Madagascar Vanillac Rum

For the first half hour, this fragrance smells like absolute chaos on my skin -- and not in a good way. The vanilla-sweetened suede and the prominent elderberry notes create a screeching cacophony that, frankly, does not smell particularly pleasant. After an hour, it smells like delicious vanilla berry sorbet heaven with a slight boozy twinge. I was hoping for more tobacco here. It's very muted in this. However, once the outrageously loud suede accord settles down, we're left with a beautiful gourmand scent profile unlike anything I have ever tested. A very strange fragrance journey indeed. Not a safe blind buy considering how this smells for the first hour, but when it calms down I can't imagine many people would dislike this. What's mildly disappointing is that I'm a man and this leans extremely feminine, even for a gourmand. The berry note being most prominent certainly puts this squarely in female territory. It's almost floral in nature, and combined with the very powerful vanilla and the totally-absent tobacco, I would recommend that masculine men avoid this. Still, it gets a favorable overall review from me, in part due to how daring, interesting, and intriguing it is. Edit: I have been wearing this for 18 hours and I can still smell it strongly on my wrist. Crazy strength

This stuff is absolutely clutch. An intense opening of vanilla and rum as you would expect. I get a lot of woodiness and tobacco. It is loud and room-filling. Absolutely love it. It dries down and mellows but it is still strong and lasts for HOURS. Tobacco Vanille is one of my favorite scents and this reminds me of it, even though they smell very different. The elderberry gives me a dried fruit vein that runs throught this as well. On my this leans very masculine in my opinion. The barrel aged aspect gives it a woody backbone to support the tobacco and vanilla. Duas A Vanilla Affair is mot definitely unisex. An absolute vanilla masterpiece. In my opinion, the 3 fragrances I mentioned, Nishane Ani, and Afternoon delight by Margiela are all you need to have a fully fleshed out vanilla section of your fragrance wardrobe. Unique, long lasting, inexpensive, quality. Nothing more to say.
