Jasmin Antique

Revisiting Jasmin Antique today and I forgot how strong the opening is. I definitely oversprayed. My first impression the very first time I tried this was complete fascination. It smelled intoxicating, indolic and overgrown, like a once lavish estate slowly being reclaimed by time and nature. I described it as Gucci Bloom’s gloomy witchy sister and I still stand by that comparison. They share that lush white floral realism, but Jasmin Antique feels older, dustier and much more composed. There’s something aristocratic about it. The more time I spend with it though, the more complicated my feelings become. At first I was convinced I needed a bottle immediately, but now I’m starting to separate admiration from actual craving. I ordered a sample of this one and two others and of the three, Bread and Roses from Pearfat was the one that stole my heart emotionally in a way this one hasn’t, even though I think Jasmin Antique is probably the more impressive perfume artistically. What keeps pulling me back in is the dry down. The opening is dramatic and almost overwhelming, but after a few hours it settles into something creamy, powdery and intimate while still remaining fairly strong. This is where it really distinguishes itself from Gucci Bloom and Imaginary Author’s Fox in the Flowerbed for me. Gucci Bloom mostly fades away once it dries down and Fox stays fairly consistent throughout the wear, but Jasmin Antique transforms. It collapses inward and becomes softer, warmer and almost comforting without losing its richness. It feels mature in a way that makes me understand why people become obsessed with these older indolic floral styles. At this point I don’t think I need a bottle immediately, but I also can’t deny that this feels special.

Now I have to say this smells really lovely and better than I was expecting. The jasmine is fresh, full bodied, well rounded and intricate displaying different nuances. It actually smells better than the Egyptian Jasmine which is the fragrance that made me fall in love with the note. It's like the creator has taken the natural jasmine smell and enhanced it so it smells like it's in hi definition. It opens with fresh jasmine blossoms and I did pick up slight indolic (skanky note) for the first half hour but it was just so slight it enhanced the smell instead of overwhelming or unbalancing the composition. Then for the next few hours everything goes full throttle and you are surrounded with a beautiful jasmine accord which shows you different facets ever-time you smell it. In fact it's amazing how he has made a soliflore smell complex and deep. Very beautiful! After the first few hours I can smell cloves which add a warm spicy slight woodsy feel just enough to complement the jasmine. This is joined by a dash of vanilla just to add that je ne sais quoi to the mix. All in all it smells very beautiful and natural smelling with enough depth to have you sniffing yourself all day long. For me there is a certain magic with the jasmine note especially when smelled at night on a balmy warm evening.

Is this the jasmine perfume to end all jasmine perfumes? Maybe not, but it's pretty darn close, and this coming from someone who hates, (I should now make that past tense), hated indoles in perfume. But after having received numerous samples of this strictly by chance, so many in fact I was able to give some away, (maybe someone up there was trying to tell me something?), and testing it on more than one occasion, has given me a major change of heart. Now I adore this perfume, indoles and all. Yes, it's very indolic on first spray, but after 20 minutes it mellows out and suddenly, I'm covered in luscious jasmine blossoms with just the barest trace of clove and vanilla. Linear, yes, but I don't care, and actually prefer that since the jasmine flowers are heavenly here. I really don't want that intoxicating phase to ever end, and with this fragrance it won't, as the longevity is stellar. I love jasmine perfumes, in all styles - clean, beachy, sweet, day, night; and now can happily add dirty to that list too. This stunning fragrance has converted me into a true believer. I will never turn my nose up (or away) from indolic floral fragrances again. I just wish this was available in a bottle bigger than a 2.5 oz. Come on Manny, give us a 5 oz. option!

