Tuberose & Moss

First off I am a huge Rogue fan as I think their creations are unique and beautiful. Rogue's Antique Jasmine is stellar as it embodies a true thick heady jasmine blossom in the heat of a humid summer. Being also a fan of old school mossy scents (i.e. Paloma Picasso, Safari, Aromatic Elixir) I was excited to try Tuberose and Moss. I was expecting maybe an "Antique Tuberose" with a heavy moss note, but what I got was something different. T and M smells like you took a really high quality white triple milled French soap and lathered it to the point that it becomes a thick and creamy paste. Its soapy smelling but not necessary "clean" smelling if that makes any sense. This is rich and luxe all the way, and of course unusual as all Rogue's creations are. I'd say this is 85% soft creamy tuberose and just barley 15% moss as the moss note is subtle and gives this just a touch of depth. I admit I was a little disappointed at first (I was expecting a moss bomb and this is definitely not), but after wearing this a few times, I've quickly grown to love it. Unisex in a way that the smell of Nivea Cream is; a man or woman could wear this. Soft, supple, rich and luxe smelling is how I would describe T and M. This is a must for tuberose fans, as it is a totally new approach. Thumbs way up.

I'm intrigued by Rogue Perfumery and its back-story. I think Manual Cross is pretty talented and committed to the art of perfumery. After blind-purchasing a full bottle of "Jasmin Antique," disliking it and selling it, I decided to try a sample of "Tuberose & Moss." Tuberose & Moss is incredibly nice. A much better experience than Jasmin Antique. T&M opens and performs as a straight-forward, slightly sweet, non-bitter tuberose flower. The fragrance is more flower versus green leaves, stems, etc. To my surprise, T&M is not green, it is not indolic. T&M is a bit creamy, smooth and ethereal, which is a nice touch (for me) with any tuberose-centric fragrance. Basenotes are vanilla, woods and a bit of black-pepper. Seems a rather weak performer, for what it is. Develops as a skin scent. Minimal silage. Very very nice. Not sure if it's unique enough to put out the dollars for a full bottle. But I like it a lot. EDITED TO ADD: Couldn't stop thinking about this fragrance. Purchased a full bottle. I like the fragrance a lot. But it seems I have to continually reapply to get the fragrance level I'm accustomed to.

I agree with review below. This smells like a very pretty bar of white floral/tuberose soap. A touch animalic and a touch sweet. I had a gift set of fancy tuberose soaps given to by a friend of mine. I adored them and used them all. This perfume reminds me sooo much of those soaps. There are times when I like to smell soapy. This also reminds me of vintage white shoulders. But it is a bit vanillic and white shoulders was not. Also white shoulders had more floral notes. It's like the bare bones base of white shoulders with just the gentlest touch of cream. This is really pretty, soft, demure. There is a pillow soft moss here as well. The moss is so soft it could be used as bedding. I really adore this much more than the jasmine antique. I think I may just prefer vanilla with tuberose and not in jasmine. If you like pure white bar feminine white floral soap scents this is the best one I've ever sampled.

Tuberose is known as "Ratkirani" in East India, which means "Queen of the Night". I was initially concerned about whether indole could be overdose and cause discomfort. After wearing it, I was relieved that Tuberose & Moss is the tuberose I can live with and love. The tuberose texture gradually becomes mellow, opaque and creamy. I don't feel moss exists, but it should control the sweetness of tuberose. Speaking of similarities and differences with other tuberoses, Tuberose & Moss is between Nasomatto Narcotic Venus and Frederic Malle Carnal flower, they are holy and beautiful, almost flawless , Tuberose & Moss is a round pearl, wrapped in a thick layer of fine velvet green carpet.

