Clubman Musk

My initial impression of this fragrance was not, as others have said, that is a beefed up version of the original. If anything it reminded me of two other fragrances in my collection: Canoe and Brut Musk. The top notes are definitely more like Canoe, Jade East, and Hai Karate than original Clubman. The drydown is very similar to Brut Musk with it's almost fruity and metallic type of musk scent. But this musk is much more subtle than that of the Brut line. Brut Musk is not for the faint of heart and it takes real guts to rock that scent, even just the aftershave. All in all I think Clubman Musk is a manly fragrance. It is my second favorite of the original Pinaud line, my first being Special Reseve. SR is like nothing I have ever smelled and every man should try it at least once. I would definitely recommend Clubman Musk to anyone who, if you're like me, thinks original Clubman is a bit too subtle and prefers something more akin to a cologne. UPDATE: if you are a fan of Avon's Tai Winds, Clubman Musk is for you. The two are very similar. Whenever I wear Jaguar for Men, I pair it with this aftershave. The two work really nicely together for some reason, like mustard and relish.

Like most of the fragrances in this line, I bought this on a whim because it's inexpensive and harkens to a much older and more relaxed time when men treated themselves as men. what is noticeably lacking in the notes the thing is that this particular After Shave includes both oakmoss and tree moss in significant enough portions that did that is the majority of the smell you have at the end of the dry down. This is an incredibly well blended but inexpensive old style barbershop scent that includes the typical aroma isolates from this period of perfumery- citral, citronellol, geraniol, hydroxycitronellal, limonene and linalool. Lush, clean, masculine, definitely old school, but never dated. As aftershave, the longevity is surprisingly good when applied generously, but the sillage is polite. Hugs result in tons of compliments but it is never a rude or overt scent presence. Personally? I'd love this in a concentrated formulation with a touch of damascone added to give it a hint of a unisex edge. As is? It's fabulously cheap on the wallet and quite nearly a guilty pleasure... Rather nice as a splash before bed.

Straight up Clubman Musk is a lighter Brut in bubblegum pink liquid form. It shares some notes with regular Clubman but overall it's far more similar to original Brut than it's Clubman brethren. I'm totally down with that as it smells amazing and Brut is another staple of men's fragrances. Move your Clubmans to glass bottles to get rid of the nasty plastic smell and potential leaching of harmful crap from the cheap bottles.

Brut...lighter more refreshing Brut. Musky powdery barbershop. Great. I think I prefer it over regular brut aftershave. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 6.5 / Longevity: 6

as far as cheap and simple fragrances go, this one is fantastic. a nice clean, fresh, semi sweet smell. also has phenomenal longevity and projection

As I've read elsewhere, I'll agree that this bears a bit of resemblance to the original and you can smell the signature Pinaud DNA but the tweak of musk produces a wonderful variation to the scent. My nose may not be the best in the world and I'm not smelling citrus or herbal notes per se but there's no doubt they're mixed in there somewhere, because of the similarity to the original. Obviously, you're not buying this fragrance expecting the varying complexity of a high end niche fragrance and linear is a good description but I don't see that as a bad thing. I love it and want it to smell the exact same way throughout the life of the fragrance. It's very inexpensive at under $10 / bottle and that's great! I've found a new love and I haven't had to spend $200 to own it! Even though I own a variety of niche and designer fragrances, I'm as happy to have this one in my collection as I am the others. Some people seem to enjoy parading it around when they've spent $200 or more on a fragrance and had to order from a specialty house. All I can say is if that's what gets your rocks off, more power to you, however, I'm not a guy that feels the need to do that. I'm not a snob when it comes to fragrances. My primary requirement in a fragrance is that a smells good to me and whether the pleasing scent is produced by a noted French perfume expert, Calvin Klein, or a non-descript mall kiosk, if I enjoy it, that's what matters most to me. If you're a lover of barbershop style fragrances, this is a must have. Add this one to the forefront of of the list that embodies that category. There is a bit of a nostalgic element here, in regard to the fact that it's reminiscent of a traditional barbershop but I don't see that as a bad thing, because there are few things that say "manly" as much as a traditional barbershop does. This fragrance is fresh, clean and It's not hard to see why it's so attractive and how it could produce nice compliments from women. This is an absolutely safe scent for work and I recommend that you wear it there too. If I had a wish for it, I'd wish it were more concentrated to last longer but outside of that, it needs no changes. As is, I'll be using it as a cologne / body splash out of the shower, so hopefully the strength that it does have, sinks into the pores a bit more. Maybe I'll try adding an unscented skin lotion before I put the musk on too. Projection is soft and longevity is weak to moderate at best. Personally, I don't see how anyone can go wrong having a bottle of this in their collection. It's a love for me and will always have a place on my shelf. Bottom line: Fresh, clean and attractive barbershop fragrance.