Beast-like giant jasmine. I forgot all the other ones I bought, I only remember Jasmin Antique. Beast-like giant jasmine. The scent was so strong. Jasmin Antique's indole and musk are loud enough to shake the world. The folk song "Jasmine Flower" has been sung since the reign of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. There seemed to be nearly 60 people in the auditorium, singing "Jasmine Flower", right in front of me, all in high spirits. The strength is stronger than the real Jasmine. Jasmin Antique is stronger than real flowers and cannot be ignored. In the evening, I photographed these large jasmines with thick petals, curled edges, and a slightly brownish tinge with a retro color filter. It's sexy and charming. Jasmin Antique shows the beauty of jasmine in its mature and eroded state in the hot and humid air. Everything exists for Jasmine - it's the only protagonist. The structure is simple, but the effect is not inferior to any outstanding jasmine, all thanks to the raw materials. Best choice for jasmine.

A dewy green jasmine, not waxy indolic or vinyl as expected but rather bright and slightly sweet. Jasmine essential oil tends to be funky when worn, so I'm impressed with the palatability of this perfume. It is still quite niche though. This isn't your typical designer candied white floral bouquet; it leans more towards sour honeysuckle or a new green banana, feeling grassy, natural and aromatic with mild sweetness, as if blended with freesia. This is exactly what you'd expect a hummingbird to taste when drinking the flower's nectar. Very deep and nuanced, with just the right balance here between the realistic and idealized. If you love jasmine and aren’t afraid to make a statement with a vividly botanical perfume, this is absolutely worth a try-- challenging, but not too much. Unlike Fracas, which to me only smells good up close, this one would be excellent as experienced by others in sweet greenish wafts as you pass by.

Beautiful natural-smelling jasmine. Starts out indolic, salicylate-heavy like SL A La Nuit. Once that wears off, smells like jasmine flowers right on the verge of passing their prime, full, rich, and warm. The only other note I can detect is a woody base, which is supposed to be sandalwood? Not loving the drydown since it smells more like saw dust to me. Don't hate it, just don't love it. Edit: I've grown to really love and crave this jasmine- including the dusty wood (which seems less prominent on moisturized or "dirty" skin). May need a bottle... I did a side-by-side w/ Lutens A la Nuit and the Lutens is flat and lifeless in comparison- and I used to really like it. My other jasmine loves for reference are Grandiflora Madigascan Jasmine (lush and greener) and the Diptyque Essences Incensee Jasmin which was full and warm. Lush Lust has a similar scent quality (more corn-y, yellow smelling) but is too much for me.

Jasmine, considered to be a feminine note happens to be my most favorite among all florals. And Jasmine Antique presents it in a dirty, gritty way so much so that it might be unwearable for many. It starts with indolic ajsmine which comes across very balmy or camphorous. As the fragrances dries down, balminess recedes into background but does not fade away completely making room for cloves and vanilla. The balance between spice and sweetness is such that it does not tip into one direction altogether and holds up the jasmine on its back throughout the life of the fragrance (which is excellent, by the way). For me personally, this is epitome of Jasmine dominant fragrance and yes i have tried/worn Sarrasins by Serge Lutens. A floral masterpiece, in my books.

Unexpectedly beautiful! I'll be honest, upon first spray I was worried I made a mistake as all I could smell was harsh cloves, but as it sat on my skin after a few minutes it softened into the most beautiful, romantic, gothic vintage jasmine I've ever smelled. I closed my eyes and could picture an inky black night in 19th century Japan, a doll like woman in a black silk robe standing on a wooden bridge with overripe jasmine falling into the dark, moody river below. That's really how I view this perfume, as a dark mysterious night surrounded with beauty, and a hint of something a little creepy hiding beneath the beautiful flowers. Fully Yin and dark. If this perfume were a goddess, it would be Hecate, or Selene in her dark stage 🌑

Rogue Perfumery fragrances remind me of the many rooms of a stately mansion, full of intriguing discoveries around every corner. Taking time to explore them has been very rewarding. No less the Jasmin Antique. It captures an intoxicating wave of jasmine blossoms on the breeze extremely well. I put it right up there with A La Nuit, but actually I like Jasmin Antique even better. Opulent, rich, beautifully nuanced, with the indolic aspects of real jasmine balanced with the fresh blossom just so. How lovely it is! I can wear it all day too before it turns fully to a skin scent, so as one whose skin eats many florals, I'm blessed. If you love or even mildly admire jasmine soliflores, give this one a good sniff!

