Bud

Bud by Piper & Perro is a beautifully unisex fragrance for those who may want something sweeter in a fragrance, but don’t want to lean too far on the feminine side. Fruity fragrances, for me, tend too either be too fruity, too floral, or too much of both - and that is what usually turns me away. This is coming from someone who religiously purchases spicy, warm fragrances. The notes of bulgarian rose and pineapple leaves contrast perfectly with notes of patchouli and concrete. As someone who is particularly not a fan of patchouli in fragrances, it works well in Bud, and I am pleasantly surprised with it. All in all, this is a vivid fragrance that has rightfully earned its place on my “use daily” shelf.

Rich. Oppulent. Velvety. This might be my favorite rose fragrance. This scent is for those who love a deep and rich rose. Unlike the garden freshness of MFK's A La Rose, BUD's rose is dark and seductive, with a hint of fruit. Definitely unisex. One spray is all you need to enjoy this scent for 8-12 hours.

Ka-pow! I was not expecting that. I have Berg and Arid and they’re both pretty faint on me....like gone in 5 minutes. Not Bud baby! She is a grown up rose perfume with a lot of complexity and staying power. It’s going to be a great fall and winter rose!

This. This is one of the best rose fragrances I’ve ever smelled. Sure there may be ones with more complexity, “better” quality aroma chemicals, and my usual meh feeling I get from rose scents but this is truly amazing. It begins with this bright rush of with a rose BOMB, with wisps of this light green pineapple and sweet rhubarb dancing around it. I was immediately worried as it might’ve been TOO rosy for me but that first bomb really settles down into this sweet/boozy/rosy cloud of goodness. The rose and booze definitely sweet but with this nice and masculine mineral like quality to it. Granted, it could be my brain playing tricks on me as I’m staring directly at the notes right now. Haven’t finished my first wearing with this, will update when I do. But this is beautiful, and a perfectly unisex rose scent. EDIT: After my first wearing I have learned firsthand how powerful this fragrance is. I was expecting the potency of the other 3 scents I have tried from Piper and Perro but this is a certified BEAST. I kid you not but it seemed as if 90% of people who walked within 6 feet of me noticed my scent by their reactions. Granted, most if not all were positive or of indifference but with every potent beast you’re gonna have haters. Just easy on the trigger cowpolk and you’ll be fine. The scent itself though is fairly linear, but with the scent just losing potency. Still lasts 12 hours strong on skin and more on clothes, but the idea is still there. Would I recommend? Hell yes. Is it for the faint of heart? No.

I was really taken in by the concept of this – I could definitely see the vision, i.e., how bourbon and pineapple leaf notes could complement a rose and make it more "urban." I like the rose-rhubarb at the top and the rose-vanilla at the end, but both have been done (see: Delina, though this goes much less fussy/princessy due to the patchouli and bourbon notes). With that said, the pineapple and patchouli give it a distinct heart phase on me that definitely reads "pineapple weed gummy" as some have said (or what I'd imagine that would smell like – it's a sugary pineapple with an earthy undercurrent), and the rose is an absolute beast throughout. This projects so hard, it felt like a third entity in the car with me and my partner; I'm not sensitive to fragrance and this induced a major headache for me. As someone who leans more discreet with fragrances (and despises anything reminiscent of cannabis and its associated paraphenalia), I can't call this a love.

It's rare that I'm pleasantly surprised by a rose scent, normally they read mature, or they're overwhelming. But the sweet and earthy-sour of the companion notes really balance it all out, and it gets better the longer it wears. Instead of smelling like potpourri, it smells like rose (amazing!). It may not be something that I reach for, but I appreciate how well crafted it is. For a rose or floral lover, this should be a slam dunk. (7/10)

I’ve received this in mail with hand written note❤️from Piper&Pero. Big city urban rose. On my skin, it opens up with the boozy bread dough note that reminds me of the smell from the bakery factory I used to live next to in my 20ies. The rose note is close to Rose Magnetic Essential Parfums - not fluffy and more dry. A rose made of concrete? This rose doesn’t have a gender.

Feminine leaning rose bomb on the opening, dries into a much more subtle rose sweetened by the bourbon. I can lightly pick up on that concrete accord beneath everything too, something sort of gently earthy. It's nice!

Normally I dislike rose. From the first spray, the Rose is bold and unmistakable, and tolerable, though surprisingly, the bourbon isn’t as prominent as expected. Instead, within seconds, a subtle blend of earthy and mineral notes come through, with a whiff of concrete, grounding the fragrance in an unexpectedly urban vibe. A fresh, green smell surfaces next—likely the pineapple leaf. There’s a whisper of pineapple lingering faintly in the background, though it’s delicate and unobtrusive, adding a touch of sweetness without overpowering the composition. Not sure if that’s the leaf as pineapple is not stated. Around the two-minute mark, the scent evolves, revealing a hint of something almost herbal, maybe even slightly reminiscent of cannabis. It’s subtle, likely a result of the unique mix between the green and earthy notes. The fragrance is intriguing, even daring, but I’m not sure it’s one I could comfortably wear. After about five minutes, the drydown begins to lean a bit synthetic, Still, for someone seeking a truly unique olfactory experience, this scent is undeniably captivating, albeit polarizing. It's a YES for me! You have to like rose to enjoy this, there's no 2 ways about it. It is a prominent note in this fragrance. The rose to me, is sweet (not over the top sweet) and has depth; I almost want to say it's a dry - but definitely present rose. The pineapple may be helping w/ the sweet accord, but I don't necessarily pick up "pineapple fruit" in this, per say. The concrete is detectable...and it is good, it works, it helps! It does add a mineral essence, cutting into the sweetness that's already present, while not completely dismissing it. This is a beautiful fragrance, and it's not complicated. The more you are able to recognize different notes, and layers - the more you can appreciate how out the box this is. And even with its individuality, this is still...essentially, a beautiful rose!!