Another excellent tuberose perfume from Rogue Perfumery. The tuberose is to me similar to that in Champs Lunaires, but in context with the real oakmoss, I like it even better. For one thing, the oakmoss seems to help the longevity for me; this one lasts on my skin, unlike Champs Lunaires. And I love real oakmoss! For me this is not a bubblegum tuberose, not highly indolic, nor having the "wintergreen" aspect, but closer to the tuberose in Hiram Green's Moon Bloom. It's gorgeous. Tuberose & Moss also reminds me of vintage 1990's Hermes 24 Faubourg. Not that they smell the same, but having the vintage style vibe of lush white florals with real oakmoss in the base.

Mmmm, this might be my vanilla perfume of choice. Starts fresh and floral, obviously, ends in musky, creamy vanilla and the hints of tuberose never fully vanish. Yum. I rarely enjoy the start and end of a scent equally, so this is nice. And why settle for a straight vanilla scent when you can get a bright kick of florals in the same run? If I were a perfume maker, I'd mix this with some pencil shavings and call it "school teacher". I see that this has been voted in as a night time scent, and I think that's a great idea... i wonder which scent would be a springy, daytime precursor, to wear together?

I sampled this Rogue several months ago and remember liking it so I put it on again today because for some reason I forgot to write a review. Tuberose and Moss is true to its name; this fresh Tuberose sits on a bed of green vanilla pods. It’s spiced and creamy but only lightly so. A real stand out and another affordable niche offering for those that love Tuberose and white florals. Also, this is one of the easiest to wear from Rogue.

This is a rich, buttery tuberose but the moss really grounds it and adds interest. Whereas Champs Lunaires is a fresher scent, Tuberose & Moss has depth, presence and complexity. I wouldn’t describe this as a unisex fragrance, I consider it feminine. Not flighty and sweet, but warm, rich, and round. I wouldn’t want my man to smell like this - I want to keep it all for myself!

Absolutely beautiful! Right up there with Moon Bloom as a game-changing tuberose perfume. It’s a big, freshly-plucked tuberose soliflore with enhancements of softly-whipped vanilla cream and a touch of moss in the base. I have a sample directly from Rogue Perfumery, and one dab to the wrists lasts forever. Atomic strength here. THIS is PERFUME! Bought a bottle.

Review is based on a roller-ball sample. Smells really good, like real tuberose. Dries down kind of incense-y, but I'm not sure if that was the perfume or the remnants of Battaniye on my sweater. Amazing projection for the first 30 minutes or so, then quickly becomes a skin scent. Still good enough that I'd like a bottle.

Manuel Cross's use of tuberose is absolutely stunning, and has lead this and Champs Lunaires to become my favorites from the house. This one is a bit earthier and wetter than the bright white Champs Lunaires thanks to the oakmoss. It also has a curious woody drydown. I think it's lovely.

The quality of Rogue perfumery offerings is wonderful. Tuberose and Moss is an elegant white floral in the grand vintage style. The indoles are muted and grounded by the mossy musky base. Lush and womanly. This is no trite confection. Nice sillage and 8 hours longevity.

smells like being a girl who is kinda naked in the moon in a forest clearing. smells so lovely but does not last long at all. on the dry down it gets a wee bit waiting room vibes but still nice