I’m incredibly particular about jasmine notes in perfumes, always on the hunt for the dirtiest, most indolic jasmine out there. I decided to try a sample of this fragrance after seeing a review on TikTok, and I must say, the way this house blends jasmine, musk, and clove is pure magic. While I don’t love the opening—it leans heavily on the clove—the dry down is absolutely stunning and deeply comforting. This fragrance delivers a more indolic jasmine vibe, though it’s not quite as “dirty” as I’d hoped for. That said, I still adore it. There’s none of that fresh, green, cut-flower aroma here—just rich, intoxicating warmth. I’ll definitely be purchasing a full bottle.

Indolic, lush, decadent, voluptous and mindblowingly rich with an intensity in the opening that even has me stunned. I didn’t expect to be blown away by a soliflore jasmine, but this is indeed intoxicating. Only other jasmine having that effect on me is Sheldrake's Fils de Joie, where the night bloomers are almost wall-like in their density. A dream come true for any passionate lover of jasmine, but not for the faint at heart as it’s borderline suffocating. Dry down is more gentle with a hint of cloves and a deliciously soft-spoken vanilla. A masterpiece that sets a pretty high standard for future perfumers trying their luck with the tropical bloom.

...Yep, it's jasmine. Just jasmine. Reference jasmine. Light, airy, uplifting white floral. Dry, slightly powdery, pollinic even. Opens weak, becomes strongly indolic -- borderline poopy -- around 20min, then levels out after another 20min. Very authentic jasmine blossoms. Strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 5-6hr from my roller ball sample. I think I lean toward Champs Lunaires between Rogue's two big white florals, because of the briefly strong indoles here, but they're different enough to enjoy both equally. My mom is more sensitive to the indoles and hated this, though, so beware. Nonetheless, the sillage is divine.

This is SUCH a pretty Jasmine scent!! Super realistic, but with an extra sweet/woody note in there which in my opinion, turns it into a Unisex (though femme-leaning) Jasmine scent. As soon as I put it on, my girlfriend said “this smells like a nice antique store” and she was spot on. Like those old, clean but not too clean, vibey, small business antique/thrift stores with lots of old nice carpets, high quality wooden furniture, little trinkets and possibly vinyl records. It’s an incredible smell. If you like thrifting specifically in that kind of shop, and you like Jasmine, I couldn’t recommend this more.

One of the best jasmine centric fragrances I have ever smelled. Full bodied with a vintage style but in no way feels old fashioned. The jasmine is a bit indolic, and that is enhanced by clove, so if you’re not into either this won’t be for you. But if you are it is holy grail material. Manuel has a nose for classic perfumery with a near perfect balance with a heavy use of naturals. Always feels like “real” perfume. His prices are also reasonable, especially for the quality of what you’re getting. Not just quality materials but quality work. If you love jasmine and vintage fragrances this is a must try.

Yes, yes and yes! This one is firmly aimed at perfumistas who love pure, strong, unadulterated jasmine. So far, my list of the best / most realistic jasmine fragrances included Lush Lust, Nasomatto Nuda, Carthusia Gelsomini di Capri and Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge (plus a honourable mention: Guerlain Jasminora). Today I'm very happy to add Rogue Perfumery Jasmin Antique to this list. There isn't too much to say about Jasmin Antique: it features jasmine front and centre, supported by some very faint vanilla, musk and spices. It projects magnificently and lasts for hours. As far as I'm concerned, 10/10.

