Gyokuro

“Gyokuro” by Tada Parfumeur is stunning. It instantly evokes the sensation of sipping a steaming matcha latte from a wooden cup in a Japanese teahouse. I am sensitive to synthetic scents, and the matcha note here is exquisite and hyper-realistic. No matcha fragrance from Sephora could ever compare. Sandalwood, cedar, white florals, and saffron form a beautifully balanced base that never overwhelms the tea note. In a perfume landscape inundated with green tea scents, this one truly stands apart. D’Annam’s "Matcha Soft Serve" has been all the rage, but “Gyokuro” deserves the spotlight. It is more refined and delicate. J-Scent’s “Roasted Green Tea” is another fan favorite, but I thought it smelled rancid, like burnt tea leaves and peanut oil. Elizabeth Arden's "Green Tea” was a '90s hit, but it leans into a spa-like, medicinal direction. Milky, clean, and gently sweet, "Gyokuro” is the clear winner. To my nose, this perfume leans feminine, but it could work great on a man. It remains fairly linear and projects gracefully. The bottle itself is also stunning; it beautifully adorns your shelf or counter. If you are looking for a comforting, unique, and delicious scent, “Gyokuro” is the one.

This is an incredibly realistic matcha fragrance, but with a touch of creaminess added to make it easy to wear, fun, and cozy all day long. As someone who drinks tea and matcha regularly, I’ve been wanting to try this one for a while. Now that I have, I absolutely love it—I couldn't stop sniffing my own arm the first time I put it on! Based on the illustration on the bottle, I originally thought it would be a strictly green matcha scent. I was a bit worried because 'too green' can sometimes be difficult to pull off, but Tada Parfumeur balanced this matcha perfectly. I really have to give them credit. This has now become part of my daily rotation. If you love tea-based fragrances and are looking for one that isn't heavy on citrus, I highly recommend this. Truly excellent.

Got to sample this when I purchased Lamoon (not on Fragrantica??) by the same house, which smells amazing by the way. This one though, actually does smell like matcha but moreso Gyokuro with all its umami-ness. Gyukuro is not my favorite tea to drink due to its strong umami flavor but this smells so realistic I am contemplating a full bottle. I wish it had some florals to brighten it up a bit and make it nore wearable. But if you are looking for a realistic tea scent, this is it right here. Love this Thai house!

A real japanese matcha green tea fragrance. It's long lasting with the vibe that you can stay with all day. The matcha note isn't too hard. In some moment, I smell a bit fresh, sweet, and creamy notes here so it's more interesting than I thought. One more thing, this perfume is very fun to layer with other perfumes. Adding matcha green tea scent to other perfumes make them more fresh and green. Worth to buy. Safe for blind buying.

Sorry d'Annam but is the REAL Matcha Soft Serve perfume. It's sweet, creamy, and photorealistic matcha. There's the tiniest amount of mint somewhere in the blend that adds a cool-ness to it, which layered with the matcha and sweetness creates an ice creamy quality. I'm obsessed!
