Bluebell Wood

I have received a sample of this beauty as a prize for the Scents of Man giveaway here on Fragrantica, thanks to generous Andrea! I have to say I am smitten by the evolution of this fragrance. In the opening, there is such a realistic, planty accord which leans slightly skanky on my skin - almost like herbs and bushes which have been heated by the sun for quite long, not the dewy morning kind - while I do not particularly love to smell like that, I am flabbergasted by how real it smells; but the real surprise happens about 15 minutes after - it becomes clean. This has never happened to me before, it usually goes the other way: all the classic floral bouquets such as Anais Anais, Amarige, Diorissimo and the like start fresh and evolve skanky on me. This does exactly the opposite and clarifies into a transparent, clean, breezy fragrance. 6 hours later, I smell the most beautiful clean white musk in the style of Narciso Rodriguez, Modern Muse and Lanvin Rumeur. Simply a wonderful, exciting trip.

This is really a very uplifting scent!

This is an interesting take on the bluebell theme. Because of the name I'd expected a real bluebell note, but the perfume features flower notes like hyacinth, bell flower and violets instead. Now I've never smelled a true British woods bluebell, they are said to be very fragrant and very endangered because people dig them up. BBW is a fresh spicy floral scent, with a touch of musk and orris. Unfortunately musk and orris rarely agree with my nose and my skin. Whenever a perfume contains these notes they become an olfactory focus and I'm unable to ignore them. While BBW doesn't work for me it should be an easy pick for anyone looking for sunwarmed spring florals with a bit of spice. Longevity is good, like all the Scents of Man. Sillage is modest, meaning this one's work safe. Thanks to Scents of Man's generous giveaway I'm able to try several of their perfumes, and their devotion to quality cruelty free products and great customer support is outstanding.

One of my favourites, it always gives me a burst of energy. Very uplifting and pretty. I think this is a natural perfume, I prefer to use these and it stands out as a really good perfume. (I don't get much 'wood', but lots of bluebells!)

Very pretty - violets, hyacinth and rose are in there somewhere. It has a particularly nice dry-down with no synthetic notes - which is so unusual in a bluebell!
