“Big Pony 1 Ralph Lauren”.... Boy am I glad I made this blind buy purchase. This fragrance for me is exactly what I look for in a fragrance. Something that is simple yet is very refreshing and clean to the nose, almost as if a clean shower jel/soap feel or even Nice clean laundry I could even imagine. If you like fresh citrusy woody fragrances, then this is for you. I must say I am proud of myself because I searched for lime noted fragrances and for some reason the Ralph Lauren was the one that caught my eye. Everything from the blue bottle presentation with the yellow “1” On the back just made me feel like this was for me and even the note break down with Citrus, woody, aromatic, and fresh spice notes gave me a feeling that I could do no wrong blind buying this fragrance considering those are all of the notes I would usually reach for in A fragrance. I definitely still wanted to play it safe and watched a few YouTube video reviews on this fragrance and even with most of the videos not really selling this fragrance well, I still wanted to try it underneath my own nose and I’m not here to promote any and every fragrance considering I have purchased a lot of fragrances through the years and particularly since last year I have been trying to Revamp my fragrance collection and truly only like about 1 out of every say 4 blind buys I purchase on average, so I am very happy and definitely have that “FINALLY A NEW FIND” feel lol. If you try this fragrance and like it then I would definitely also recommend you try “Tommy Hilfiger TH bold” which I also left a review on and you can read if you like. Has the same vibe with different citruses. Final thoughts on this fragrance, It is definitely more on the youthful side however I will be 29 shortly and I plan to wear this many years to come so therefore it definitely has range And I believe it can be worn at any age or for any man for that matter. The best words I could use to Help imagine this fragrance for you is picture yourself somewhere like a music festival where there’s lots of people and you’re having a good time with your friends, like I said any age could wear this just like any age could be at a music festival. It’s a nice sunny day somewhere in the 80°-90° area and you smell amazing and your confidence is amplified because you smell good, you’re enjoying the day and making memories with friends and even strangers, and life is good. So yeah lol in a nutshell This fragrance is definitely good to keep in a gym bag, every day use, going to school, going to work, hanging out with friends or pretty much anything you need to do in a day, and it defiently has a Tommy vibe, or I could even see it on the shelf next to say Davidoff "Cool Water", very fresh and citrusy. Smell: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10 Projection: 7/10 FINAL rating: 8/10

Softly Synthetic..in a good way! I really do enjoy Big Pony #1. Seems like the perfect scent for those who like colognes that are fruity/sporty/woodsy. This can be worn as casual or business causal. Probably geared more towards Polo collared shirt with kakhi shorts. However, I wear it around the office every now and then and it seems to work nice for me. (Polo or button-up shirt with dress pants.) I am 27 and people are never offended and curious as to what it is. It does smell youthful, but it could go for someone in their upper 30’s easily. It does have what I call a soft synthetic bite to it, but it’s not worse than any other modern cologne. Do yourself a favor and don’t let “cologne experts” tell you what you can and can’t like. Some folks like colognes that have a synthetic feel to them and some don’t. I will tell you that girls seem to have a nose that is attracted to synthetic frags. I get more complements from girls on this cologne than any other one I have. And I have some high dollar colognes! You just need to go to a store and spray a test on. Really check out the whole scent from when you spray it on, to the middle, and the low. I would recommend you try it out and see for yourself.

Got this Fragrance gifted to me about 2 years ago, at first I didn't like it very much, but last summer I noticed how good this fragrance actually is, it's so effortlessly good. A simply, fresh and clean smell, suitable for any occasion. Such a pleasent smell to my nose, yet so simple. Girls really like this scent aswell. Simply good. The longevity and projection lacks a lot though sadly. Smell is a 6,7/10 Longevity 3,5/10 Projection 4,5/10

I'm not the biggest fan of summer fragrances, still trying to find one that I would love and stays on my skin for more then 2 hours... still this one was my choice for 3 straight years, good scent, simple in a good way. I risk to say one can use this fragrance all year long, very simple, safe and clean scent citrus.

Love this fragrance, my Dad brought me a bottle back from one of his trips when I was young and I used it for school. I have so much nostalgia tied to this scent I'm probably biased more than others. Clean and fresh, definitely more suited to a younger crowd. I got a good amount of compliments with this.

Want a foolproof gift for the holidays? Look no further. A safe bet for any age, climate (although this is perfect for hot and humid places) and time of the day. Yes, it’s simple and a skin scent. But it’s so easy to wear. Clean, fresh and unpretentious. Can’t go wrong.