Ohhhhhh, my. Oh, this is very dangerous. This is my first try of a Rogue frag. Spashed on from a sample bottle with the roller top removed. (I tried to fit an atomizer to the bottle, but didn't have anything on hand that fit.) I'm going to hazard a guess here. I am going to guess that the use of natural ingredients apparently no longer common is why this is sending me on a head trip back to my grandmother's apartment. I'm pretty sure I've smelt tuberose notes in something before, but this... This started out nice. That's all. Floral. I liked it. A "reminds me of my grandma" smell I thought at first was the nice soaps she had out. A few minutes later, it began to have some depth, more like standing out in a beautiful flower garden. Now, I like the smell of flower gardens. I generally don't prefer to smell like one, but I enjoy being in them. And this... this smelled like being in a _good_ one. And so it went, further and further in that direction for a while, then began to dry down, without losing that character. I will say that it sort of peaked, then pulled back, and now has plateaued at a mild level, maybe almost not much more than a skin scent, for a few hours. The longevity at this plateau has been decent but I honest would have loved to have reeked of this at full strength for 6 or more hours. Who am I kidding? If you could get a tattoo of a smell I'd be tempted to get this one and just smell like this forever. Let me give you some context: one of my absolute favorite smells in the world is the flowering Victorian Box Tree. We've got a bunch of them near where I live, and in a good year they bloom about 4 times, and I just love it. Functionally, the scent is very much like jasmine, I have good jasmine incense that's close enough to do the trick, let's call it jasmine for practical purposes. Anyway, again, not something I necessarily want to smell like, but something I do reeeeeeally like the smell of. The thing I like about jasmine-type scents is hard to pin down, but as I've said before, it's shared by chocolate, maybe by roses, although even roses don't do it like victorian box blooms do. It's not even the specific scent, but more the "shape" quality of it — broad, round, warm, full, organic, deep and complex yet unified. I saw another reviewer compared T&M to Creed Royal Mayfair. I only had a small sample of that and it's been a few weeks but the comparison is apt. I thought that smelled amazing in and of itself, but wasn't the type of scent I could pull off. Somehow, this, though, despite being heavily floral, and much more towards what I think of as women's perfume than at all what I think of when you say the word "cologne", I think I can work this. I will say I had to refresh after about 4 hours. It smelled amazing, just slightly less amazing. It reminds me of a three-point-landing comedown from the Jesus acid that was going around when the Dead passed through Seattle back in '95... you're still at cruising altitude, it's still amazing, just suddenly, somehow everything is jumping just a little bit less. I still smell tuberose lingering on my robes the next day. It's flatter, though still very nice, but could easily just be the smell of good hand cream at this point.

Tuberose & Moss - the name caught my attention . It sounded very unisex , though I preferred feminine based scents. But the combination sounded intriguing and yes it is! This is my second sample from the house of Rogue and I’m very impressed . Very well made and comes across as a luxurious brand . I fell in love with the Champs Lunaires and was considering buying a bottle, but held back cause I was trying twenty other samples . I’m in love with white florals and been trying to figure out which I love the most , tuberose , Jasmine , LOTV or gardenia . Tuberose to me is a very potent , flamboyant scent that tends to be overpowering . But this mixed with moss and vanilla is just glorious . I prefer this to Champs Lunaires as it starts out mesmerising and stays that way all the way through to dry down whereas I was rather put off with the top notes of CL being too minty . I can’t wait to try the other fragrances from Rogue cause I’m hoping I’ll find a masculine counterpart for my hubby .

This is another of Manny Cross's splendid retro chypres--he seems to never run out of ideas for them. This time he evokes the post-War love in the US and France of elegant feminine chypres, with this one heavy on the tuberose, which is balanced by the earthy moss. But it's not as coldly smooth as many of the famed Dior fragrances of the time: this is (gladly) a bit more ragged and wild. It's not as overpowering as some of Rogue Perfumery's other florals (such as Champs Lunaires or Jasmin Antique), although its projection is still noticeable.

Smells like its namesake if you ask me, a white floral tuberose with a heaping dose of oakmoss. Starts more mossy and gets more tuberosic as it dries down, projecting with a soft fuzziness that gently lifts from the skin. Underneath lies a creamy vanilla base that never intrudes on the main notes. Moderate-strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 6-7hr with the roller ball sample. All-around pleasant but unspectacular to me, I prefer Champs Lunaires between Rogue's two tuberose scents but I think this one is more unisex.

Sweet, comforting, velvet-y smooth tuberose. This one is fluffy, creamy, soapy, and soft - just as the combination of vanilla, whipped cream, musk, and oakmoss would lead one to believe it would be. My one negative remark would be that so many of the notes lend towards one direction or accord-like feel, and there isn't enough dissonance to make it stand out as unique. A woman who wishes to be discreetly elegant would certainly benefit from this, young or old. Timelessly classic 7.5/10

A tuberose for those who dosen't like white flower. It’s got this rich, creamy tuberose that hits you right away, with that classic old-school perfume vibe. There's a big punch of white florals, but the heart of it all shifts from just flowers to a soft, sweet vanilla cream. It makes the scent feel smoother and more enchanting.