Wow. Manuel is incapable of making a fragrance that is less than spectacular. This is gorgeous and I've been waiting for the release of this since I got a sample a couple months ago. Yes, jasmine is the star here, but the musk and cloves really provide support for what is seemingly a simple fragrance, but deceivingly simple...it has complex nuances. I normally have an aversion to cloves in fragrance, but this is blended beautifully. It just provides a little background kick to the indolic jasmine. This is a fragrance that would work any time of the year.

Just bought a full bottle! This is BEAUTIFUL! I sprayed a sample of it on myself and went out shopping on a hot day, let me tell you every time I got a sweet whiff of myself I was in complete heaven. It truly felt like I was a majestic angel just gracefully floating through the world leaving a magical trail of jasmine and sweet powdery vanilla. PERFECTION! Can't wait for my bottle to arrive!!!! oh and btw, I don't get any spice from this, I was very confused reading all the reviews that relate this to being "dark" but I could just be missing something!

While I love the scent of jasmine flowers, that quick attention seeking, foggy sweetness, I have up to this point - never found a fragrance that came anywhere near to the real thing. This scent will fill that gap in my fragrance wardrobe. I detect a little greenness, which I am happy to have. Like jasmine blossoms, the scent is very “now you see me, now you don’t, and here I am back again.” Jasmine Antique lasts longer on clothing than my skin, which is fine by me. A continual and ongoing blast of any fragrance would bother me.

Yep, jasmine all right, nuclear projection. Its pricey but you get what you pay for - pure quality. My small decant is almost done now. If the indoles were dialed down a notch it would be top ten, but tbh I'm very concious around others when wearing. It leans feminine. This perfume might work on special outdoor occasions (eg wedding etc etc). It could also be a bold signature fragrance for a bold female. Indoors, amongst untrained noses, this will likely be too much for most (sorry jasmine lovers!). 3.5/5

It is indeed a pure and perfect night blooming jasmine - dare I say it’s The Best spray version jasmin. Like well-blended perfumery should be, you don’t particularly get the vanilla, cloves nor musk as they just add a backing of structure and dimension to the soliflor jasmine. It’s perfection, it just doesn’t last more than a few hours, which is my deal breaker. So my search is on for a beautiful jasmin like this but one that lasts and I think it may end up being an obscure oil/attar.

Pure bliss. My jasmine blooming in the back garden in the summer. It's not the same carnal musky jasmine in Lush's "Lust". It IS a sillage bomb for the first 30 minutes but softens quite a bit over the course of the day. Be careful not to spray too much on clothing will hang around a lot longer. Jasmin Antique is pure white flowers on a warm summer day with a drydown that is more like fresh linens or warm skin. This one was actually a blind buy, but I'm very happy with the purchase.

This is a simply constructed but really beautiful jasmine fragrance. It has a musky facet, but it never comes even remotely close to that dreaded 'urinal cake' territory - something some people might worry about when approaching an indolic, musky floral. The animalic touch is well tamed, and it shifts the scent from a pleasant but slightly predictable soliflore into something more elegant and refined - a jasmine with just enough of a twist to keep things interesting.

Lush, heady, narcotic, this jasmine packs a luscious punch. It is not subtle. But if you love jasmine it is necessary. More is more. Spritzing Jasmin Antique at dusk transports me pronto to dining al fresco on a canyon patio as the light comes in sideways & golden. California dreamy. Kept the sample rollerball on the table in our NYC yard all summer & seduced many nose noobs with delicately wafting wrist swipes. Most successful conversion strategy yet.

A really big lovely jasmine. Not too fat and indolic. The clove note comes through for me and makes this interesting... then on longer wear vanilla but there's also a sheen of something kinda lemony and clean. Just barely. This feels like jasmine and the vine - not just a pile of condensed white flowers. I waited a long time to use my sample and thought I would be bored (so many white florals out there...) but I'm not. I'm rather fascinated.