For the price this is a no brainer. Very fresh citrusy clean. Great for casual summer days, after the gym, office school. Very subtle and versatile for the day. Its inoffensive. No one will say omg wth are you wearing. Great starter cologne.

I really appreciate this scent on a man. It's so super clean and gives off wholesome, relaxed, well-to-do vibes. I'm sure there are more notes than what is listed here, at least musk is prominent.

Nostalgia in a bottle, babey. Love it, one sniff and takes me back in time to 2010 during my high school years. Lovely, not special unless it hits you right in the feels.

This is great. Some days i just wanna smell like fresh limes & light woods and nothing more. Plus this gets me great compliments every single time i wear it.

Clean, fresh, and simple... A great fragrance that lacks staying power... Yesterday I wore and wrote a review of Ralph Lauren's Big Pony #4. Next in my rotation is Big Pony #1 (blue bottle). As noted yesterday, I am a true fan of all the Ralph Lauren fragrances - and I do like the Big Pony collection - I have many of RL's signature scents and all of the Big Pony series. In my opinion, Big Pony #1 is the best fragrance in this line. It is a simple fragrance with notes of citrus/fruit and "woods". From the onset, the citrus takes center stage and any "woodsy" notes are lost early on. Not a bad thing, though. The citrus blend is a very pleasant smell and all who like (myself included) citrus fragrances, will love this scent. The issue or concern is the projection and longevity of the fragrance. After an hour Big Pony #1 sits close to the skin and is barely traceable after four hours of wear. I was greatly disappointed.. I do admit, however, that I do like the bottle. Great design and theme. Given the citrus blend of notes, Big Pony #1 is best suited for daytime wear in Spring and Summer. It offers great flexibility/versatility in those months as a safe office wear and that it can be worn to any event in excessive heat temperatures. Should work well in the South Carolina heat and humidity - I can hardly wait..!! A check of current on-line prices indicate that Big Pony #1 is a decent fragrance considering the price/value - you can purchase a large bottle for under $50 USD - not too shabby.. My final tally for Ralph Lauren's Big Pony #1 is 4 stars out of 5 stars. It smells great, but lacks the projection/sillage and longevity to be a major player. For the serious collector, or Ralph Lauren fan, add to your collection. If you are a novice in the game, pass on BP#1 - there are plenty of citrus based fragrances out there with better performance. Find the right one for you (and your budget..). Enjoy your day and make it count... Invest your time rather wasting your time...

My first thought on seeing this one was "O great, another blue scent..." and the display at the fragrance counter said something like 'sporty and clean' so when I sprayed it I was pleasantly surprised... Most limes are bitter then sweet, this is more like a key lime slightly sour and cleaner than most limes but citric yet slightly floral (if that makes any sense). This was the salesgirl's favorite of the four and I have to say, due to the large amount of woody aromatics and citrus scents I have this would be the last one of the four that I will buy. But don't take that the wrong way, they are all good and this one is clean and sporty and as the zestiness mellows there is a hint of something that I cannot describe, other than it is not quite aquatic but not quite green either. It is soft in a floral type of way but not flower-y. The wood is grand and I can still smell an air of what reminds me of when I used to climb a giant oak and read a book on a sunny afternoon. This is not the oak of a whiskey cask or even furniture-this is a living fresh essence of oak that has a woody feel, but also leaves blowing in the breeze and a hint of fresh soil. Not your run of the mill sport-scent but something light enough to be free-spirited and wooody enough to carry itself as an aromatic... Sillage: slight Longevity: 4-5 hours Overall: 3.25/5 All in all I liked this collection more than I thought I would from the PR and think they are just different enough from other RL fragrances but classy enough to carry that name. I was a tad jealous when he released the womens line(Hot, Cool, Wild and Rocks) that the men did not get their versions...these were worth the wait!

Well so, look, I had received this fragrance for a while as a gift, I always wore it almost every day. But when I got more into fragrances I understood more other people's opinions about fragrances. Well what should I think about it, for summer and late spring days it is perfect. I usually wear it before gym because it has such a light scent and not a heavy smell at all. And also at school after PE and before I do some sprays on me. I do occasionally get compliments on it but that's only when I over-spray a little haha. Look, it's Ralph Lauren, the brand itself, so that's already a positive thing about this fragrance. I mean I did expect a little more but I still got it as a gift. Most of the scents that I smell with it is of course citrus but also very much oak, unique combo I think. Since it was also one of my first "expensive" brands of perfumes, I get quite a lot of nostalgic memories from it. So haha I guess I won't spray it for so long anymore. But yes for the price I would get another one. Speaking of quality. I think The Big Pony performs pretty well in terms of longevity. It stays on the skin for several hours before it starts to fade, which is fairly typical for an eau de toilette. I would give it a 7/10 for longevity. As for projection, it creates sometimes a significant scent trail that others around you will definitely notice, especially in the first few hours after application. But you have to over-spray some and top up every few hours interval. But hey, it's a small bottle you can carry it everywhere. That's why I would also give it a 7/10 for the projection.

