Rosa de Bolero

I do not like the opening of this perfume. It is very, very fresh spicy, not warm spicy but fresh spicy and not in a good way. It has the smell of very strong and raw green peppers being chopped up combined w/ pink pepper and saffron. It smells like you are getting ready to make a very spicy sauce of some sort, it has a kitchen smell. As the perfume develops it becomes extremely leathery and smell very similar to my bottle of Bvlgari Au the Noir. That you can buy for nothing and it doesn't have the obnoxious opening. I think I will stick w/ my Bvlgari Au the Noir.

Whitney Swales handles rose a bit differently here. The composition opens with the rose, but focused on the deep heart, it's full, lush and spicy, surrounded by the saffron and pink pepper in the opening. The osmanthus comes out about an hour into the wear, and softens it a bit - this was my favorite phase. By the dry down, it was a warm combination of sandalwood, frankincense, rose, pink pepper, and earthy patchouli; but on my skin, the patchouli was amplified and since I'm not a huge fan of patchouli, I didn't care for this stage, however, if patchouli was "my thing" this would be my favorite patchouli rose. It was such a fun ride and so well balanced.
