Gueule de Bois

Sampling Versatile Paris Gueule de Bois, my second try from this house, a mix of amber, pepper, rum, cinnamon, and incense. It’s woody, sweet, smoky, spicy, resinous, and boozy, without overdoing any one aspect, in my opinion, fairly pleasant while being a bit provocative, a palpable winner for cooler weather especially, something I’d certainly wear plenty of. The rum/pepper aspect reminds me a bit of part of Guerlain Gourmand Coquin, and its spiciness reminds me of Atelier Cologne Tobacco Nuit, though this is a bit more easygoing than both while still being dark and interesting. Overall, I’m really pleased with it and want to wear more of it. The entire line is sold with rollerball application at extrait concentration, priced at $55 for 15ml, available via boutiques like Ministry of Scent, from which I bought my discovery set. I’m now 2 for 2 after having tried God Bless Cola, both of which are easily full bottle worthy, and I look forward to trying the rest of the line. 8 out of 10

A rollerball fragrance was a new one on me - my normal habit is to spray a veil of fragrance in the air and walk through, so that was out - but it is very concentrated so some applied to pulse points actually gave a great result that lasted and lasted! The scent itself is absolutely WONDERFUL!! A boozy smokey gourmand-sweet hug in a bottle that just envelops you!! I have to draw the obvious comparison with Jazz Club, there are definite note similarities, but I find this one a touch more rounded and a little softer. It doesn't lean feminine but is a true unisex (Jazz Club def leans masculine). Recently bought the newest Versatile Paris discovery set At first I actually didn't smell anything (which is actually pretty common based on some reviews i've seen) ,after some time i started to smell a lot ,and i mean A LOT of rum and spiciness ,paprika (for some reason?) And pink pepper After that it just smelled very woody togheter with a more toned down of rum and spicy I love this scent and out of all it is my favourite ,maybe maybe it is an equal to God bless cola Overall this is a solid 8/10 ,definetely something i would wear if i wished to impress somebody ,especially a romantic partner

My first impression is the rum, which I simply adore, a little bit of spice, but not too much. As already pointed out, this is warm, cosy and incredibly attractive. Definitely a fall-winter 'around the fireplace'-sort of scent. As with many other Versatile, it's very round around the edges. Here I would definitely say creamy, which balances out the spiciness so nicely. Boozy, creamy, spicy, warm, narcotic. Definitely a favourite from the house! Can't decide if I like this, or 'Croissant café' better. These are both winter-season gems.

Surprisingly delicious fragrance! I was expecting dark, tobacco scent and I get sweet, sensual and spicy. At first, quite masculine aroma makes an impression of gentleman's club (expensive rum, cigar, comfy sofa), but lately the scent become playful and changes. On my skin, it is feminine, rosy puff with smoky touch and warm vibration of amber. I really like it, it is very wearable, chic and optimistic scent! Good projection and nice longevity (7-8hrs).
