Sweet Morningside

I was honestly shocked when I saw the accord breakdown on this scent. Mossy??? To me this is a beautiful and airy sweet coconut scent, which smells clean and fruity. I really pick up the pear note alongside the coconut. The sandalwood and musk come into play in the drydown. This is one of my favorite Skylar releases. Perfect for layering, similar of how Boardwalk Delight can be layered with so many things.

This is a gourmand scent hands down, sweet, vanillic coconut. But on my skin there is something crisp and fresh to it so I guess I can see where they were trying to go with the notes and vibe and name! Despite the mashup between sweet/gourmand/earthy being ambiguous- I do really like this scent as a bed time scent or for Barre class. It’s not overpowering, it’s light, sweet and fresh.

Sweet, beachy, clean, fresh, floral, green, woody, and earthy. I really pick up on the sugar, coconut, vanilla orchid, pear, freesia, sandalwood, moss, and musk. This opens sweet, fresh, beachy, and floral with sugar, coconut, pear, freesia, violet leaf and vanilla orchid. As it dries down it becomes more green and woody with sandalwood, moss, and musk. It’s a rather unique mixture of notes, but I think it’s still enjoyable and easy to wear. Sweet Morningside reminds me a little bit of an old VS mist that I still have and love called Island Escape with notes of sugarcane and coconut. I’m also somewhat reminded of Ellis Brooklyn Miami Nectar with the beachy coconut opening and the green and mossy dry down. I get good performance with Sweet Morningside. The longevity is nice, it lasts about 5-6 hours on me. The projection is decent too, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me.

When it dries, I only smell the moss. Nothing else. No sugar, no coconut, just grass.

I love the opening of this and wish it stayed that way throughout. Unfortunately, after the top notes fade, it's just sandalwood sandalwood sandalwood. It's a no for me. Update: I tried it again today and noticed the florals a lot more alongside the coconut, bringing it into lotion/sunscreen territory (but in a cozy way). Once the sandalwood hits, though, again, I'm not a big fan. Undecided whether I should keep this one or give it away. (Update: I gave it away to a friend, who initially liked it, but has since also started to feel a bit iffy on the sandalwood-y-ness.)

You would think with the coconut note that this would be more of a summer scent but I'm pleasantly surprised that it is not. The coconut is very much in the background, with the freesia, sandalwood and musk taking center stage. This is a sweet, woody scent that lasts 5-6 hours on skin. Beautifully blended and I find that this is a scent suitable for all seasons.

This is not mossy and earthy. This is a warm and sweet coconut scent. The pear and floral notes give it a fresh and juicy element. The longevity is actually decent. I got this scent midday and immediately put it on, went to bed later that night and woke up still smelling it on my skin. It pairs beautifully with bath and body works whipped coconut milkshake.

it smells basic, but just like all the other skylar perfumes i’ve smelled ,it’s just refined enough to want more ! it’s like a Bath and body Works scent that you love for some reason but you’re too old to wear, gets a mini makeover. the dry down still has a slightly cheapy scent imo

This is so beautiful to me. If Skylar made a full size of this I would snatch it up quick. I hope someone on their team sees this and takes the hint. It is coconut done right. Love this one so much.
