Violet Sandalwood

Violet Sandalwood by Sand + Fog was a blind buy, and on paper it sounded beautifully promising. The scent pyramid largely aligned with what I expected, though the sapodilla note gave me pause from the start. On my friend, it smelled exquisite. The fragrance unfolded in a way that felt smooth, rich, and effortlessly elegant. On my skin, however, it was an entirely different experience. Something in the composition turned unsettling on me, enough that I felt compelled to wash it off almost immediately. I suspect the sapodilla note may have played a role, though whatever created that effect was difficult to define. What surprised me most was how dramatically it changed when layered. On a whim, I added a few drops to Bath & Body Works Milk body lotion, and together they became absolutely heavenly. Neither one fully worked for me on its own, yet combined they created a soft, creamy, beautifully blended fragrance that felt far more harmonious than either did alone. The pairing transformed Violet Sandalwood into something far more wearable and luxurious, smoothing out the aspects that felt jarring and bringing forward a milky, velvety creaminess.

I can't place this scent. Out of the bottle it smells like something oddly familiar- hairspray, cleaning chemicals, candle? Something out of place, almost like it's not supposed to be a perfume. It caught me off guard in the store and I honestly hated it but I just couldn't shake the desire to keep smelling it so I bought it anyways. By the time it dried down on my arm on the drive home I was completely obsessed. It's such a unique scent profile and I want to drown in it. It's fresh, a little soapy, and so ephemeral. As soon as the scent leaves my nose, I almost forget what it smelled like and need to chase another whiff. The effect is addictive. For someone who usually HATES florals with a passion, I'm lovestruck. This makes me think of desert rain. It's so light and pleasant but just radiates gorgeousness. If you want a niche, bright, spring flower type of scent this is worth trying out.

(Review of 5ml Bottle) It's honestly pretty mind-blowing that something THIS cheap can actually smell this good. I've reviewed a couple other scents from this brand and I'd always been pretty shocked at how insane the value is for these. 15-25 bucks at most places you find them... and it's VERY worth it. This one is my favorite I've tried out of everything currently available for review on Fragrantica. Calming, nostalgic scent for me, like some slightly dusty bedsheets in a room where the window's open; and a spring breeze takes the scent of the forest in the backyard right into the house. It's simple, florals and woods with a bit of dust. Lovely... I can imagine layering with this must be incredible. If you see any of these out in the wild, go for it. Be sure to give it a whiff before comitting though - sometimes oil based perfumes like this tend to spoil when they're in stores.

This in comparison with my Mojave Ghost sample is nearly spot-on! What an incredible find at TJ Maxx. The lasting power is equivalent if not better, but it sits a little closer to the skin. In warmer weather it does project though. I have always loved the scent profile of Mojave ghost but can’t stomach the luxury perfume price. I’m a bargain perfume girl at heart and this just makes me so happy. It’s sweet, clean and has a grounded sandalwood note that really helps it last. I find the fruity sapodilla note to be so delicious in this! I feel like this is a year rounder because it’s not citrusy, but it does fit the clean profile without being too soapy. (But it has more character than your typical clean perfumes) Bottom line: get this!🌸💜

I bought this on a whim at TJ Max for $17 and since purchasing it, it has become one of my favorite's. It has a light sweet and musky scent with a hint of violet. I often layer it with other floral perfumes. It does not project at all on me, but my husband and kids say they love the scent when they come in for a hug or cuddle. I'm considering purchasing the Eau de Toilette version of this in hopes it lasts longer and has better projection. If I do I'll update my review. Also you can add a few drops this to an essential oil diffuser to make your house smell amazing!

Gorgeous. Think powdered violet pastilles and sandalwood soap. I don't normally like soapy gourmands but this is an exception. It doesn't smell contradictory, or dated -- it's simply elegant. This reminds me of my grandmother, who loved both of these little luxuries and taught me the importance of self-care. It also reminds me of early-2000s Anthropologie, minus the hideous pricing. I think this is really special and so I stocked up on it. I read that Violet Sandalwood was inspired by Byredo's Mojave Desert. I haven't smelled the latter, so can't comment.