I finally understand what people are talking about when they say that jasmine can be indolic. This is the skankiest, richest jasmine I have ever smelled. It's lots of jasmine with a wee bit of musk, plus a lot more jasmine. It's funny how different our noses and skin chemistry are - someone else described this as a modest scent. To me, this is a very flirty hot weather scent. Mixed with sweat, I imagine this would be extremely suggestive.

Just purchased a 30ml of this. This is a dark, dirty jasmine fragrance. There are many pretty jasmines but this isn’t one of them. This is indolic, overripe, mothbally and realistic. Smells as if I’m walking past my neighbor’s Jasmine bush in May. The guy below me has a point, it has a bit of a tobacco quality to it in the background. The name is perfect. It has an old school boudoir vibe to it. Pretty! 8.5/10

A straight forward, hard working Jasmine; linear but spectacular representation with indole characteristics. Although powerful in the opening, downside for me is this didn’t last long— about an hour before turning to a skin scent. Edit: like to a LOVE. spraying is so much better than the mini rollerball. Got several hours of performance from three sprays. This is very pretty.

Indolic jasmine, deeply intense with shades of very green banana peel that gets warmer, muskier, and spicier as the scent develops. Feels like you're literally drowning in jasmine. Warm weather, this type of jasmine needs heat to properly bloom and be enjoyed. Projects majorly off my skin, as most jasmine scents tend to with my body chemistry.

This fragrance on a hot summer afternoon is *chefs kiss*! So sensual, even sexual at times, that exudes “come hider” vibes... definitely a must buy for me. I don’t care that this is targeted towards females, I will be snaking off indolic jasmine next summer. I wish that animalic opening stuck around a little longer. A must try for sure.

Spectacular. Simply one of the best jasmine soliflores I have ever tried. I have 2 small samples. It is so potent that I should get plenty of wears out of them until I need a full bottle - and I will be purchasing a full bottle. Warning - if you are uncomfortable with indolic jasmine, this will probably not work for you.

Very realistic jasmine, in which I can not only smell the flower but also the leaves and stems, a sort of slightly bitter, vegetal freshness behind the sweet, indolic floral scent. It really feels like I am smelling a jasmine plant, which I love. Such a enthrallingly graceful, ethereal, mysterious scent, like moonlight.

I am hunting down a rich, heady, warm-hearted jasmine - one that is true to life, like sticking your face in a clump of jasmine in full bloom. This lovely fragrance is ever so close to truth. For a big part of my life, I've been on a search of that perfect jasmine fragrance. The fragrance that will do justice to the jasmine flower I love some much. I have many good ones, a few great ones and now I own the perfect one. Rogue perfumery made my dream come true.

Not skanky, but very, very sexy. I was a big fan of Lust by Lush but the stale breath smell jasmine scents often open with never wore off and there was something very musty about the smell. This scent does not have that problem. A perfect, perfect jasmine scent.

A late-afternoon jasmine in bloom soliflore. No aldehydes or musks. Not waxy, soapy, nor stale. No bells and whistles. Just the fresh, open flowers...and lots of them. The longer it’s on your skin, the more the scent deepens. Lovely!

wow this is gorgeous. it's a realistic jasmine with a hint of clove. it doesn't read as clove per se, just something a bit spicy in the background. love this. it's a warm evening and it's the perfect perfume right now.

Absolute LOVE!!!! Smells just like a jasmine bush in the evening, but with a more bubblegum quality — not a sultry scent, but totally intoxicating and lush. The sillage is outrageous.

Is it just me or does this fragrance feel like it goes with shoulder pads? To me, this feels like a big, loud 80s floral in the best way.

If you are a jasmine lover, this has to be in your collection. The great fragrances dont need a long review. Its a winner.