I was at a duty-free shop before a flight when I found this on sale next to some other offerings for €20. For the same price as one and a half airport beers, why not? I was on my way to somewhere warm, and figured that thus would fit the bill. Once I landed at my destination I sprayed it on. It’s fresh and light, nearly indistinguishable from a sporty shower gel. The grapefruit and lime blend together, and as it quickly breaks down the oak peeks its way out a bit. There’s a synthetic component as well, acting as a middle man and blending the citrus in the woods. It’s not at all unpleasant, and I would argue it adds a bit of depth to the overall profile of this fragrance. After a 3 hour drive from the airport to my destination, this scent was barely hanging on. The projection could be measured in millimeters. As the week progressed, I spent lots of time in the sun, on the beach, at the villa, and exploring seaside villages. I always made sure to spray this on before going out, after showers, and to freshen up periodically. As others have mentioned, the longevity and projection are poor. Keep in mind, that’s not always a bad thing. I’m hard pressed to think of many colognes that are safer and less offensive than this. But whenever I smell Big Pony #1, I’ll always remember that trip, and in that way this scent served its purpose. So if you ever find yourself in a duty-free shop on your way to somewhere warm, skip the beer and treat yourself to a bottle of this.

Lime, wood and more lime with a synthetic vibe. This is what is all about. A nice casual scent, good for summer time, going to gym or for school. It is a very basic scent, all u get is lime and little wood, from the beginning to the end. Sour scent for sure ;) A very safe scent that is difficult to hate. Could be good to give as a gift to someone that doesn t wear cologne, would be a good way to start. Longevity and projection are weak, so it make it good for occasion that u dont want to get notice too much or if u dont need to have a scent that will last for a long time. Girls do love it, so it could be a good option if u are dating a college girl :p Not a bad one, but not an amazing fragrance. Something to try for hot weather or if u are planning to sweat a lot, for exemple, before playing tennis with your new date by an hot summer day ;) Here is my score for this fragrance: Smell: 8/10, lime, lime, lime, wood and lime. Not bad if u like lime and sour scent. Projection: 2,5/5, notice by a few, but sit close to skin. Good for summer use. Longevity: 2,5/5, got around 3-4 hours with it. Versatility: 3/5, good for daily use, hot weather, some day date, casual or office. Not for cold time or night out IMO. Overall: 16/25, something to try if u like sour lime scent.

My favourite from the Big Pony Collection. Also, most likely the lightest fragrance i've ever smelled. Completely linear drydown, a little woody (oak), but very hard to recognize, i mostly detect the lime - this is the dominant note. Besides these, it has a kind of fruity aroma. On the whole, it smells like fresh air, really. Very simple but pleasant fragrance from Ralph Lauren with the blue attitude that Polo Blue has, but in a completely different way. It's more like an "airy flavour" - gypsy parfumista has written the perfect words already, let me quote him: "climb a giant oak and read a book on a sunny afternoon". This is it. Not more, not less. A little bit synthetic-smelling, but it attaches to these kind of fragrances. You know, a necessary bad. I wear this if i want to feel myself fresh in the hot weather, after a cold shower. That's all. Too simple for anything else. The people will detect that you smell good, but you won't impress anybody. Good for spring and summer, longevity is reasonable, about 4-6 hours, altering. Sillage is not so bad, i would say almost good considering the lightness of the juice. Good price, easily affordable. The blue bottle is clear and nice - nothing extreme though. Seems like water in it. Well, almost. Give this a try.

