Tuberose & Moss

First off I am a huge Rogue fan as I think their creations are unique and beautiful. Rogue's Antique Jasmine is stellar as it embodies a true thick heady jasmine blossom in the heat of a humid summer. Being also a fan of old school mossy scents (i.e. Paloma Picasso, Safari, Aromatic Elixir) I was excited to try Tuberose and Moss. I was expecting maybe an "Antique Tuberose" with a heavy moss note, but what I got was something different. T and M smells like you took a really high quality white triple milled French soap and lathered it to the point that it becomes a thick and creamy paste. Its soapy smelling but not necessary "clean" smelling if that makes any sense. This is rich and luxe all the way, and of course unusual as all Rogue's creations are. I'd say this is 85% soft creamy tuberose and just barley 15% moss as the moss note is subtle and gives this just a touch of depth. I admit I was a little disappointed at first (I was expecting a moss bomb and this is definitely not), but after wearing this a few times, I've quickly grown to love it. Unisex in a way that the smell of Nivea Cream is; a man or woman could wear this. Soft, supple, rich and luxe smelling is how I would describe T and M. This is a must for tuberose fans, as it is a totally new approach. Thumbs way up.

I'm intrigued by Rogue Perfumery and its back-story. I think Manual Cross is pretty talented and committed to the art of perfumery. After blind-purchasing a full bottle of "Jasmin Antique," disliking it and selling it, I decided to try a sample of "Tuberose & Moss." Tuberose & Moss is incredibly nice. A much better experience than Jasmin Antique. T&M opens and performs as a straight-forward, slightly sweet, non-bitter tuberose flower. The fragrance is more flower versus green leaves, stems, etc. To my surprise, T&M is not green, it is not indolic. T&M is a bit creamy, smooth and ethereal, which is a nice touch (for me) with any tuberose-centric fragrance. Basenotes are vanilla, woods and a bit of black-pepper. Seems a rather weak performer, for what it is. Develops as a skin scent. Minimal silage. Very very nice. Not sure if it's unique enough to put out the dollars for a full bottle. But I like it a lot. EDITED TO ADD: Couldn't stop thinking about this fragrance. Purchased a full bottle. I like the fragrance a lot. But it seems I have to continually reapply to get the fragrance level I'm accustomed to.

I agree with review below. This smells like a very pretty bar of white floral/tuberose soap. A touch animalic and a touch sweet. I had a gift set of fancy tuberose soaps given to by a friend of mine. I adored them and used them all. This perfume reminds me sooo much of those soaps. There are times when I like to smell soapy. This also reminds me of vintage white shoulders. But it is a bit vanillic and white shoulders was not. Also white shoulders had more floral notes. It's like the bare bones base of white shoulders with just the gentlest touch of cream. This is really pretty, soft, demure. There is a pillow soft moss here as well. The moss is so soft it could be used as bedding. I really adore this much more than the jasmine antique. I think I may just prefer vanilla with tuberose and not in jasmine. If you like pure white bar feminine white floral soap scents this is the best one I've ever sampled.

Tuberose is known as "Ratkirani" in East India, which means "Queen of the Night". I was initially concerned about whether indole could be overdose and cause discomfort. After wearing it, I was relieved that Tuberose & Moss is the tuberose I can live with and love. The tuberose texture gradually becomes mellow, opaque and creamy. I don't feel moss exists, but it should control the sweetness of tuberose. Speaking of similarities and differences with other tuberoses, Tuberose & Moss is between Nasomatto Narcotic Venus and Frederic Malle Carnal flower, they are holy and beautiful, almost flawless , Tuberose & Moss is a round pearl, wrapped in a thick layer of fine velvet green carpet.

Another excellent tuberose perfume from Rogue Perfumery. The tuberose is to me similar to that in Champs Lunaires, but in context with the real oakmoss, I like it even better. For one thing, the oakmoss seems to help the longevity for me; this one lasts on my skin, unlike Champs Lunaires. And I love real oakmoss! For me this is not a bubblegum tuberose, not highly indolic, nor having the "wintergreen" aspect, but closer to the tuberose in Hiram Green's Moon Bloom. It's gorgeous. Tuberose & Moss also reminds me of vintage 1990's Hermes 24 Faubourg. Not that they smell the same, but having the vintage style vibe of lush white florals with real oakmoss in the base.
