Santal Oud

I'm aware Thomson Carter do get a fair amount of stick from the wider fragrance community over on Reddit and, for some of their fragrances, I can agree that some are bland and unoriginal. But Santal Oud for me is completely different. On my nose, it's akin to some of the old school powerhouse fragrances of the 70's and 80's but revamped for a modern audience. While a lot of TC fragrances could be considered unisex, such as Smoke and Mirrors (despite being marketed towards men), this is without a doubt on the masculine side of the scale for me, blending woods, vibrant oud and lightly-sweet saffron, and has become my dumb-reach GADA fragrance. Although not in the note breakdown, between the various woods and saffron, Santal Oud can come across as sharp and metallic or sweet and fruity without being overpowered by any of these notes. For me, this is a dynamic scent that isn't out of place in the boardroom, at a wedding, on a date or in the grocery store and is one of my most complimented fragrances to date. As a single man, I've worn this on multiple dates and have received compliments from numerous women regarding how my fragrance of choice smells "masculine", "intriguing and "inviting", but this hasn't become my daily driver because I receive compliments while wearing it, but because I adore the smell. From a company with a varied line up, I'd highly recommend getting your nose on TC's Sandal Oud as it is a diamond in the rough.

A well put together scent at a good price, has a spicy but light aroma, can definitely pick out the woods vibe, bought this as a 10ml travel bottle and will buy a 50ml once all gone. Think this one is better than the hyped Smoke & Mirrors from the same house (which is another good scent), projection and sillage is moderate, but performance wise I'm getting a solid 8hrs, a lot longer than S&M. Would heartedly recommend.

This is such a sexy fragrance. Even though it's quite linear, it makes a thrilling layering partner to many of my more feminine fragrances. Longevity is brilliant. It leans masculine but I like that. This will be a staple in my collection, for sure.
