Perry Ellis Cobalt

I saw this on one of my last trips to a mall with an ex girlfriend. That mall had a Burlington which had it on sale for $19.99 for a 100ml bottle as well as a Perry Ellis store which had the tester of this. I tried the tester and knew I had to get it in Burlington. It is quite possibly the best Burlington pickup I have ever made. Perry Ellis Cobalt is a flanker to the 2013 Perry Ellis. You know the similar black bottle with a blue center that smells like Bleu de Chanel. Well, I can say that it don't to me, all I got was the bitter orange note, which is a note that I HATE. Instead, this I get a Bleu de Chanel or even more or less a Versace Pour Homme Dylan Blue vibe from the ginger and citrus opening, but I also get some Sean John Unforgivable too from the rum in the base. I love Dylan Blue, and Unforgivable, and Bleu is popular even with me, so this is a great mix to me. Now it is different from Dylan Blue and Bleu. Firstly as I mentioned there is an added rum note like in Sean John Unforgivable that isn't in either. Second, there is no patchouli or incense in Cobalt at all, though these lengthers doesn't really hurt performance. Unlike Bleu, you don't have the sweet fruity scent of pink pepper in this one. Finally, there is no water note like Dylan Blue or accord in Bleu in Cobalt as well. These all don't hurt Cobalt and in fact makes it unique to this style of mass market scent. Performance is pretty good with this one. It is a more spring, summer, early fall scent that can work both daytime and nighttime. The scent lasts about 8 hours on me with about 4 hours of projection. I sprayed the scent on at about 2 with four sprays around the neck and was getting whifs of it until 6. The projection is moderate for the first two hours before dying off. This is nearly a skeleton key, though I wouldn't club with this scent, well unless you spray it over and over again after two hours. The main knock I have with this scent is a minor one, that it isn't a winter time scent. Now for me that is only four months of constant cold, but that means that it isn't an all year scent. So with that in mind, I must rate Perry Ellis Cobalt a 9 out of 10 but it is now in my top 5 and a must but when it runs low. Surprisingly it is above Versace Dylan Blue in my book. Despite my ex loving this, I love this too so I'm keeping it.

It's funny. I read reviews and see people say they threw it in the trash or its boring. Must be a niche head. This frag is not for you. This is a fresh, slightly sweet, and slight boozy scent that is a great cheapie! People talk about Perry Ellis Pour Homme aka the Bleu de Chanel clone. Smells good lasts 2hrs. Cobalt is much better in my honest opinion. The ginger opening is very pleasant, followed by slight rum note and sweetness. I imagine the sweet is fig. There is also a slight amber/sandalwood way in the back. If you like to smell good and are not a fragsnob this is an easy blind buy reach. I've gotten several compliments while wearing Cobalt. Lasts 8 hrs on me. Wifey can still smell it when I get home from work and gives me that...ooohhh you smell so good...seal of approval. A great over 25 everyday guy frag!

I recently downsized my entire collection to just a chosen few, and convinced myself that... I now have a very well rounded collection so I would not be purchasing anything any time soon. I not only bought this fragrance I also purchased the shower gel etc upon first smell. I'm a sucker for fig! This juice is Awesome! It's a smokey,fig, with some dark wood. It doesn't last long 2-4 hrs then it's gone, but at the price point I will be buying a few back ups. I'm going to try the last 3 releases from this house... Because I definitely found something special.

This is my Bleu de Chanel. It is very simple and safe, yet it smells great and is pretty versatile. I'm so glad that I discovered this. I don't like BDC, but I was looking for a fragrance that was in the same realm of being versatile, a people pleaser, and good performance. Fortunately for me I get at least a good 6 hours out of this and projection is moderate (about an arm's length) It's just what I was looking for!

I bought this with a 10 dollar coupon from Amazon about 2 months ago.. I am so glad I did.. That ginger in the opening is very nice.. I don’t get much fig as I was expecting.. I think this is a no brainer for those looking for a cheap easy to like fragrance.. Perfect for work and casual nights out.. Lasts a long time too Rating 8.0/10

I had this frag in high school and girls loved it. Curve was a bit better imho because it was cheaper and got more attention. Great young man frag! Scent:10/10 Sillage:8/10 Longevity:9/10

I get the Dylan blue comparisons, but this reminds me alot of hugo dark blue. It may just be the ginger note in both but to me they are in the same vein. I own all 3 Dylan Blue, cobalt, and hugo dark blue. I like the fragrance as a whole. Its smells great, is cost effective, and is non offensive. But longevity and silage are issues. If you can get this fragrance for 20 bucks or less in a 3.4 oz then by all means I suggest buying it. But any amount more you can find better performing fragrances that smell just as good or better. Like Dylan Blue. Or dark blue by hugo boss, which can be found for under 20 bucks even though its been discontinued. Maybe blue fragrances just make people go nose blind quickly. I think ambroxan is the culprit. The tartness of it burns up the sinus passages the way sour candy makes you cringe. It seems to me alot of colognes I have longetivity issues with have ambroxan as a main ingredient. But with so many blue fragrances available, this one gets lost at sea with the vast majority of them.