A beautiful lush tuberose, creamy, green and a tiny bit spicy. Old school but not dated; smells very natural, like burying your nose in a bouquet. Reminds me of vintage Diorissimo, but with tuberose instead of lily of the valley.

Very tuberose forward in addition to being very linear on me. The tuberose begins to settle down after an hour exiting stage right as the creamy vanilla cedar enters stage left to remain on the stage for three to four hours.

Smells like a high quality soap bar from my childhood decades ago... Sweet and creamy, yet fresh tuberose. Very soft and feminine. Smells great, but a bit boring, prefer tuberose scents more animalic .

Let me start by admitting that tuberose never really does it for me. However, even I have to admit that the sweet creamy tuberose here is something to behold. There's a familiar underbelly of Rogue oakmoss that creates a soft nest to hold the tuberose in. I'm sampling this next to the other Rogue tuberose fragrance, Champs Lunaires. This one is notably sweeter and fluffier, while Champs Lunaires is sliced with tart pomelo rind. It's a real testament to the quality of this fragrance that I find it hard to say something negative even though it is definitely not my style. I think this is discontinued - I do not see it listed for sale on the Rogue website. Edit to say: the whipped cream note is giving baby powder and shaving cream this time around, and this overly clean soapiness makes this less compelling to me.

I feel Tuberose & Moss treats tuberose as an obstacle to be overcome, rather than embracing it for its brash star power. There is obviously tuberose, a slightly bubble-gummy one, but it doesn't get to shine. Tuberose can have so many facets - mentholated, buttery, animalic, heady, bubble-gummy, coconutty, and on and on. Here, the tuberose is one-dimensional. It is also very sweet in the top notes. The oakmoss is there, and the dry-down is spicy, green, and a little salty. Overall, I find Tuberose & Moss a bit muddled and confused. 2.5/5

Rogue Perfumery crafts quality scents. This leans floral/rose and feminine. A very pleasant fragrance with strong performance. While I would wear Le Labo Rose 31, and own and love Creed's Royal Mayfair, this one is a pass. Other offerings from RP are more to my liking.

this tuberose is bold and this perfume reminds me of 80s-style white florals. i mostly get tuberose with oakmoss and musk. this tuberose is not sheer and light, nor is it thick and creamy like fracas, but is rather bold, bright and a bit heavy.

All of Rogue Perfumery's fragrances are categorized as unisex. However, Rogue's website has the fragrances divided into a Men's page and a Women's page. Tuberose & Moss is only found on the Women's page. Nevertheless, since it's sold as a unisex fragrance, I'm reviewing it from my male point of view. Simply put, Tuberose and Moss is a totally feminine perfume. There's no way I could wear it. It opens with a blast of a strong floral tuberose. Didn't get much more than that. Fortunately, I only sprayed it on my wrist. After 30 minutes, I had to scrub it off. Totally awful. Nothing more to say.

I was excited to try this in my pursuit of a tuberose signature scent. The opening is intensely soapy and musky to me. Milky, Vanillic notes become more apparent as the soapiness wears off. The jasminy aspect of tuberose is a little more apparent in this than in others I've tried. It also lacks the mentholated facets of tuberose I've found overwhelming in other perfumes. I tried this before bed so I wasn't able to consciously experience hours +1 to +7 of the drydown. At hour 8 it was a beautiful sweet skin scent. I caught whiffs of it throughout the day. Now at 17 hours it's still detectable as faint labdanum and white florals. I'm not sure if it fulfills my hopes for a perfect tuberose. The moss is not a stand out note for me. I have to search for it and even then it's hard to know if i'm accurately picking it out. Still it feels clean and luxurious. If I have any new observations when I try again and get to experience the full progression I will add them here!