This is one of my favorite scents. I’ve never smelled Mojave ghost but if it’s similar I’m sure I would love that one but I probably won’t ever buy due to what I’ve read about Byredo and longevity. I love this clean, woody, violet smell. This is not the lipstick powdery violet smell either ... idk how to explain it but when I wear this, it feels airy and clean. I live pairing with other clean fragrances

B E A U T I F U L... if you love Mojave Ghost, you must try this! I don’t think I will need to spend the extra coins on the real deal with this near perfect dupe available. I actually prefer the perfume oil over the perfume atomizer, the bottle is quite lovely too 💗 (this oil being compared to Mojave Ghost is what led me to discover this house, and so far I’ve found many loves and only one loss)

Picked up from TJ Maxx, a nice affordable oil! Smells classy, sweet but clean, doesn’t smell artificial at all. I got a good 6 hours of wear out of it which is awesome! Haven’t smelled Mojave Ghost so can’t compare but if it’s supposed to smell similar then this is a much more affordable option. Great for violet lovers

This is supposed to be the dupe of Mojave Ghost, but I have no point of reference for judging whether it’s a good dupe or not. What I do know is that I really like this! It could be a little less powdery before drying down, imo, but I get compliments whenever I wear it and it works really well with my body chemistry.

This fragrance is fantastic to me. Very easy to wear while being unique especially as a man. Not best performance but decent enough. It definitely leans feminine because of the florals but not overpowering. Extremely good for layering, specifically, layering fragrances that are too loud or rich for an occasion.

this was love at first smell and I've gotten so many compliments wearing it! this is my new favorite, and it's so fun to layer it with other stuff. Lately I have been layering with Ariana Grande's Ari Body Mist-- which is just marshmallowy-musky-florally on me. smells so clean and a little sweet.

Picked this up at TJ Maxx for $15. Mojave Ghost but stronger. Love this!!! If you dig Mohave, get this!!!! I'm almost 60. This could be a signature scent for me. Not to faint not to strong but I can smell it on me all day long. Smell it on my clothes for days even after washing.

I applaud Sand + Fog for making an exact dupe for Mojave Ghost. It's a very very nice scent but it's a little too masculine-leaning for my personal preference. If you love Mojave Ghost though do your wallet a favor and buy this instead, I noticed zero difference.

my moms friend was wearing this when we went on vacation together and went into her room and the entire Airbnb room smelt like this. i finally got my hands after a month of searching but it doesn’t last long on me nor does it have the same strong smell sadly

This is such a pretty, feminine scent! It's clean, sweet, floral, and relaxing in a way. When I smell this I imagine a woman in a field wearing a white linen dress. She's hanging clothes up to dry while flowers sway in the breeze on a bright and sunny day.

I found the oil version of this at TJ Maxx for $17. In a big fan of Mojave ghost but it’s a bit out of my price range. I think this smells very similar and I really enjoy it. I’d call this a very similar scent, almost perfect.

Im absolutely 100% OBSESSED, I cannot get enough of it, it stays in my hair for DAYS, it has even lasted a whole week regardless of daily wash. My favorite perfume EVER.

I, middle aged lady, like a lunatic, chased down a young woman and her male partner in the grocery store to ask her what she was wearing as it smelled amazing on her. Guess I need to try this or get my hands on a sample of Mojave Ghost. Update: Apparently, like a bunch of folks here, I bought this for a deal at TJM. It is a very pretty and wearable floral/musk/wood option. I might be too mature for it, but like it just the same.

This doesn't smell EXACTLY like Mojavè Ghost. Though it does remind me of it. It's like Mojavè Ghost and Al Haramain's Violette Cherie had a love child. It's still nice. Very ethereal and lovely.

Musky and powdery. I was surprised by how much I liked it!

not a crazy fan, its a very woody violet on my skin! i think this would be great to layer with however (suspicions confirmed, works so well with diptyque’s ilio! it feels like a beautiful desert perfume with the two)

I love this perfume it smells a lot like essential oils and incense so if that’s your vibe you’d love this, I got quite a few compliments on this perfume and for the price it’s great it’s pretty long lasting too, I spilt some in my bag like six months ago and it’s been through the wash and I can still smell it.

It's that musty sweet smell of linens that have been in storage for a long time. I pulled out clothes that have been in storage for 5 years and smelled them against this fragrance, and I could not tell a difference. Strange, and also somewhat addictive. Am I anosmic to a note here?

Don't know if it's anything close to Mojave Ghost but to me it smells like freshly shampooed hair in a luxurious salon
