1775 Classic For Men

Love the lime burst in the opening and how fresh it smells without overpowering. Need to overspray and reapply as it is not long lasting but for 12 dollars at discount stores that would not be a problem. The only one that would compete at that price is Nautica voyage which is stronger and longer lasting. The bottle looks great on display

Perfumes are designed to appeal to a wide range of people, not just one individual. Acknowledge the craftsmanship, and if a scent doesn’t work with your body chemistry, that’s understandable. But there’s no need for a negative outburst. This is a fantastic presentation.

I like this one! I bought it from Perfumania a couple of years ago as a "Manager's Special" for around $20. I wore it once or twice and dismissed it as another cheap-smelling Cool Water clone. I think I even gave the bottle away. I came across it again the other day at Stein Mart and picked up a bottle again. The store was closing out, so I got it at a very deep discount. I was surprised to find that it actually smells nothing like Cool Water; I would compare it more to something like KC Vintage Black or Polo Big Pony #1. But in fact, it's fairly unique. Super refreshing, the lime and mandarin are bright and prominent. The citrus top notes blend almost seamlessly into the musky amber base. The rosemary is subtle, but potent enough to lend some character and texture. It does have a certain 90s freshie feel to it, but that's just fine by me. Pleased to have rediscovered this one :)

I was hoping to have discovered a hidden fragrance gem, but alas, no. With citrusy notes on the top, herbaceous ones in the mid, and a musky base, it smells like any number of summer freshies. Think Azzaro Chrome, Perry Ellis 360 Red, Aramis Adventurer (minus the marine note). Nothing groundbreaking. Still, a nice, pleasant smelling fragrance. Sadly, performance on my skin is poor, disappearing even as a skin scent in a couple of hours.

I got this fragrance from a sale at perfumania in the beginning of my fragrance journey.You definitely can find this fragrance cheaper.It's a great fragrance citrus opening with aquatic tones, a great summer scent.I really like it it just does not last long or project a lot, but at a cheap price this fragrance is worth it and you can apply heavily. Really soft and refreshing. Great for guys with sensitive pallets. Crisp citrus. I do like it better than Light Blue because it is absent of the white fuzzy musk note.

I really wanted to like this one, but I am unfortunately disappointed. It was a blind buy. When I first saw it, I thought it would be Royal Copenhagen moving up-market and delivering a richer, finer cologne than OG Royal Copenhagen, what with its "1775" moniker and beautiful bottle. Royal Copenhagen (the original), with its drugstore, powdery, old-man floral smell, is a fragrance I actually like. This monstrosity is definitely inferior to original Royal Copenhagen IMHO. The opening is quite harsh. Strong and chemically, but that quickly fades away to almost nothing. The citrus is sort of there, but it smells more like bergamot mixed with Windex. It is not what I would call "blue" or "fresh" (I think of the great Nautica Voyage as that.) It is sharp and rough, and not in a good "woodsy" way. Longevity is poor, with the aroma nearly gone after 30 minutes even on clothing or paper. It's as if this product contains a lot of cheap denatured alcohol, and not much in the way of lasting fragrance elements. I was curious about the rest of the 1775 line, but now I think I will avoid. Better to spend your money on something like Cool Water. Even the Cuba’s are better. I'm using my 1775 Classic as screen cleaner for my laptop. For that, it works well.

1775 is just fine. Owned for a while. I also recently bought Versace Pour Homme (VPH), and I can notice the difference when side-by-side...but otherwise, both are fine fresh scents. You can probably get 1775 for much less than VPH, and you'd still smell fresh and clean. Most scents don't last long on me so I can't comment on longevity. I'd guess average projection, and just ok sillage. As I started my fragrance journey these past 2 months, I'm finding to my novice nose, I start to notice all these "blue/fresh" scents have a commonality about them, that make them all good with not much difference to be noticed except for the trained nose. Each one smelled great to me and I wanted to get it..then I smelled another one, and wanted that one instead...and so on... That's why I bought VPH, when maybe I did not have to. Choose one you like for the price you like, and you'll be happy.

On my skin, the lavender and cypress are very prominent and provide a cool counterbalance to the warm citrus notes. The spice and other herbal elements take a back seat. Definitely in the category of cool / "blue" fragrances, but like foreignshores says, not at all a clone of Cool Water. Seems a bit more refined and less 90's frat house, but still a great year-round clubbing / going out fragrance. A rather weak EDT, I can give this four sprays to the chest without flooding the room (which is rather unusual for me.) The level of function of the atomizer isn't great, but it doesn't really matter. Not especially long-lasting. The only thing on my wish list would be a little less musk.
