Oud Galant

It is what it says and still caught me by surprise. Galant as in chic with a spicy-saffron and a subtle green powdery opening which I loved right away. The oud here slowly reveals itself like a deep and warm and mysterious smokey backbone. IMO this fragrance isn’t the oud type that shows off though nor gets in your face as so many beast barnyard oud fragrances do. Oud lovers probably fancy potent scents but I do love wearing this kind of subtle oud scent which I find a bit similar to how Maison Kurkdjian worked this note in some their oud fragrances like Oud Cashmere. Btw there is also no oud-rose combo here which I find also makes it a little original to famous niche hits. This one is the typical balance I seek in a fragrance that smells niche between character and elegance, in that case making oud perfectly wearable anywhere and almost anytime - actually worked for me this summer.

This woody and smoky masculine fragrance opens with the sparkling notes of pink pepper and saffron mixed with the aroma of smoke and leather. It gives way to incense and the magnificent violet that gives a distinguished touch to the fragrance. When dry you can feel the oud, iris and balsamic cedar wood. It is a perfume with which I imagine the classic old Hollywood actor, always impeccable, dressed in a suit and tie, his hair perfectly combed and driving his classic car through the hills of Mulholland Drive. I find it truly luxurious! I tested it right away and it felt perfect on my skin! Raw and tender at the same time, with a little suede touch that I love! It's an Oud that's easy to wear every day, not too animalic and not too oriental as we're often accustomed to smell. This fragrance makes me think that Oud is one of Superfumista's favorite materials, because it is perfectly highlighted in this creation. Bravo!
