Murmure Ylang Ylang de Madagascar

A rare gem that I unexpectedly found at TK Maxx UK. I never knew there was another version of my beloved Murmure, which I owned in the early 2000's and enjoyed to the last drop, so I bought Ylang Ylang de Madagascar on the spot. And what a nice surprise it was. They are both in fact very similar and can be simply described as super feminine and chic florals. No complex or weird ingredients. Very modern yet with a wonderful classic touch. J'adore.

At last I was able to put my hand on this flanker. I adore the original murmur and wanted the ylang version also. Well, this is beautiful. It resembles the original but with additional ylang. The Jasmin is still the leading actor. Longevity and projection are very good. Recommended to floral lovers.

Beautiful name Murmur. Epic perfume. Very epic. Very hard to wear. Very special. Great quality. Beautiful bottle. First what you should know, about this great scent is, that this is not for everyone or blind buys or whatever else modern people do. This is not a modern fragrance. It's not trendy. It's very specific. Second. Van Cleef & Arpel's perfumes are very high quality. Do you like ylang-ylang? Yes? That's not enough. You must ADORE it. Because this bottle contains a spirit of ylang-ylang. Now let's do some botanical stories as I find that very important. It's the main reason why our senses, the nose particularly love, like, adore, and hate. We talk here about ylang-ylang. One of the most egoistic, ignorant and special flowers used in the perfumery world. Natives, from where it comes call it Marathi – Chapha, Tamil - Kattu Chempakam, Telugu - Apurva Champakame, Chettu. We named it Cananga odorata. It's tropical. Growing in tropical parts of the planet. This particular, captured inside this perfume is from Madagascar. I will explain a bit later, why that is important. Ylang-ylang is one of the most expensive parts of fragrances. It's prestigious. Because it's so wonderful. And diverse in the smelling notes. Oh yes. It's an aphrodisiac. I also think that ylang-ylang is a drug. It's addictive. That's what this perfume is about. Enjoying ylang-ylang as a drug all over you. The perfume of Gabrielle Chanel (aka Coco) shook up all the codes of the era by using Cannanga odorata or ylang-ylang’s heart note accords. It has become the reference, sounding almost like a myth, in the haute couture perfumery business. Today, the hypnotic flower that grows best in Madagascar’s lands is at the heart of Dior’s “J’adore In Joy”, Van Cleef & Arpels’ “Murmure”, Guerlain’s “Samsara”, Givenchy’s “Organza” and many others! Following the success of Chanel N°5 that Coco Chanel owes to ylang-ylang also, the brand created another successful ylang-ylang-based fragrance called “Bois des îles”. Like First, the fragrance of Murmure was revisited and became more sensual and luminous... thanks here to the sumptuous scent of ylang-ylang. The flower is hand-picked early in the morning before being transformed into absolute, the most precious olfactory form. A rare voyage, in a limited edition. The enveloping bouquet of luminous white flowers that Murmure offers in its classic version has become more precious and delicate, thanks to ylang-ylang from Madagascar. On the skin, the results are voluptuous and sensual. If you don't like ylang-ylang or can't stand A LOT of it, this is not for you. Examining it closer once applied you will notice a lingering quality of softer fragranced citrus, fruity and powdery hints that hide an essence of calming, warm and hypnotic feelings. With ylang-ylang drugging you constantly till the end and the end is not soon. This scent lasts and lasts. Very long. Ylang Ylang De Madagascar unfurls in a whiff of citrus and floral opening top notes including mandarin orange and freesia. This opening is so beautiful it can be simple perfume itself. Seriously. Next. The white flowers and yellow flowers heart centre notes blend in with jasmine, white flowers and ylang-ylang, while the deep woody and spice base notes leave an impression of vanilla, Brazilian rosewood and cedar. So sophisticated. Deep. Mature. Self-confident. (I warn you. It is very strong. Try first and wear it carefully.)