The first time I tried this I loved it. I got the cashmeran and fig and a hint of the rum and thought it smelled very unique and fresh. Too bad the 2nd time I didn't like it at all. Cheap rum, sandalwood that smells like sawdust, some musk and the tiniest bit of cashmeran with a sort of metallic vibe that was off putting...that's what it smelled like to me. I may or may not try this one again, because I enjoyed it so much the first time. I have enjoyed many of the Perry Ellis fragrances otherwise.

I really like this fragrance. It immediately reminded me of something, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I started comparing its individual notes to other fragrances. Then I realized what it was. This scent shares five different notes with Calvin Klein's Escape, in the sandalwood, bergamot, amber, rosemary, and sage. It's definitely got an Escape vibe to it, but I think the fig, rum, and ginger take it a slightly different direction. Very similar to Escape, though.

On my first impression I get a little bit of a 212 vibe from this. Or maybe a Bleu De Chanel mixed with 212. It is pretty good and good for the price I got this for. It's smooth like 212 but it has some spice down at the bottom as well and I think that comes from the rum note. I get moderate longevity and sillage. Overall it's a good purchase and I like the name Cobalt. Perry Ellis does a good job for a great price. I have many of their fragrances!

I blind bought this frag because of many different reviews online. The opening is okay and the dry down is quite generic for me! Not really special or unique! But the biggest disappointment for me is the performance. Longevity is just about 3 hours and the silage is just ok! I just feel like a bump

I always get at least one compliment every time I wear this one. It is very pleasant and good to wear in the office or formal night out, you can be confident not many guys out there would be wearing it. The bottle is very nice as well.

Purchased from Amazon, After an hour i can only smell it on my skin / clothes. Won't comment on how it smells as i'm not good with notes. Purchased as a blind buy just suprised at how long it lasted.

It's a fairly decent fragrance, but I've found a way to enjoy this even more. I've mixed it with Versace Man Eau Fraiche. Both are pretty synthetic, but this takes some of the edge off... both.

This opens up with a synthetic bitterness, then gets fuzzy almost powdery as it dries. That first initial blast, like first 10 minutes or so, I'm not a fan. But after that it's pleasant. It's not great. I wouldn't recommend you order it right away. But if you're in a rack store, an really wanna buy a fragrance, and you see this for cheap, I don't think you're gonna regret the purchase. The longevity isn't fantastic, but it's not bad at all. I do think it's sits close to the skin for the majority of the time though.

Dylan Blue's older, less attractive half brother. One of the most nondescript frags I've ever owned.

Dick's Sporting Goods. Right inside the entrance of the store, the bulky building and big windows are similar to the feeling of being inside of a clock tower. The high ceilings of the store are open and confined at the same time. Some of the displays and shelves are wood facades, made to look like real living wood trees, or light colored curvy snaking wood, as if the shelf was a funky growing tree. Racks of scratchy sweaters, various jackets of synthetic waterproof materials. Otherwise normal looking articles of clothing but they have a figgy pink racing stripe or small color accent. The pleasantness of gripping the golf club/ tennis racket grips. Squeezing a hiking/running shoe in your hands, and pressing your fingernails into the rubber sole. You appreciate the utilitarian outdoor/athletic quality that ties all these products together. Maybe there are some lounge chairs around the store; comfortable enough, but you really don't want stay here all day. The mainstream suburban feel of this strip mall complex. You drive a Subaru Forester, and have an office job in the city on a med-high floor. Scratchy wood, department clothing store vibe breaks even with the boozy fig.

I didn't like the opening at all. Then it dried down and I waited then I was like "ok I'll keep this" then seconds later went back to return it. ...wonk wonk wonk... even though I had gotten the gift set for $25. I just didn't see myself reaching for this. The drydown was okay and reminded me of early 90s discount colognes at Value City. That rum or gin musky smell