Lovely, sweet jasmine, which leans a little bit dark and heavy like thick drapery. A hint of cloves/spice. A hint of indoles. My reference jasmine soliflore is Jasmin T by Bruno Acampora, and to my nose Jasmin T EDP has a more indolic profile, some green notes which Jasmine Antique does not have, and more prominent cloves. I feel like the sweetness of JA comes more from the vanilla and musk and somehow feels darker with some dustiness or powderiness, while the sweetness of Jasmin T is more directly from the jasmine flower and is clearer and brighter even though also more indolic. I don't know if my perception is partly the power of suggestion coming from the name "Antique" jasmine in JA though! Sadly, the longevity on my skin is only a couple of hours - although, I am using a dabber sample so perhaps the method of distribution affects this aspect. If I hadn't found Jasmin T this might have been my go-to jasmine soliflore, as it is quite beautiful.

Jasmin Antique is just a big fuckoff jasmine, bright and juicy with ruby-red and purple facets. Lots of dripping nectar, a little bit of a musky rasp, a fair amount of natural sweetness. A "slutty" jasmine with plenty of indole. It's nothing original but it's a good jasmine. My favorite jasmines are a bit lighter and fresher -- I still think nothing beats Serge Lutens' A La Nuit for smelling like a real jasmine vine in bloom -- but if you like "lusty" florals without too much fuss or extraneous ornament, this is a solid example. (It's a little bit like Lush Lust with the extreme sweetness turned down a notch, for instance.) Despite the name and Rogue Perfumery's usual retro aesthetic, there's nothing especially old-fashioned or vintage about Jasmin Antique; it feels quite contemporary.

This is a really, really beautiful jasmine soliflore. I'm sampling with a dabber, so maybe I'm not getting whacked over the head with this thing in the way I'd be if I were spraying with wild abandon, but, at least to my nose, this isn't terribly skanky. I do detect some indoles in there for the first few moments, but it's now settled into something that's just plain pretty. I don't mean that in a bad, boring kind of way. I could see someone wearing this to an al fresco dinner in spring. The price ain't bad (30ml for $95 at Lucky Scent), so it might be a buy for me.

This fragrance is one of my favorites in my collection. This scent stands out from the rest as it is more of a mature scent. The main notes I detect in this fragrance are Jasmine, Clove and some Musk. Definitely not traditionally sweet or "youthful." I wear this fragrance mostly at work. Being in an office setting, I find a modest scent, in my opinion, to be most appropriate. I get the most out of this fragrance when I spray it on my clothes. I have noticed this fragrance becomes faint only an hour or so after spraying it directly onto my skin.

I agree with the reviewer who described this as "jasmine flowers right on the verge of passing their prime". I have no idea how the perfumer did it but he's given it that funky odor of a flower that's so ripe it's nearly overripe. It's so realistic I'm in awe. The ripeness is strongest during the first hour and dries down into a more powdery, green, jasmine that doesn't waft as far from my arm as the first few hours of wear. This perfume is like sinking my face into a blooming jasmine vine on a humid evening in the deep South.

Reminds me of my first Jasmine essential oil I got when I was a kid. There used to be these like clay ornaments and you put the oil in and put a cork in it...then they scent your room or car or wherever. I had one that was a cherub and just sniffing the Jasmine oil helped relax me so much and brought me tiny bits of happiness. So when I first smelled this perfume and it was identical I was so very happy. This perfume is VERY strong though. Like one spray will fill a room, strong. If you like Jasmine definitely get this one!

Stanky, skanky, but alluring nonetheless. This should be the definition of indolic - you get a handful of jasmine blooms in their prime but the majority are past their prime on the verge of rotting -- but strangely enough I dig it! Contemplating a full bottle because it's comparatively affordable, but I think I need to test this more extensively in warmer weather - I can see this becoming suffocating during a hot, humid summer.

This is an incredibly realistic MONSTER of a jasmine scent. It is absolutely gorgeous but not for the faint of heart, and the faint of heart apparently includes me. I really admire everything I've tried from Rogue (Vetifleur is a masterpiece) but I also don't find them wearable - for me. If you love strong, extremely well-made scents, you really need to check them out.
