It seems a shame that I should consider this fragrance my (current) signature scent and yet say nothing about it. It has a strange spiciness to it and there is something familiar about it but I cannot compare it to anything I’ve yet smelled. It is comforting and indulgently rich, as most vanillic fragrances are, and at the same time, it possesses a peculiar freshness with bite, like a fresh cut jalapeño pepper. It’s a walking contradiction without it being offensively contrary. It’s just plain ol’ interesting. It has been stated in many articles that vanilla is the scent of seduction—something about the old adage, “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach?” This is a coy little minx of a vanilla! I know it isn’t listed but I think some of the kick in this fragrance could be attributed to Egyptian musk; it is very similar to the musk note in SJP’s Lovely. I could not honestly tell you what daisies smell like, as I remember my mother and I planting some when I was a child, and if I recall, they had no scent. Judging from this fragrance, daisies wear gingham mini-dresses with racy underthings. There’s also the poppy and again, I could not tell you honestly what a poppy smells like but it would be my guess that it’s a flower with some backbite. This perfume is the bottled equivalent of the age-old “Madonna/whore complex” and there is something wickedly fun about walking that line. Goodness knows this fragrance is a line-stratling enthusiast.
