Ancient Forest

This is very nice. The most prominent note I get here is a beautiful blackberry which lasts throughout. This definitely has a sweetness to it. But it’s greatly subdued by some earthier base notes. I could see how this could smell like a forest floor. Earthy moist dirt, branches, leaves, berries. Very natural smelling perfume. Not the least bit synthetic. Unisex. Unique fragrance and really reminds me of a forest. If you want something with a nice (But subtle) berry sweetness to it, which is complimented by earthiness, that’s what this is.

Not so much an ancient forest; more an old ragbag of floral, gourmand and woodsy notes. For someone who loves the straightforward dark, treacly undertow of woody fragrances from AER Scents or Pineward perfumes, Ancient Forest's overloaded cartful of ingredients makes it difficult to delineate the composition of this fragrance. Despite the layering suggested in the brand's description, the overall effect is confusing. If it's not Woody in that smoky/leathery way, then is it Green? No, not grassy enough. Is it Spicy? No, not piquant enough. If anything, I suppose it could be best be described as Woody/Floral, since the musky sweetness of violet, heliotrope and cistus eventually win through the surrounding agrestic fug and linger way into the dry down. Andrea Byrne is to be congratulated for producing work that boasts 90% natural origin. The perfume, like Scents of Man's other products, is of the highest quality and beautifully presented. I am sure this fragrance will find plenty of satisfied customers. Speaking as a Scandi-leaning male, I just wish that the promised incense had been perceptible, that the woods had been drier and the florals less persistent and that the overall aesthetic been simpler and ... well, just woodier!

Very feminine like all their scents. Very nice floral, green and herbal scent.

Starts off sour on my skin, later becomes more aromatic and woodier.

367 I really hated this one. It smelled nothing like an ancient forest, and I’ve been to many. Whatever you want to call it, it didn’t smell good in any way. It just smelled like a mishmash of twigs and plants ripped out and mixed with soil and water(like we made as children), although it doesn’t smell like soil, it just smells like smashed up weeds. No berries or sweetness that I can smell. It does not improve by dry down, and the opening and mid hangs around for a long time. For me, it was just a mess. Such an intriguing name and so many notes and that’s what they came up with :p -10/10-Worst one of the bunch so far. This was really jarring in the worst way possible.