Rogue Perfumerie's Tuberose & Moss is a recommendation I received from writer and journalist Rachel Syme over on Twitter. I asked for a scent that smelled like Tasha Tudor's goth great-grandaughter, and she recommended to me Tuberose & Moss. This is a stunning scent and if I'm honest, I'm annoyed at myself that she knew of it before I did. It's plush white florals and earthy leathery dreamy oakmoss and woody, close to the skin musk; it's classic perfumery with a wink. While there's definitely that sense of powdery, vintage glamour, it's lensed through a cracked-looking glass, there's something shimmering and strange about it too. It's the faded photo of Siouxsie Sioux reading Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit that never existed in this world, but I'm certain it does in some other reality.

I love the effect of the deep, rich oakmoss supporting the tuberose- such an unexpected and yet natural combination. I have a bottle of pure oakmoss, and I can say this is plenty of the real thing. Nothing evokes an ancient mossy fairytale forest like oakmoss for me, and I love all things tuberose, so I am in heaven and can’t stop smelling my arm. As with all of Rogue, these wonderful elements that have been missing from modern perfumes are so welcome- and at the same time, these are modern treatments of the ingredients- there’s none of the fustiness or over-complicated formulation that unfortunately comes with some actual vintage perfumes- just imo. This is modern & interesting, with rich gorgeous ingredients.

Rogue Perfumery loves Tuberose and this is the most subtle of them. Opens with a lovely allspice, slightly citrus from the labdanum, soft and perfumy. Tuberose and cedar appear a few minutes later in an inspired woody-floral note nothing at all like the grand Flos Mortis tuberose declining into decay. This is peppery cedar-infused tuberose redolent of oakmoss and smelling like classic perfumery. There are no divas in this; it's carefully modulated and balanced. Reminds me of a woman in love, singing softly to herself in a shady forest, feeling whimsical and expansive. Beautiful, soft floral chypre. The vanilla in dry-down is gorgeous. Fluffy creamy macaron meringue buttercream vanilla frosting with a brulée crunch wreathed in a garland of sultry, rubbery white flowers. How did my sleeves get so puffed? How much hairspray do I even need? Are those real pearls, or just more sugar? Is it too hot in here? Am I dreaming? Am I six? No! We're in a 1980s wedding, enveloped in yards of satin, tulle, and whipped white confectionery. Sweet sugar and sweeter white florals and vintage sweat. The tuberose is BIG. The moss is mostly decorative. Depending on your tolerance for vanilla and sugar, this could be a fantasy cloud ship with a forest-elf crew...or death by marshmallow fluff.

I love! For anyone who likes heavy florals this is great! It’s a lush old world flower shop where the shop owner smokes inside like Paris not so long ago, it reminds me of the old perfume stores in New Orleans. Extra plus for simple but beautiful and small size bottle! I believe mine is 30ml I love a travel friendly size yet elegant and beautiful on my dressings table. Thank you Rouge perfumeries, this is what I was looking for in penhaligons but never found

smirky...... why would you sample a scent with whipped cream and vanilla and expect something masc 4 masc...... this is for divas only. without really getting tooooooo crass. sweet fluffy and buttery tuberose with a really beautifully complimenting bitter and airy mossiness. the way they play on each other is such a delight it keeps swirling into my nose and distracting me. i hate gourmands and cloying sweetness so i was worried but this is not that at all.

The brightest tuberose I have ever come across! It reminds me of lily of the valley with its neon green nuances. The heart of the fragrance becomes more serene with the oak moss and the cream joining to ground and sweeten the composition. It never gets too sweet or cloying, the tuberose keeps it fresh the whole wear. This perfume is like a white pearl for a classy lady.

To me the top and heart phases of this are fresh milky sweet tuberose After an hour I finally noticed the moss, it reminds me of mistouko minus the spice, dries down pretty - almost almondy . 3-4 sprays medium projection Several hours
