#156 of My Fragrance Journey - PERDRISÂT Sycophant: The one that smells like ignoring a phone call on purpose 2:47 in the afternoon, phone buzzes once - face down somewhere in the grass, or maybe it's on the warm timber, I don't even remember - then goes quiet again. Name on the screen does that thing where your chest tightens a little. Small obligation. I let it go unanswered. Wasn't avoidance, not really. More like gravity just won that round. The moment settled, and I let it. Half hour, hour before that, I'd put Sycophant on without really thinking about it. Two sprays, maybe three. Something light, easy, the kind of thing you forget you're wearing by the time your coffee's gone cold. But the day shifts, heat starts sitting heavier on skin, and that's when it actually shows up. This isn't really a fig fragrance the way you'd expect one. It's the tree. Whole thing. Opens hard and immediate. Green leaves warmed by sun, snapped branches, that white sap fig trees leak everywhere - bitter, a bit sticky, weirdly tactile for a fragrance. There's a realism in it that's almost unsettling at first, like you didn't compose this so much as walk straight into it. You can practically feel it on your fingertips. No citrus lift to soften you into it. No gentle opening. Just foliage, alive, completely unbothered about being liked right away. It goes hard into that raw botanical space - leaves, stems, bark, all of it working as one thing. Not the fruit, the whole organism. And if there's a place this fragrance asks something of you, it's right here. That opening can feel austere, maybe too honest, especially if you walked in expecting something sweeter or more comforting up front. But it doesn't sit there forever. Slowly, almost without you clocking it, the edges start to soften. Bitterness loosens its grip a bit. Something lactonic creeps in through the green - not creamy like dessert, more like warm milk soaked into old, weathered wood. A faint powderiness smooths it out without erasing that green structure underneath it. The tree doesn't vanish. It just moves into shade. What's left is balanced without ever being obvious about it. Green, but softer now. Woody, but not dry. There's a composure to it - like loosening your collar in late afternoon and just letting the heat finish the job for you. It's not performing. Not trying to fill a room. It stays close. Projection pulls back fast, collapses into this tight, intimate radius - you'll notice it more when you move than when you're sitting still. By the later hours, it's less a scent in the air and more something on your skin. Private. Almost a memory before the day's even over. Longevity sits around 5 to 7 hours, but it wears soft the whole way through. You're not announcing this one. You're just carrying it. And that restraint feels deliberate, honestly. Sycophant isn't chasing anything, isn't building toward some big reveal. It just exists, quiet and steady, like an afternoon that slips by without asking you for anything. By the time the voicemail finished playing, I genuinely didn't care anymore why I'd missed the call. Vibe: Snapped fig branches. White sap on warm skin. An afternoon you let slip by on purpose. Performance: Close and intimate - 5 to 7 hours, sillage barely a whisper. This lives on skin, not in the room. Fit: High summer, slow afternoons, anyone who'd rather carry a scent than announce it. wow it isn't so often you get such a deep green scent that is also markedly feminine. I'm floored. I grew up climbing and hanging out in a fig tree everyday, breaking twigs just to smell the sap. as everyone else has stated better than I can, this Realllly captures that to a 1:1 degree. dry down doesn't transform too much but it does get a little sweeter with wear and time and I find that extra lovely this fragrance really took me by surprise and it's had some really tough acts to follow as I've been making my way thru PERDRISAT samples and wow. I love deep green fragrances so much that I just gave up and wore cologne in high school lol and I've come to really love lactonic notes, in their full spectrum of delicious to disgusting - so this being a combo of deep green and delicious sweet milky is so lovely and something so unexpected, unique, and perfect. I could see how this scent could come off strong and off putting to someone without sentimental attachment/ experience with fig trees or if you aren't a fan of deeper green fragrances. but if you have wanted to go green but dislike cologne smell I think this would be an excellent excellent pick. best sillage of the summer set by far it really radiates into an aura and its super lovely.

As someone who has spent a fair amount of time on fig orchards during their fruiting season, I am blown away by how realistic they got the scent. I have always found Diptyque's Philosykos to be a average interpretation of the Fig (and far too coconutty) but this scent is quite close to the real heady and intoxicating scent. It opens with green crushed leaves and milky sap scent, which gives way to a certain wetness with a hint of jasmine. As it settles the full bloom of ripe figs come through supported by the lactonic quality and the sweetness of the amber. I am sitting under a fig tree on a warm day, i can smell the grass beneath me and the distant smell of the last of the season jasmine.

this perfume smells like a summer night where you've been at the pool all day and are slightly sunburned and a little tired from swimming, but you rally and you shower and you have strawberry and fig ice cream and a cigarette for dinner, and then you go to the club, where you make out with your paramour all night.
