Jasmagonda 23.1

The first impression is one of the very pleasant, well behaved and polite jasmin-magnolia combination. I usually like my jasmine dirty, but I don't think this story is about jasmine. Lovely waxy and citrusy magnolia with tonka and a little bit of vanilla makes it all cool, creamy, silky, slightly nutty and salty. That has to be vetiver. The overall result is green, woody, a bit earthy and, I swear, I see bananas and banana leafs. Exquisitely smooth and cool. Like high end resort, all zen, soothing and stylish. Lush texture and that salty nutty facet, close to wheat, is addictive and my favorite part. It can be great not beachy, but certainly exotic, holiday themed perfume suitable for everyday use. The absence of sugar and usual suspects keeps it refined, rather cosmetic and sensual. I find it highly enjoyable and indulgent. Smells expensive.

Best jasmine ever, still sampling it, will come back later after I give it a proper few days wear. Honestly, I got some problems with jasmine compatibility and my skin, but not anymore, letl's see... Right, second day of wearing this one and still my thoughts are as same as the above, jasmine is definitely the queen here with all other ingredients dancing around it, it is very noticeable on its own, but also everything is blended in a beautiful harmony altogether to form a superb sense of scent. There is only one downside unfortunately, it is not very long lasting on my skin, but who cares, really? I do consider it as a FB purchase, though.

Naughty Pierre Guillaume at it again, making beautiful things that whirl your nose to ecstasy and then evaporate brusquely, leaving you high and dry and with nothing nice left to smell. My own taste in jasmines leans more to green & earthy ... but this one - a gorgeously warm, soft, woody version which completely mellows out all of the sometimes screechy edges of the flower - puts forward a whole new facet. And it works wonderfully, though it's a simple, even minimalist recipe; there's a a really interesting play-off between the gradually-diminishing top floral notes and the gradually-deepening and strengthening note of cedar, which gets to somewhere genuinely beautiful after a couple of hours. (I have to admit I don't get any specific gardenia note at all.) The vanilla and tonka rise to the surface more over time, meaning that a lovely, sweet, almost powdery afterglow hangs on for a little - very little - while longer after that. But sadly the overall lifespan is tragically short, so at PG's rather stiff price point, it's no sale for me. More of a beautiful interlude than a real-life proposition; but a lovely interlude indeed.

Jasmine and... Rubber?! I kept thinking that rubber note might be a fleeting sensation, but it's firmly present. It might be the combination of cedar with one of the other notes. Was it intentional? The overall composition is not for me. Weak performance.

love PG but this was a miss for me! I do not get any of the top notes, jasmine and ...? there is a bitter smell coming from under. i would not consider this a safe blind buy, smells like cheap perfume.

Sweet magnolia and hints of jasmines. It has the least jasmines as the magnolia, water apples and tonka are the dominants with bits of vetiver & vanilla sandalwood. Pierre said in one of his interviews in fragrantica "one of my customers is a happy air balloon owner, and he invited me to fly with him many times over the years. But for me it was not easy to accept; it was too scary, I didn't feel it would be safe, but he kept insisting and at last I said “yes”. It was a terrific experience, and when we started to go down, I felt something special, a cold wind mixing with the warm air from the balloon – we could smell the green trees combined with warm air. At the time I was working on Komorebi – and it was totally contrary to that, so I decided to create another green perfume, a warm one, Jasmagonda. They both are green but they have different points of view." I kind of see this view through "Jasmagonda", the combination is presenting that cooling yet heated balloon trip and that green forest angle. Indeed it's an interesting take as the jasmine is hidden while the combination of magnolia vetiver, musk, & tonka apples conquers. Nice.

First impression on paper: Identical to Decou-Vert by Laboratorio Olfattivo. Very Green and watery. Will shine in Spring
