicine cabinet. You'll enjoy this one for the scent, but you'll likely hide it away due to its homely appearance. Overall, this is a well-crafted gourmand fragrance that offers a refreshing departure from the overly sweet and cloying options often found in this category. Highly versatile scent.