Reminiscent of a cleaning solution. It also reminds me of some sort of fruity candy. It smells slightly synthetic, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing in this case because it works. I’m not sure if Ralph Lauren Fragrances intended to create a natural citrus scent and failed, or if the fragrance is supposed to smell artificial. Nevertheless, it smells fresh instead of sterile. How it smells isn’t my favorite, but it’s not bad by any means. What really leaves something to be desired is its performance... it barely lasts 3 hours. It is an intimate fragrance. Easy to become nose blind to. I only wear it if I want to wear something for the sake of wearing something, especially if it is short-living; its performance doesn’t bother me since I have this specific use for it. The atomizer sucks, so you have to over-overspray for it to be noticeable by yourself and, if you’re lucky, others. I bought my 3.4 oz bottle at T.J.Maxx blindly for $19.99. I wouldn’t have bought it if it was any more expensive. 5.5/10

This is one of my favourite fragrances and was my signature fragrance for a while The fragrance is very fresh and clean, it smells like you have just had a shower There is a strong smell of lime, it is definitely like a fresher, sportier version of Polo Blue Every second year, the Christmas gift sets come with a body spray, the body spray is really nice and lasts for ages. Unfortunately this year, the gift set contains a shower gel, which is a bit of a waste as I use so much shower gel I really like the Big Pony range with the exception of 2, which is fairly vile. I have BP1, 3 and 4 in my fragrance rotation at the moment As other reviewers have mentioned, this is really a young guys fragrance, however it works on anyone below 40

This fragrance is not talked about enough, Let me explain. So this is a great citrussy summer linear fragrance and i'm gonna give you the note breakdown rn: I can really smell the blend of grapefruit and lime and a little bit of oak i would say its 70/30, the only thing that bothers me is the lime is kinda overpowering the oak but its alright after a couple of hours. This smells like a summer day in the Mediterranean where you're playing a sport like tennis or golf. It is casual, maybe a bit sporty and suitable for all ages. Nice fragrance 8/10

Smells like magic. Everyone here says it's synthetic. It's okay. It doesn't come across as cheap at all. The lime and grapefruit smells like candied but there's some airy ness to it. It's like a sweet airy grapefruit and lime with woods to give it based. It's mostly the citrus. Very good casual scent. Fresh clean. Doesn't last too long. 4-5 hours. Now projection and sillage is weird. It doesn't project normally, it randomly gives people magical whiffs. Good to wear at home when you have someone over or something. Not bad

This was my first cologne I bought in my early 20s. I got it with the free duffle which is descent quality. As for the cologne it's a good smelling cologne very youthful a good daily wear. The smell is very bright citrus on top with a wood smell. The problem is the smell is WEAK. The scent sticks close the skin. You need multiple sprays to even have a decent sillage. The Longevity is terrible, at least on my skin, it disappears after an 1.5 hrs. There's better blue colognes that sillage and longevity works better

I’ll keep it short and sweet. It’s a decent flanker. If you’re going to go for one of these flankers that polo did in the early 10s go for polo red white and blue. That one is amazingl It’s very light and reapplication is needed at least every 4 hours if you’re trying to get noticed. It’s ok for what it is. I grabbed a bottle at the airport in Atlanta for $35 which I thought was fair for 4.2 Oz. I don’t wear it nearly as much as blue or red white and blue. Scent 7.5/10 Sillage 7/10 Projection 7/10 Longevity 6/10

I picked this up in 2012 as a replacement for YSL Live Jazz, that at that time sadly had become very hard to find. Though not at all a great fragrance as Live Jazz, I actually like this and I would say that it is somewhat underrated. It is fresh, masculine, invigorating and has a kind of "preppy" feel to it (which to me, is a positive). I remember I did get a confidence boost when I used it. It's true that it's quite a simple fragrance though, so if you wear it often you'll probably get a bit bored with it.

A blue perfume. Sporty and non-spicy. Lasts between 3-6 hours. A perfume if you do not want to stand out, as it is not very strong. It is a very common perfume. + 10 years old, and not sold anymore. I did like it quite a lot. 4/6 stars from here. Would I buy again? Yes. This is the best office perfume I have ever tried in my life. If you work in corporate with conservative co-workers and CEO's, this is perfect because it goes very under the radar. I am sad that I do not have much left of it. Great job!

It says its scent belongs to the citrus group. In my opinion, it doesn't. RL Big Pony 1 gives a combination of fresh, aromatic and woody scent to my nose. It's not very offensive but rather, it has a long longetovity and is very subtle. I sprayed twice on my arm and had a shower after and the scent is still there. Very similar to RL Polo Blue which is marketed more for older men (25+) but this RL Big Pony 1 is more suited for adolescents to young men (13-24). 9/10/

Pretty basic cheap citrus fragrance. It was my first ever cologne. If you have a great main summer fragrance, this can be a fresh and cheap alternative fragrance when you don't want to waste your more expensive go to, which is exactly what I used to do. Highly recommend for teenage guys that do like citrusy colognes with a sharp lemon opening and don't have much to spend on fragrances. 8/10 if you are 14 years old, 6.5/10 if you are older.

