Tubereuse Hédonie

If Diptyque's Do Son is a sophisticated, sensual "cool girl" then Roger and Gallet's Tubereuse Hedonie is her quiet, twinkling younger sister. EDIT: I originally stated that Tubereuse Hedonie lacks the sparkle and magic of some of my favorite Tuberose fragrances. However, as I come to the end of my bottle I have completely changed my tune. This is beautiful. Green, effervescent and slightly bitter. Almost like a fresh aromatic tuberose opposed to some the creamier gourmand like scents of the same flower. I still stand by my statement that this is a sheer tuberose and jasmine scent that I would put in the "your skin but better" category. However, I have to change my mind and say that the pink pepper is ABSOLUTELY present, and dusts the entire bouquet with a beautiful linear spice quality. Soo good. As before, it’s lovely... A tuberose for non tuberose lovers. And for those of us who have a particular affinity for this indolic white floral, Tuberose Hedonie is the perfect easy reach, for when the mood is all about the simple quiet things. I’ve gotten many compliments on it and I would say wholeheartedly it’s entirely and uniquely gender neutral. And a great buy for the price!

Tuberose Hedonie is not as "hedonie" as it states, BUT, it's a truly wonderful, youthful white floral; perfect for the ones who want to start messing with white florals but don't want to go straight to Ysatis or Alien. Honest floral, doesn't smell synthetic to me at all. Stays close to the skin and last little less than 5 hours. The scent is a true refreshing option to escape from the gourmandise hell we're in. Very summery scent; if you're bored from Light Blue, have a sniff of Tubereuse Hedonie. It's a good take on tuberose. It's not the Poison tuberose (latest formulation), but it doesn't have to be jealous. Tubereuse Hedonie is closer to Twilly Hermes. It has a spicy, green, vegety opening. There is a nice blast of neroli and petitgrain before a green-luminous tuberose settles, not powdery, don't worry, along with a softly tropical jasmine. Gorgeous!

This is my second summer wearing this delightful little thing. It has become my go to summer 'fume as I reach for it without hesitation or deliberation. Well, when it's hot and sticky, wearing the wrong thing is just another thing to suffer trough that you don't need. Sometimes, I crave it. Like I crave Carnal Flower and that's saying a lot. Actually, it helped with my Carnal obsession. It's perfectly wearable all year, but it really shines in summer. It behaves like a cologne, all bright and refreshing, but has a longevity of edp. At least on me it has. Rather humble price permits me to spray it with abandon and as often as I please. So far no one complained so I see no reason why would I stop. Even better, it's one of the most complimented perfumes I have. The body care is also a delight not to be missed. Great stuff.

I'm wearing La Chasse aux Papillons on one wrist and Tubereuse Hedonie on the other. They are identical. Both beautiful, light, happy and fresh tuberose-jasmine-neroli florals, and smelling exactly the same. If I really press on to "find the difference", Tubereuse Hedonie seems to last longer (though it may just be that I sprayed a little more of it) and possibly with a slightly sharper tone when developing. I am happy to have them both, just because I went for the 15 ml version of the Hedonie, so I can use it as a travel version of La Chasse :)

Simple but very effective way of showcasing a tuberose. Every ingredient is there to enhance natural facets of this flower. That hint of celery is a stroke of genius. There is so much respect of the ingredients here. A lot of houses could learn a thing or two from Roger & Gallet. It's humble. As much as tuberose is capable of being humble, that is. I can't help being impressed by the quality, performance, simplicity and overall charm of it. Without exaggeration, one of the best tuberoses I ever tried.
