Vetiver

Beautiful nutty vetiver. In the base, a bit of nutmeg will give it a slightly dusty quality. It's high level, perfectly done, but doesn't really bring anything new to the table. For a " modest pricing of $630 for 100ml, one is rightfully expecting something out of this galaxy.... Of course, there's than 'handblown' bottle... but.... (and its naked, standard made-in-china 'refill' bottle version is only available in Europe for... 200 Euros...). Like the previous reviewer has stated, I also got more impressed on the blotter, where it appears has an aethereal, known but unique at the same time vetiver beauty. On skin, it's still beautiful, but definitely not unique. Seriously... you like this one? Get Givenchy;s Vetyver for 3X less (or 10X less, if considering the fancy handblown thing), and you'll get 99% identical drydown... that's my advice. Or if really you want to spend $200 on a pop of vetiver, get Parfum d'Empire Vetiver Bourbon. THAT is also not a revolution, but really standing out!

The opening is stunning with an elegant, ethereal vetiver that almost levitates you before the characteristic rooty grassiness comes through alongside. Very natural, presenting vetiver's essential spirit, quiet and meditative. Aside from the sharpening grapefruit and a chalky-soft tonka bean the other notes are very much in the background, cedar, nutmeg and lavender supporting rather than starring. This is the house standard for vetiver and it appears in similar form in their other perfumes such as Ink or Dusk . Gorgeous on the blotter, in this form a little too rooty on my skin — with the grapefruit it becomes almost acidic and it was the most humid day of the year — but a must to try for all vetiver-heads. Those who like natural, earthier vetivers and appreciate quality will love this.

Exciting and very wearable. Citrus Vetiver DNA, but brings a fun uplifting warmth to it, balanced bitters, perfectly tamed often coarse Vetiver situation. Expands greener in the impressive mid phase, well blent with the slight florals and woods warming up more and more towards dry down. Instantly fascinated, with the purchase decision to it, after randomly stumbling upon the physical store in Paris. Vetiver savvys must have, definitely Up there with a few Ones. Bergamot Italy, Grapefruit, Bitter Orange, Lavender France, Nutmeg Java, Vetiver Haiti, Vetiver Bourbon, Patchouli Indonesia, Cedar Moss and Tonka Bean.