If I could sum up this fragrance with one word, it would be camping. This is the perfect camping fragrance. I can imagine wearing this one a nice summer morning in the woods camping. With the blast of freshness and pine i get from it. It's nothing crazy, but if you want a good camping fragrance this is the one haha. It's super fresh and shower-gel-ish like you just took a shower in a pine forest.

This is quite similar to Banana Republic M EDT, but it's noticeably lighter. The scent is predominantly citrusy, with a strong emphasis on lime. Despite lasting only about 1 to 2 hours, it's ideal for its purpose. It's especially great for the gym or casual outings. I really like that it's a light cologne I can quickly spray on before heading out. 6.7/10

Very classic "man" scent, citrus is the only thing I can smell even after it settles but not bad at all. Price is ok, got it at a the airport for like 20$ but even the normal price is OK. I'd say it's good for gym/a really hot day that you know you'll be sweating your ass off. Other than that, wouldn't be wearing it anywhere else.

very watery and not super strong - but it is decent for the price point. my mom gave it to me and it's totally a scent that your mom would gift you (and I say this on a positive note, I love my mom!). It's simple and harmless, I would recommend it for a day in which you want to smell nice but can't wear anything overpowering.

good fragrance for laying in bed on a summer night and for when you want that "fresh out the shower" smell. other than that i dont see much of a purpose for this fragrance. smells great but has terrible performance. its viable for a gym fragrance, but i wouldn't try to pull a gym baddie wit this.

I abosulely love Big Pony #1. To me its the best out of the series. It opens with a lemon lime note and dries down to a sweet woody scent. Perfect for spring summer casual wear. I got the oil of this for 5 bucks a boi i tell you its even better than the EDT. WOOOOOOOOOOO

Don't take someone seriously whose signature scent is a clone from some cheap arabian brand and someone who recommends not only nautica voyage, but dupes aswell... AHEM... (@judetoorealyt) Smells good, but as others have mentioned, unfortunately doesn't last. Smell 7/10

Nice citrus (mainly lime) fragrance. Reminds me very much of Tommy Bahama: St Barts. Smells great but the performance is non existent. You’ll get an hour tops with low projection. If you find it for $20, pick it up for a nice cheap summer fragrance.

The tones used in this are simple but well-chosen and work great together. Sweet citrus that has a lovely fresh young energetic feel. It might not be the most refined or complex of scents but it's easy going and friendly for everyday wear. 3.8/5

This is an EDT with a simple and straightforward flavor, slightly green woods with notes of very fresh input. It really is too subtle fragrance, I think you be able to advertise better as Eau de Cologne instead of EDT.

It’s ok. I picked it up on sale for 30 and that’s about how much it is worth. Smell is nice but longevity is not. It’s a good gym scent and good for a hot summer day but that’s it.

I have it, it's not a bas fragrance, smells fresh and citric and it feels like the safe option for the summer, but for that price I think there are better summer fragrances for it

Good decent EDT but its really weak, smells fine for a simple man, but if you parfume collector or looking for long lasting fragrances i would go something else.

I bought this from a cruise ships tax free shop for 30€ and im not dissapointed its a good fragrance for just everyday wear

Smells great but projection is week and longevity is 30 minutes before becoming a skin scent.

I have changed my ratings to "very weak" and "intimate". This fragrance is trash in the fact that it doesn't last longer than 30 minutes and that is after spraying 10 sprays. I guess if I were to find value in this fragrance it would have to be as a post workout fragrance to make you fresh smelling until you got a shower at home and put on something else to go out. It is a shame that it is trash because it smells nice and would be great if the frag would last all day. I have a routine when I buy fragrances; and that is when when I unbox them, I spray the long hallway walls about 10 times so that when I walk down them, I smell the opening, and then after 15 minutes I walk down them again to smell the heart notes, and then walk down after an hour or two to smell the base notes. I do this so that I can get a true sense of the fragrance without the possibility of being nose-blind to them (this happens with some fragrances over others) Some fragrances last all day, some last two days, and the beasts last all week. This one... sadly didn't last more than an hour. I love the way Ralph Lauren Fragrances smell, but I think they purposely make them poor performing so that you will buy more often, or try something else. They are mass appealing, but maybe if they do not last long, you will spray them more often and thereby use more product. It just makes me want something else.
