Rouge

This fragrance was such a pleasant surprise. I was standing in a pharmacy, waiting to get my prescription refilled when I saw a display case full of bottles of this 'Verset' brand. Pale cream boxes for women, navy blue for men. Classy looking packaging to begin with. I figured I had a few minutes to spritz a few testers onto the paper strips provided and this 'Rouge' on was the first one I sprayed. Immediately I knew it reminded me of something I already had, but I also knew it wasn't an exact copy. When I checked out the prices it was £5 for 25ml or £20 for 100ml. It was a no-brainer. I knew this was a fragrance I was going to be able to wear every day and at such a reasonable price, I could also afford to lash it on as much as I liked. Which is exactly what I DID do. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist, the whole way back from town and eventually I was able to come on here and find out what it was supposed to smell like. OF COURSE! It's like Dior Hypnotic Poison, which I also own. Of course it's not a total clone, but it contains enough similar notes to be suitably reminiscent and help to evoke the same memories that HP does. I always wear fragrance, no matter where I am, or whether or not I'm around people or alone. I wear it because it lifts my mood and makes me feel good. This fragrance really puts a smile on my face. It manages to feel clean and classy, whilst also being creamy, cashmere-like and sweet too. I just think that this entire fragrance is amazing value for money. The bottle is really pretty, the whole thing looks a lot more expensive than it actually is, and the scent is just so lovely and feminine, I can't help but keep going back for another spray. It's also good that I bought it when I did, because my little brother bought me 'Givenchy L'Interdit EDP' for Christmas (he is so good at selecting fragrances for me; he always picks something I absolutely love!) which is just such a gorgeously addictive and I'd probably be halfway through the bottle, if I didn't also have this new cheapie from Verset, to help give me something else to wear at alternating times/different days. This was my first experience at buying a Verset fragrance and this 'Rouge' one has already convinced me to a/ buy a few more bottles of it and stash them away (because things I like always get discontinued) and b/ try out some of the others they have in their range too. Because who isn't always up for something that smells nice, cheers you up and doesn't break the bank? Don't get me wrong, I'm still a TF Lost Cherry girl at heart and will probably be buying both the new cherry flankers as soon as I can get my hands on them, but I'm by no means a perfume snob. I love me a good bargain. Just an all-round satisfying purchase.

I’m not too familiar with Hypnotic Poison, but this is a delightful perfume. A sweet floral vanilla - it’s not too deep or too heady, so it can be sprayed lots. I can’t say that it lasts a lifetime on me but it’s not the worst in my collection and it’s cheap enough not to grudge a respray. All in all, not a bad blind buy for me - I’d rebuy a bigger bottle in the future for sure.

gorgeous perfume spot on dupe for hypnotic poison, very pretty powdery vanilla such a comforting scent and so affordable to you can find these in chemists or on ebay :) does smell a bit like play dough but i and lots of other people like that funnily enough

I noticed that many of the Verset perfumes have been reformulated, most of them have become more diluted and with a more generic smell. This one smells like aromatised black tea on me.

I love this. It’s not a spot of dupe for HP however I think it’s better. To me this is almond and vanilla milk with a hint of jasmine. Just gorgeous, cozy and sweet.
