Violet Sandalwood

Violet Sandalwood by Sand + Fog was a blind buy, and on paper it sounded beautifully promising. The scent pyramid largely aligned with what I expected, though the sapodilla note gave me pause from the start. On my friend, it smelled exquisite. The fragrance unfolded in a way that felt smooth, rich, and effortlessly elegant. On my skin, however, it was an entirely different experience. Something in the composition turned unsettling on me, enough that I felt compelled to wash it off almost immediately. I suspect the sapodilla note may have played a role, though whatever created that effect was difficult to define. What surprised me most was how dramatically it changed when layered. On a whim, I added a few drops to Bath & Body Works Milk body lotion, and together they became absolutely heavenly. Neither one fully worked for me on its own, yet combined they created a soft, creamy, beautifully blended fragrance that felt far more harmonious than either did alone. The pairing transformed Violet Sandalwood into something far more wearable and luxurious, smoothing out the aspects that felt jarring and bringing forward a milky, velvety creaminess.

I can't place this scent. Out of the bottle it smells like something oddly familiar- hairspray, cleaning chemicals, candle? Something out of place, almost like it's not supposed to be a perfume. It caught me off guard in the store and I honestly hated it but I just couldn't shake the desire to keep smelling it so I bought it anyways. By the time it dried down on my arm on the drive home I was completely obsessed. It's such a unique scent profile and I want to drown in it. It's fresh, a little soapy, and so ephemeral. As soon as the scent leaves my nose, I almost forget what it smelled like and need to chase another whiff. The effect is addictive. For someone who usually HATES florals with a passion, I'm lovestruck. This makes me think of desert rain. It's so light and pleasant but just radiates gorgeousness. If you want a niche, bright, spring flower type of scent this is worth trying out.

(Review of 5ml Bottle) It's honestly pretty mind-blowing that something THIS cheap can actually smell this good. I've reviewed a couple other scents from this brand and I'd always been pretty shocked at how insane the value is for these. 15-25 bucks at most places you find them... and it's VERY worth it. This one is my favorite I've tried out of everything currently available for review on Fragrantica. Calming, nostalgic scent for me, like some slightly dusty bedsheets in a room where the window's open; and a spring breeze takes the scent of the forest in the backyard right into the house. It's simple, florals and woods with a bit of dust. Lovely... I can imagine layering with this must be incredible. If you see any of these out in the wild, go for it. Be sure to give it a whiff before comitting though - sometimes oil based perfumes like this tend to spoil when they're in stores.

This in comparison with my Mojave Ghost sample is nearly spot-on! What an incredible find at TJ Maxx. The lasting power is equivalent if not better, but it sits a little closer to the skin. In warmer weather it does project though. I have always loved the scent profile of Mojave ghost but can’t stomach the luxury perfume price. I’m a bargain perfume girl at heart and this just makes me so happy. It’s sweet, clean and has a grounded sandalwood note that really helps it last. I find the fruity sapodilla note to be so delicious in this! I feel like this is a year rounder because it’s not citrusy, but it does fit the clean profile without being too soapy. (But it has more character than your typical clean perfumes) Bottom line: get this!🌸💜

I bought this on a whim at TJ Max for $17 and since purchasing it, it has become one of my favorite's. It has a light sweet and musky scent with a hint of violet. I often layer it with other floral perfumes. It does not project at all on me, but my husband and kids say they love the scent when they come in for a hug or cuddle. I'm considering purchasing the Eau de Toilette version of this in hopes it lasts longer and has better projection. If I do I'll update my review. Also you can add a few drops this to an essential oil diffuser to make your house smell amazing!
