Ofanins

Ofanins was released in 2017 and brought, as a concept, an attempt to portray what would be the smell of an angel, an ethereal scent. In theory, the Ofanins are part of the First Triad of angels closest to God, right after the Seraphim and Cherubim. In order to convey such an idea, the perfumer joined notes of cardamom, Bulgarian lavender, Calabrian bergamot and organic red-orange in the top of the composition. Then, he combined notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang of Comoros, pink geranium and blue cypress. All this rests on a base of sandalwood, patchouli, cedar, oakmoss, and oud. On the skin, Ofanins is a perfume that I consider to be, at least, unusual. I've never felt anything like this before! I perceive a floral and, at the same time, earthy output that mixes with a refreshing, menthol-like scent, which I know that comes from the geranium. However, I can not feel anything about jasmine and ylang-ylang, flowers that are often very noticeable and almost narcotic. In order to not seem unfair, if I breathe over the area of application for a while, I can identify that fruity nuance (resembling banana) from the ylang-ylang. Even so, the dose of the blue cypress seems to be bigger and, from personal experience, this is a note I do not get along very well. From the base, again, a lot of oakmoss and nothing else. I wanted to feel the sandalwood, the patchouli and especially the oud, but it was not possible. Actually, Sapientiae makes use of a fine oakmoss in its perfumes, but it is usually a dominant note. On my skin, Ofanins revealed itself as a floral and mentholated perfume, which leaves me confused and in the middle of a relationship of love and hate. As well as I admire its innovation and try to follow where it leads me, I also feel like I need a bath and that I will never repeat this perfume again. I can not even define whether it's bad or good, because it has an aura of mystery - in the style of the 80's - that I keep trying to decipher. The only certainty I have is this: if I were a buyer of the Discovery Set, this fragrance would never be among my first choices of buying a regular bottle because something tells me that I would always hesitate before wearing it. At the same time, it's the kind of scent that would make me ask the name if I felt it in someone else. In short, Ofanins is a different perfume and full of pointed facets. I can see users in love and others not so much. But I do not indicate a blind purchase.