DNA of the original with added musk. I basically get a citrus note and sweet musk. Very linear as all other clubman fragrances. It does not last as long as the original but still on the skin for about 1-2 hours with soft projection. Smells slightly warm and sweet. Barber shop vibe without feeling "old man", refreshing but still warm. Of all the clubman products I've tried so far I would rate them from: Original (Best) Musk Vanilla Bay Rum Special reserve (Worst) For about $4-10 you can't go wrong with these splashes for post shave or just to refresh in the afternoon.

Pinaud Clubman Musk... ...is very similar to the original Pinaud Clubman. The main difference is that Clubman Musk is less powdery and the musk note gives it a freshness.It is also a bit more subtle and doesn't have as much oakmoss as the original. The comparison to Brut is understandable because the original Pinaud Clubman can be seen as the grandfather of Brut. However, Brut is fresher due to the anise/licorice note lingering in the background which neither the original Pinaud nor Pinaud Clubman Musk use. Overall a very nice aftershave/cologne.

While others say this is identical to the original I will have to disagree. Is it similar? yes but is it identical? No. This was the second Pinaud scent that I have used. While it is good I would have to say that I prefer the Original and also the Bay Rum. I would buy this again but would not use it as an everyday aftershave. I would recommend this for the winter and fall times. This is also a classic barber scent if you remember those day! The Gents score (8/10)

Been using this occasionally after shaving for about 6 months or so. It reminds me of the OG but.....muskier. Just as you'd imagine. I was hoping that the musk would a little richer but it's not bad. I'm going to keep searching for an aftershave with a stronger musk, but this isn't bad.

Smells more similar to Original Clubman than Brut. Maybe slightly less powdery with a sweeter synthetic smelling musk. I think I like Original Clubman more than this one. If you want to try a decent musk, try the Aqua Velva Musk for $3. It is a winner.

toned down Clubman original. Less powdery that the original. Not bad but nothing beats the original. 6/10

One of my least favorite from this line. If you enjoy a straight up musk aftershave, try it out. Personally, I would rather splash on all the others before this one.

Basically the original Clubman with a little extra citrus on top, and extra (extra-sweet?) musk in the drydown. I'll concede that Clubman Musk is the most "Brut-like" of the Pinaud line, as in Brut 33 from the 1970s. It's good stuff but with Clubman and Coachman (a watered down Clubman) and Brut already on the market, why bother? (I continue to own and wear it because I'm allergic to Brut.) Update (and response to Le Knows): Why shouldn't you bother, you ask? Well, look, if you haven't already purchased Clubman (or Coachman), and you want something 99.9% the same, you can't go wrong with Clubman Musk. I mean, it's the same as if you buy Clubman. Only difference is it's a little bit lighter, maybe a little more citrusy, with a sweeter musk in the far drydown. Do I regret buying it? No. Do I use it much? No. Why? Because I already own something that smells like it, in two forms: Clubman and Coachman - and btw, because of Clubman, I never use Coachman, either. So, not saying you shouldn't buy it if it's the first of its type you are after. But if you've already done this, why spend another $8 and do it again? Might as well spend that money on something new.

This is a weaker version of the original with added musk. Not bad but lacks the classic appeal and scent memory of perhaps the most iconic barbershop splash ever created for the American market... Pinaud Clubman original. When dad's would take their son to the local barber. Customers (all men) would be gossiping about local issues with each other and of course the friendly chatty barber. Everyone knew each other by name. Then after your haircut the barber would splash on Clubman original (it made youngsters feel all grown up) then he would dust that amazing smelling Pinaud talc on your neck that instantly cooled your skin. Ahh yes, a time when things was a lot simpler, and pursuing American dream was something we all understood and respected. How times have changed.

There's also a good possibility you'll actually prefer it to Orginal Clubman. I do. Super affordabale. You can get a 6 oz bottle super cheap. Functions as aftershave and cologne. Clubman Musk reminds me of Brut in the glass bottle, though not nearly as rich. I dont think I smell any musk in it. I like the Pink color.

Just got it today. I'm extremely satisfied with the sensation. It reminds me a little bit of Brut, but in its final stage. The smell is kinda powdery, and musky. Great purchase. I just feel relaxed when applied.

This is what "Eau de Brut II" would smell like, if there were such a thing. If a lighter version of Brut appeals to you, Pinaud Citrus Musk is for you. Good stuff here.

In the movie Anchorman when Brian was reaching for the "Black Panther" cologne, you could clearly see in the cabinet a bottle of this stuff 😽😸😼🐈⬛🐆
